Tense moment between Megan Moroney and Shaboozy at American Music Awards leaves viewers stunned

Daily Mail27-05-2025

Things turned tense on stage during the American Music Awards after Megan Moroney made a joke that didn't seem to go over well with Shaboozy.
Megan, 27, and Shaboozy, 30, teamed up to present the award for Favorite Country Duo or Group during the event on Monday.
But when the singer made a bold claim about who 'invented country music,' Shaboozy appeared completely unamused.
Before reading the results, Megan reflected on the Carter Family, an American folk music group who was the first ever to win the award in 1974.
'The first award went to the Carter Family, who basically invented country music,' she said.
But right after she made the statement, things immediately turned awkward as Shaboozy appeared to give her some side-eye.
The two stars sat there in silence for a couple of seconds as he starred at her; after a long pause before, he chuckled and announced the winner.
Viewers immediately took to X, formerly Twitter, to discuss the painful moment.

'Megan Moroney just said the Carter Family invented country music and Shaboozy just shot her the hardest side eye. That's what I came here for,' one user joked.
'Megan Moroney shading The Carter's on national television is craaaazy,' added another.
Someone else penned, 'BYE SHABOOZEY SIDE-EYEING MEGAN MORONEY. Saying white people invented country music in front of a black country artist is sending me. Megan girl nooooo.'
'This is so awkward,' a fourth tweet read. A fifth said, 'The carter family definitely shaped country, but invented? Bit of a stretch.'
Others, however, defended Megan.
'Megan Moroney did not write the script (she was just reading the prompter),' one person pointed out.
'People hating on what Megan Moroney said acting like she wrote what to say on the teleprompter... DON'T piss me off omg,' agreed a different user.
The American Music Awards took place on Monday, May 26, at the Fontainebleau hotel located in the heart of Las Vegas - and it was certainly filled with other interesting moments.

At one point, Tiffany Haddish took a subtle swipe at Jennifer Lopez 's split from Ben Affleck.
Tiffany, 45, was presenting the award for Favorite R&B Song when she made a shocking joke about JLO's love life.
Jennifer, 55, who is hosting the awards show, opened the event with a dazzling medley of her biggest hits.
Tiffany then hit the stage to reveal the first winner of the night, but before reading the results to the audience, she took a moment to gush over how impressive the Jenny From the Block songstress' performance was.
But the actress and comedian couldn't help but poke fun at JLo's newly single status.
'Our host just danced to 23 hits in six minutes. Just from that opening number alone, Jenny From the Block got all her steps in for the day,' she said.
She then joked, 'Save some dancing for me JLo, damn. You ain't the only one out here that's single.'
An onlooker told DailyMail.com that JLo laughed the joke off.
Viewers immediately took to X, formerly Twitter, to discuss the painful moment
JLO was brutally savaged by fans over her AMAs performance, which included a shocking make-out session with one of her dancers.
Spectators quickly took to social media to discuss the act.

Another shocked fan said, 'Just looked up from my phone and JENNIFER LOPEZ IS KISSING A GIRL?!?!'

Kristin Cavallari admits 'dry humping' Glen Powell on secret date during bombshell first episode of reality show

