Nagpur University Team Discovers 3,000-Year-Old Civilisation In Maharashtra
Researchers from Nagpur University have discovered a 3,000-year-old civilisation remains, including houses, in Maharashtra's Yavatmal district. The stunning discovery, hinting at the existence of an ancient, advanced settlement, dates back to the Iron Age, according to the researchers.
According to PTI, a team from the Nagpur University found the remains after excavating a village identified as Pachkhed, in Babhulgaon taluka. The Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology team carried out the excavation through 2023-24, uncovering ancient remains, said Dr. Prabash Sahu, department head.

Russia patents drone tech: Orbital station to launch spacecraft automatically; robots to maintain station
Russia patents space technology, uses robots for maintenance of orbital stations (Representative image: PTI) Russia has developed and patented a new technology that allows spacecraft to be launched automatically from an orbital station, Russian news agency TASS reported. This system also includes robotic maintenance features, making it the first of its kind in the world. The technology will be tested at the upcoming Russian Orbital Station (ROS), and later used in future lunar exploration missions . Russia's first deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov informed President Vladimir Putin about the developments of this technology, emphasising at Russia's need to transition to its own orbital station, module-by-module by 2030. The ROS 'will become the world's first drone platform equipped with robots for its maintenance. This is a patented solution of the Russian Federation,' Manturov said during the meeting on Friday, as reported by PTI. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The meeting was chaired by Putin through a televised medium to assess the current national projects, particularly in the field of space. Work is currently underway to develop the Russian Orbital Station (ROS), which is planned for deployment in a near-polar orbit between 2027 and 2033. The scientific and power module (SPM), representing the first segment of the ROS, is scheduled for launch at the end of 2027. By 2030, additional components including the universal-node, gateway, and base modules are planned for launch, which together with the SPM will form the station's core infrastructure. The second phase of the station's deployment will involve expanding the facility by docking two target modules between 2031 and 2033. The deployment of Russia's orbital station is expected to begin after the scheduled deorbiting of the International Space Station by 2030. This transition comes after valuable joint space collaboration experience between Roscosmos and Nasa.

Over 20 mild earthquakes shake Karachi in 48 hours, experts warn of bigger quake
Since Sunday night, a swarm of mild earthquakes has rattled Pakistan's largest city, Karachi, sparking concern, confusion, and a flurry of forecasts. Karachi has recorded at least 21 low- to moderate-intensity tremors -- ranging from magnitude 2.1 to 3.6 -- in less than 48 hours, but experts remain divided on whether a larger, more dangerous quake is most powerful tremor so far, a magnitude 3.6 jolt on Sunday night, caused a partial collapse of the Malir Jail wall, allowing 216 prisoners to escape, news agency PTI the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has urged calm, some independent voices are sounding the alarm. 'The earthquake tremors of mild intensity will continue for the next two to three days, and the situation will improve as the intensity of the quakes will reduce,' PMD Director General Mahr Sahibzad Khan reassured citizens. As the city experienced continuous tremors, social media was full of posts about a potential major earthquake. The debate took a serious turn when a private Pakistani geologist said he predicted the Karachi earthquakes well before they occurred and that a major earthquake was due on Friday and Saturday Shahbaz Laghari, CEO of the private Earthquake News & Research Centre, offered a sharply different view.'Our research shows that a series of small tremors often signals a major earthquake is on its way,' he said, warning that 'the nights of Friday and Saturday are particularly critical for Karachiites this week.'advertisementLaghari added that his team had accurately predicted the recent tremors and urged the Sindh government to issue public warnings. 'Karachi has small fault lines in areas of Korangi and Malir that are causing minor earthquakes,' he other experts pushed back on the doomsday predictions.'There is nothing to worry about for the people of Karachi,' DG Khan Chief Meteorologist Amir Hyder Laghari noted the activation of a historical fault line in the region: 'The fault is releasing its seismic energy,' he said, suggesting the tremor frequency should subside within a DG Khan, too, said there is 'nothing to worry about for people of Karachi.'Curiously, neither the United States Geological Survey (USGS) nor India's National Centre for Seismology (NCS) recorded any seismic activity in the Karachi region since Sunday, raising further questions about local monitoring and reporting inputs from PTI
