Tuesday's briefing: Car ploughs into crowd at Liverpool title parade
A 53-year-old man was arrested and 27 people were taken to hospital.
'Horrific incident' at Liverpool parade
Four children were among about 50 people injured in a 'horror' incident after a car ploughed into a crowd during Liverpool's Premier League title parade, with one youngster seriously hurt.
Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said the 'horrific incident' was not being treated as terrorism following the arrest of a 53-year-old man at the scene.
The Prime Minister said he had spoken to the Mayor of Liverpool about the incident, adding: 'Everyone, especially children, should be able to celebrate their heroes without this horror.'
At a press conference on Monday evening, Dave Kitchin from North West Ambulance Service said 27 people were taken to hospital and 20 people were treated at the scene, with four children among the injured. He said two of those taken to hospital, including one of the children, suffered serious injuries.
Former Liverpool player and manager Sir Kenny Dalglish said: 'Shocked, horrified and deeply saddened about what happened at the end of the parade today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone and their families who have been impacted by today's tragic event. Our anthem has never felt more appropriate, You'll Never Walk Alone. Your Liverpool family are behind you.'

Wimbledon's play-off final hero Myles Hippolyte celebrates after his goal earned a 1-0 win over Walsall at Wembley (John Walton/PA)
Myles Hippolyte scored the only goal at Wembley to fire Wimbledon into League One with a 1-0 victory over Walsall.
Hippolyte, who was a National League player in 2022, produced a thunderous strike on the stroke of half-time before Johnnie Jackson's side had to ride their luck after the break.
It earned Wimbledon Wembley delight again, nine years after previous play-off success and 37 years after the 'Crazy Gang' shocked Liverpool in the 1988 FA Cup final.

Crystal Palace players celebrate with the FA Cup on stage at Selhurst Park (Yui Mok/PA)
Oliver Glasner promised Crystal Palace would go all out to win all four competitions they enter next season at the club's jubilant FA Cup parade.
Wet weather did not dampen spirits as a large crowd gathered to watch an open-top bus parade from Whitehorse Lane to Holmesdale Road before lucky supporters to get a ticket inside Selhurst Park were treated to more memorable moments.
'Four competitions, four titles to win, let's go for every single one,' Glasner declared on stage.

Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that his time at Al Nassr is over after he scored in Monday's 3-2 loss at Al Fateh.
'This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,' Ronaldo posted on his social media accounts alongside a picture of him in an Al Nassr shirt.
Only last week FIFA president Gianni Infantino claimed 'discussions' were happening over a move which would allow Ronaldo to feature in the Club World Cup this summer.
What's on today?
With most domestic seasons in Europe over, focus turns to the international scene and one-time England boss Steve McClaren will be in action as his Jamaica team face Trinidad and Tobago in a friendly fixture.
There is still one match of consequence which involves an English club as Chelsea gear up for Wednesday's Conference League final. Enzo Maresca and a player will face the media in Wroclaw on the eve of the fixture.
And with the summer's first transfer window opening on Sunday, expect more speculation over the likes of Ronaldo, Matheus Cunha, Liam Delap and Florian Wirtz.