Kristin Cavallari dropped quite the bombshell on the series premiere of Honestly Cavallari, admitting to going on a date and 'dry humping' actor Glen Powell. The 38-year-old reality star debuted her new series on E! Wednesday, which follows her embarking on her podcast tour, and comes after she revealed which family member she cut out of her life. Her first stop was in Atlanta, where she had a colorful chat with Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak in front of a packed crowd. Her best friend Justin also joined the show, where he spilled some tea for the crowd when a fan asked about Kristin's dating life as a single mom. 'She recently went on a date with... she's gonna be so mad at me, actually, with Glen Powell, and I wanted it to happen so bad!' Justin said as Kristin screamed, 'Justin!' The show then featured a clip from four days earlier with Kristin and Justin explaining that they were, 'partying in Greece ' when Powell, '36, 'literally ran into me.' Justin joked, 'And then you guys had a really fun night together,' as Kristin admitted, 'I never f***ed him, just putting that out there.' Justin then asked, 'You guys dry humped, though?' After a pause Kristin smiled and said, 'Yeah, we did,' as they both laughed. Back in Atlanta, Kristin told the crowd, 'OK, I have to go on record, when this comes out, I had nothing to f***ing do with it!' Before the Glen Powell admission, a fan asked how she dates as a single mother of three kids. 'It's been a lot with my kids, in the last year. I now have them a lot more than I did, and so dating, it hasn't been the priority,' Cavallari admitted. 'But in nine years, when my kids are off at college, I'm gonna be all over the world, with all the guys, doing all the things,' she said. The show also opens with a glimpse into Cavallari's home life, revealing her nine-day tour will be the longest she won't be seeing her kids in over a year. 'It's podcast tour week. I'm not gonna see them for nine days, which is... That's a long stretch. We used to do week on, week off. 50-50 custody, but that changed over a year ago,' she said. 'So, this will be the longest that I've gone without seeing them in, like, a year, and that's gonna be hard,' she admitted. 'I think deep down I knew, um, I was very unhappy at that point in my life and really stressed out. And my kids were young, so it's not like they were seeing headlines or anything,' she said of her relationship with ex Jay Cutler. 'But now my kids are 12, 10, and 9, and that's my priority right now. I see little bits of me in all of them, actually. They get all their good qualities from me,' she joked.

Eminem's publishing company Eight Mile Style sues Meta over 'rampant' unauthorized use of rapper's music

Eminem has sued Meta over claims that the social media giant has distributed the rapper's music without the proper license to do so. Eight Mile Style, the company that own's Eminem's most popular songs, has filed a lawsuit in a federal court in Michigan accusing the Mark Zuckerberg company of storing, reproducing and distributing the Detroit rapper's music without proper licensing. The lawsuit is seeking at least $109 million as well as a court order to halt several forms of alleged copyright infringement, the Los Angeles Times reported. According to the complaint, Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, created and stored copies of the music on its servers for their 'billions of users'. The lawsuit claimed that the company's music library holds 243 songs controlled by Eight Mile Style for users to utilize. 'On information and belief, despite their not being licensed, the recordings of the Eight Mile Compositions have been reproduced and synchronized with visual content on Meta's platforms across millions of videos, which have been viewed billions of times,' the complaint said. The lawsuit stated that its main complaint regarded the reproduction and storage of the music in its own music library and encouraging users to utilize the music without licensing. It is alleged that the company knowingly reproduced and distributed the music after a failed negotiation with Eight Mile Style for licensing as part of its 2020 license agreement with Audiam, a digital music royalty collection firm. 'Nonetheless, Meta has reaped the financial benefits of having the Eight Mile Compositions available to its users as part of their online services,' the complaint stated. It furthers that Meta executives 'actively encouraged rampant infringement' in order to attract more advertising profits, with 'advertising accounting for 97.8 percent of Meta's total revenue as of 2023.' While the company began removing some of Eminem's music after the lack of license was brought to their attention, the lawsuit further claimed that karaoke and instrumental versions, as well as some original versions, of the rapper's songs remain on the platform. 'Meta's years-long and ongoing infringement of the Eight Mile Compositions is another case of a trillion [with a T] dollar company exploiting the creative efforts of musical artists for the obscene monetary benefit of its executives and shareholders without a license and without regard to the rights of the owners of the intellectual property,' the complaint stated. Meta, however, said in a statement to the LA Times that it has licenses with thousands of partners globally and 'extensive' global licensing programs for music on its social media platforms. 'Meta had been negotiating in good faith with Eight Mile Style, but rather than continue those discussions, Eight Mile Style chose to sue,' the statement said. The company also previously sued Facebook in 2013 and alleged that the platform used the rapper's song 'Under the Influence' for an advertisement without consent, the LA Times reported. Eight Mile Style is asking for $150,000 per song, per platform, according to the complaint. The company has requested a jury trial.
