Crew member charged over ship that ran aground in Norway
Norwegian prosecutors have charged a cargo ship's second officer with negligent navigation after he allegedly fell asleep on duty and the vessel ran aground, narrowly missing crashing into a home.
The ship, the NCL Salten, ran aground on Thursday morning. No oil spills were reported, and none of the 16 people aboard were injured.
Resident Johan Helberg told Norwegian broadcaster NRK that he had slept through the whole thing and only woke up when a neighbour started ringing his doorbell.

Images show the ship's red and green bow a matter of feet away from Mr Helberg's house along the Trondheim Fjord's coast.
The second officer, whose name was not made public, was the navigator on duty at the time of the grounding, prosecutor Kjetil Bruland Sorensen said in a statement.
Crews on Monday continued to take containers off the ship so it could be more easily removed from the area.
NCL, the shipping company, said it was cooperating with investigators.

Both were found guilty of the charges last week and were given the maximum sentence of life in prison on Tuesday. Ms Caruana Galizia, 53, was murdered on October 16 2017 by a car bomb that was detonated while she was driving near her home. The journalist had written extensively about suspected corruption in political and business circles in Malta. Her murder shocked Europe and triggered angry protests in Malta. At the time of her death, she was facing more than 40 libel suits. The six-week trial also concerned the separate murder of a lawyer, Carmel Chircop, who was shot and killed in 2015. Two other men, George Degiorgio and Adrian Agius, were convicted and sentenced to life in prison for that murder on Thursday. George Degiorgio and his brother Alfred Degiorgio both pleaded guilty in 2022 to carrying out the murder of Ms Caruana Galizia. They were each sentenced to 40 years in prison. A third man, Vincent Muscat, pleaded guilty in 2021 for his role in the Caruana Galizia murder, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He gave evidence in the recent jury trial after being granted a presidential pardon for his role in the Chircop murder on the condition he tell the whole truth. Yorgen Fenech, a prominent Maltese businessman, is currently out of jail on bail awaiting trial on charges of alleged complicity in the Caruana Galizia murder.

Deadly Russian drone and missile attack ‘one of the biggest' in Ukraine war
At least two people were killed and 13 others were injured after Russia sent waves of drones and missiles in an attack on two Ukrainian cities, officials said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the attack on Kyiv 'one of the biggest' in the war that has raged for over three years. He said that Moscow's forces had fired more than 315 drones, mostly Shaheds, and seven missiles at Ukraine overnight. Several people dead in attack at school in city of Graz in Austria, say officials
Several people, including students and teachers, have been killed in a shooting at a school in the southern Austrian city of Graz, according to local media reports. Police confirmed they were responding to reports of gunfire on Dreierschützengasse Street, with a major operation underway and a helicopter deployed at the scene. Public broadcaster ORF reported that the suspected gunman, believed to be a student at the school, took his own life. The Austrian interior ministry has confirmed that several people have been killed in the attack on the school in Graz in the south of the country, without specifying the exact number, AP reported. The Kronen Zeitung newspaper reported that at least five people were killed, with others seriously injured. The incident occurred close to the tenth anniversary of a deadly 2015 attack in Graz, which left three dead and dozens injured. Authorities have said there is no indication that the two events are connected.
