Kiss to lead combined Australia-NZ team against Lions
Incoming Wallabies coach Les Kiss will lead a combined Australia and New Zealand side that will play the British and Irish Lions this summer.
It will be the first combined Australia and New Zealand team since 1989 and they will play a Lions side who start a three-Test series against Australia on Saturday, 19 July in Brisbane.
Kiss, who will take over from Joe Schmidt as Australia coach in 2026, will have former All Blacks head coach Ian Foster as an assistant for the game in Adelaide on Saturday, 12 July.
"It's a privilege to be able to lead the coaching group for the combined AUNZ Invitational XV," said Kiss, currently Queensland Reds head coach.
"The British and Irish Lions are one of world sport's most renowned teams and to be able to play them at an iconic Australian venue such as the Adelaide Oval will be an incredible spectacle.
"I'm looking forward to working with a coach like Ian who has wide-ranging experience at the highest level of the game and linking up with the wider management in due course."
World Cup-winning former Australia international and ex-Tonga coach Toutai Kefu will lead a First Nations and Pasifika XV that will play the Lions on Tuesday, 22 July in between the first and second Tests against Australia.
"I feel honoured to be named head coach of the first ever First Nations and Pasifika XV," said Kefu.
"First Nations and Pasifika people contribute massively to the game all around the world and the significance of this game in celebrating those ongoing contributions can't be overstated, especially against a team with the history of the British and Irish Lions."

Afridi, Shamar Joseph headline list of BBL nominees
Pakistan superstar Shaheen Afridi is poised to play in the Big Bash League for the first time, after headlining a list of first nominees for next week's draft. League great slams NRL as Benji Marshall spray lands Tigers coach in hot water
League great Greg Alexander has leapt to the defence of Benji Marshall after the Wests Tigers coach's criticism of officials looks set to land him in hot water with the NRL. Marshall blew up over two controversial calls against Jarome Luai during Sunday's loss to Penrith, with the penalty for a late tackle on Panthers kicker Blaize Talagi particularly baffling. Luai was also pinged for an escort penalty during the second half of the 18-14 defeat that Marshall thought the officials also got wrong. But the NRL's head of football Graham Annesley insisted on Tuesday that both incidents were reviewed and the right calls were made. 'It's clear from the vision that Jarome Luai props on his left foot and turns his back to initiate contact with Liam Martin,' Annesley said about the escort penalty. 'Regarding the contact on kicker Blaize Talagi, the rules are very clear, and have been reinforced with clubs on multiple occasions over recent seasons. "Players have a duty of care to avoid dangerous contact with kickers who are in the process of kicking and in a vulnerable position. This is a player safety policy which has been in place for a number of years.' But a frustrated Alexander wasn't having a bar of that explanation and echoed the fan backlash by insisting that Luai made the tackle on Talagi as he was kicking the footy. Luai's shot was not late, high or dangerous and the former premiership winner lamented the fact that current rules tend to penalise defenders for what has long been celebrated as exemplary kick pressure. "The tackle wasn't late, it wasn't high. He was within his rights to make that tackle," Alexander said about the penalty against Luai. "Please tell me that we haven't ruled that out of the game. "Do we just allow a kicker to take all the time in the world to kick the ball? As long as he hasn't made contact with the legs of the kicker - which he didn't - then I think it's gotta be alright. Veteran NRL commentator Andrew Voss agreed it did not warrant a penalty. "If he was passing the ball, then there's no dramas," he added. With the scores locked at 10-10 at the time, the decision proved costly as Nathan Cleary's ensuing penalty goal put the defending premiers up by two, before Thomas Jenkins completed his hat-trick late on to help get Penrith home. Marshall was clearly infuriated in his post-match press conference and suggested the officials decided the outcome, in comments that look to have landed him in hot water. 'The game is so hard and demanding. And I actually feel sorry for our players because they didn't actually get to decide tonight," the Wests Tigers coach said. I agree with protecting the kickers, but he didn't take his legs out. They didn't put him in a dangerous position. It was simultaneous when he kicked it and he made contact there. Like, that's not a penalty. "And I thought it actually cost us because we're in a cycle there where they got field position, kicked the goal, got the ball back, went down, got a penalty and then scored, so anyway, I've had my rant.' And it could prove costly for Marshall and the Tigers, with CODE Sports reporting that the NRL is reviewing the comments to determine whether any form of sanction will be handed down. Pat Cummins comes clean after hilarious fail with Jeremy Clarkson before WTC final
Pat Cummins has had to out-think some of the world's greatest cricketers enroute to 294 Test wickets – but he's met his match in the form of a manual farm vehicle. Ahead of the World Test Championship against South Africa at Lord's, starting Wednesday, the Australia captain visited Didley Squat, the farm made famous by Jeremy Clarkson's popular Prime Video Series Clarkson's Farm. Cummins – a Prime Video ambassador - played cricket against Clarkson and co-stars Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland, sampled the homegrown Hawkstone Lager and was brought up to speed with the farm's project to grow willow trees to turn into cricket bats. The Aussie skipper, who owns a farm in the Southern Highlands of NSW, looked right at home until he was asked to park a manual tractor. "It was great. I'm a big fan of Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video, so it was great to go out for a visit and have Jeremy show me the farm and play a little cricket and tried their beer," Cummins told Yahoo Australia. "It's a beautiful part of the country and great to see in person. "It all went well until they put us on this dolly trailer, which is this notoriously hard kind of trailer to try and park. I tried it for 10 minutes and just gave up. I thought I'm never getting this thing in, so I'm not even going to bother trying. "The life of a farmer is just as chaotic as you see on the show, and I was very impressed with Charlie's idea to grow English cricket bat willow. Thanks to Jeremy and the team for hosting me.' Clarkson has previously discussed his dislike for cricket but is slowly coming around after realising he can make a dollar from it. The show's star said: 'I've never been a fan of cricket. I always had too much hay fever to know what was going on, but at least now I've found a way to make some money out of it. We enjoyed showing Pat around Diddly Squat Farm." Prime Video is the first-stop entertainment destination covering Amazon original content like Clarkson's Farm, ICC Cricket and NBA. The World Test Championship final (July 11-15) will be shown on Prime Video from 7.30pm (AEST).