Unai Emery dealt fresh blow as another star hints at Aston Villa transfer exit
Missing out on the Champions League for next season is set to cost Aston Villa heavily next season, with boss Unai Emery seeing several of his players admit their futures are uncertain Youri Tielemans has admitted that his future at Aston Villa is uncertain, despite sweeping the club's awards. Tielemans joined Villa in the summer of 2023 after scoring the winner for Leicester City in that year's FA Cup final. Having taken some time to adjust to Villa's style of play, the Belgian became a key player for Unai Emery. He featured in 53 games in all competitions, scoring five goals and notching 10 assists in the process. Tielemans started every match in Villa's run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The campaign ended in a tide of disappointment though, with Villa qualifying for the Europa League, rather than the premier continental competition. That has led to fresh concerns over Villa's compliance with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules. That means that sales could well be needed this summer to ensure Emery's men avoid receiving a points deduction. Star keeper Emi Martinez already appears to be on his way out. And Tielemans has admitted his future is also far from certain, despite having two more years to run on his contract at Villa Park. 'There's nothing definitive or ruled out about whether I'll stay or leave. But I feel good at Aston Villa; I feel a lot of confidence from the club and the manager,' he said while on international duty with Belgium. 'Of course, I was able to score five goals and provide 10 assists this season. But I was also influential in my team's play. I've been consistent and I think I've improved throughout the season." 'We're used to playing a lot of matches, recovering between games. So, I didn't feel tired in Skopje. It must be said that I spent 60 minutes on the bench [laughs]. But now I'm ready to play and represent the country this Monday." Tielemans was crowned both Supporters' and Players' Player of the Season at Villa's awards night following his impressive season. He admitted to being left 'frustrated' at the end of the season after missing out on the top five. He said: "Frustrating to end the season this way. Thank you for your support throughout the whole campaign, Home and Away you've been amazing." If Tielemans did depart, it would be another blow for Emery amid Martinez's expected exit. After the season concluded, the Villa boss admitted that major changes could be coming in the Second City this summer. "We will see about the team, the players, but of course, they are responding on the field. Of course, then we will see about everything, how we are going to try to get better for the next season," he said after the final day defeat to Manchester United. 'Frustrated today, but we are in the Europa League, we are in Europe. To be in Europe is important and being in three years in a row I think is something we are showing our consistency.'

Thomas Tuchel drops England team hint with contrasting plans for two hopefuls
England boss Thomas Tuchel is set to make changes to the side that only beat Andorra 1-0 at the weekend for the meeting with Senegal at the City Ground, and goalkeeper Dean Henderson may be handed an opportunity Ivan Toney may have to wait for his England chance. Former Brentford striker Toney has been out of the picture since going to the Saudi Pro League and must have been hoping to start against Senegal having not featured against Andorra. But Thomas Tuchel has hinted heavily that Harry Kane will start which means that Toney - back in the squad for the first time since leaving the Premier League last summer - may only get a run-out as a substitute. England boss Tuchel said: 'Let's see what the game demands. It is important we get to know him as a personality and it is clear in training what he can do as a goalscorer. Let's see what the game brings but he has every chance to play.' One player who could get an England audition against Senegal on Tuesday night however is Crystal Palace stopper Dean Henderson. READ MORE: Harry Kane handed 'Cristiano Ronaldo warning' by England boss Thomas Tuchel Tuchel also rates Burnley 's James Trafford highly as England look to their keeper options to put pressure on No1 Jordan Pickford. The England boss is preparing to change the keeper but still wants to go strong against Senegal after the lacklustre win against Andorra. Tuchel said: 'Jordan is, in the moment, in front. We chose a very, very serious line-up against Andorra to also not give the signal that we are preparing something or trying something. 'There was no doubt we could have played with Trafford or Dean Henderson in goal against Andorra but Jordan is, in the moment, slightly ahead. 'He will do everything to stay ahead and the others, hopefully, to do everything to challenge him but it could be a time to give some minutes to Dean or Trafford.'

Liverpool star to follow John Heitinga to Ajax as the former Reds assistant bids to rebuild Dutch giants after leaving Anfield
Ajax want Liverpool goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros on loan. The Czech Republic international, 23, is well known to Ajax coach John Heitinga after working with him last season. Heitinga, a former Everton defender, arrived at Anfield last summer and served as Arne Slot 's No 2 throughout their Premier League-winning campaign before agreeing to become Ajax boss at the end of last month. Jaros, meanwhile, signed for the Reds as a 15-year-old but only made his Premier League debut this term after replacing the inured Alisson Becker in a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. The stopper, who earned his first cap for his national team in March last year, has had spells on loan with St Patrick's Athletic, Notts County, Stockport County and sturm Graz. The Premier League champions moved quickly to bolster their goalkeeping unit after the sale of Caoimhin Kelleher by bringing in 20-year-old Hungarian stopper Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia. With the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili following a loan spell at Valencia, first team opportunities are likely to be even harder for the Czech keeper to come by. In May, Heitinga agreed a two-year contract and replaces Francesco Farioli, who departed the club after a single season in charge. The moves confirmes the 41-year-old's fourth stint in Amsterdam, having enjoyed two spells at the club as a player and a brief stint in charge of the senior side in 2023.
