BIG FLATS, N.Y. (WETM) – The Harris Hill Pool has officially opened for the 2025 season, which means it's time to start thinking about swim lessons for the little ones. The Chemung County Buildings and Grounds Department has announced that sign-ups for swim lessons at the Harris Hill Pool will open on Tuesday, June 17. Participating children must be at least 6 years old by June 30, 2025, to sign up. Swim lessons will take place in six-week sessions and will run on the following schedules: Mondays and Wednesdays from June 30 through Aug. 6 from 11:10 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 1 to Aug. 7 from 11:10 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. Those signing up for swim lessons will have the option to choose which session they would like their child to participate in. Space for swim lessons is limited, so interested families must sign up ahead of time to participate. Sign-ups may be completed online beginning on Tuesday. No early registration will be available. Harris Hill pool, Park Station waterfront, both to open in June Rates for swim lessons vary depending on Chemung County residency and whether registrants hold a season pass for the pool. Those interested in becoming season pass holders may purchase a pass when signing up for lessons, and must do so to receive swim lessons at a discounted rate. Rates for each can be found below. Swimming lessons for season pass holders (per child): Chemung County residents – $25 Non-county residents – $35 Swimming lessons only (per child without a season pass): Chemung County residents – $60 Non-county residents – $75 Season pass costs: Chemung County residents – $40 for an individual, $80 for families Non-county residents – $55 for an individual, $100 for families Family passes include two adults and four children. Those signing up for lessons or season passes should note that payment is required at the time of registration. An additional charge will be implemented for credit card payments. NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KETK)– The public is invited to a virtual public meeting for removing an outdated traffic light signal, which will take place Tuesday. Recent rain causes foundation problems for East Texas homeowners According to TxDOT, the City of Nacogdoches wants to propose removing a traffic light on Lloyd Street. The traffic light at Lloyd Street and BU 59 is no longer functional and has been suggested to be removed because of low traffic volume. 'We encourage you to join us to learn more about the project, ask questions, and share your feedback. Your input is important and will help guide decisions that benefit the community,' TxDOT said. An in-person meeting will be held on Tuesday between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the C.L. Simon Recreation Center. Residents are also able to attend a virtual meeting by visiting and searching the keywords 'Lloyd Street Intersection Signal'.
