Part of the joy (or stress) of sports is that anything can happen between the whistles. Do favorites usually come out on top? Sure, but we've all seen plenty of upsets. That's especially true in a tournament; it seems like there's always at least one underdog that makes a fairy tale run.
And with this year's expanded FIFA Club World Cup field, there are bound to be plenty of opportunities for an upset. Most fans have probably heard of clubs like PSG, Real Madrid and Manchester City, but how do you assess a matchup between the likes of Wydad AC and Al Ain FC?
With that in mind, let's take a look every club's odds (per FanDuel) of winning the entire tournament. Just remember that these were from before play kicked off, and a single result can turn everything upside down.

When Is FIFA Club World Cup 2025?
Since we're working with a bigger tournament field, this year's event will logically need to include more games. So, when will those take place?
Group play kicks off on Saturday June 14, when Lionel Messi's Inter Miami takes on Al Ahly. Things will proceed for just under two weeks, and the Round of 16 will start on Saturday, June 28.
After four match days, the quarterfinals will take place on July 4 and 5. The semifinal showdowns are on July 8 and 9.
The tournament will then wrap up on Sunday, July 13 when the two final teams take the pitch in New Jersey.
Group A Betting Odds
SE Palmeiras: 31-1
FC Porto: 38-1
Al Ahly FC: 100-1
Inter Miami CF: 60-1
While Lionel Messi's Inter Miami will probably command plenty of eyeballs, it's not the favorite from within this group. That distinction goes to Brazil's Palmeiras, although Porto (Portugal) has a similar chance of lifting the trophy in the oddsmakers' eyes.
Group B Betting Odds
Paris Saint-Germain: 4.7-1
Atlético de Madrid: 15-1
Botafogo: 47-1
Seattle Sounders FC: 90-1
As the reigning UEFA Champions League winners, PSG understandably comes into this tournament as one of the favorites. They have the second-best odds overall. Atletico Madrid isn't a slouch, though, starting the tournament as the sixth-favorite squad.
Group C Betting Odds
FC Bayern München: 7-1
Auckland City FC: 1000-1
CA Boca Juniors: 38-1
SL Benfica: 38-1
In soccer, the size of your wage bill generally determines your success, and that reality shows up here as Bayern Munich towers over the competition. Benfica and Boca Juniors both have respectable odds, but they're in a different class from the German giant.

CR Flamengo: 31-1
Espérance Sportive de Tunis: 370-1
Chelsea FC: 10-1
Los Angeles Football Club: 75-1
Chelsea didn't have a perfect season, but they still finished in England's Champions League places and won the UEFA Conference League. Critics will say they did that by beating up on weaker competition, but they're one of the stronger squads in the Club World Cup, at least on paper.
Group E Betting Odds
CA River Plate: 38-1
Urawa Red Diamonds: 170-1
CF Monterrey: 170-1
FC Internazionale Milano: 17-1
Inter may have stumbled down the stretch in both their domestic league and the Champions League, but it's still the strongest team in their group. This will also be an early chance to see how Cristian Chivu, who's replacing Simone Inzaghi on the bench, will run things.
Group F Betting Odds
Fluminense FC: 47-1
Borussia Dortmund: 26-1
Ulsan HD: 150-1
Mamelodi Sundowns FC: 370-1
Dortmund is the beneficiary of a weak group, at least on paper. They probably won't win it all, but dealing with these three opponents shouldn't be too stern of a test.
Group G Betting Odds
Manchester City: 5-1
Wydad AC: 370-1
Al Ain FC: 150-1
Juventus FC: 26-1
Despite a down year, Manchester City towers over the Club World Cup as the third-favorite to win it all. If the newest additions—Rayan Aït-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders—hit the ground running, there's no reason to think City won't push toward the final.
Group H Betting Odds
Real Madrid C. F.: 4.1-1
Al Hilal: 60-1
CF Pachuca: 110-1
FC Salzburg: 75-1
While Real Madrid might have struggled on the European stage (at least by the club's lofty standards), it's impossible to argue with the attacking talent on their roster. Do Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo fit together perfectly as a front three? No, but they should be able to overpower weaker opposition.

Hit or miss? Our verdict on the 11 most expensive Premier League signings
Jack Grealish has won lots of trophies but is playing less and less at Manchester City - Getty Images/Tom Flathers Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz for an initial £100 million, with a further £16 million in potential add-ons. If those add-ons are paid, it would make the German the most expensive player in the history of British football. A huge transfer fee does not guarantee success in the Premier League, though, as this list of the 10 most expensive deals in British football proves. 11. Romelu Lukaku, £75m Everton to Manchester United, 2017 Lukaku was described by Jose Mourinho as a 'natural fit for Manchester United', but it did not work out that way. After two seasons at Old Trafford, he was sold to Inter Milan in 2019. Verdict: Miss👎 10. Josko Gvardiol, £77m RB Leipzig to Manchester City, 2023 Gvardiol has proved to be everything that City thought he would be: a high-class, powerful, technically gifted defender who can play as a centre-back or a left-back. Verdict: Hit👍 9. Harry Maguire, £80m Leicester City to Manchester United, 2019 Maguire has experienced relentless turbulence at Old Trafford, on a personal and collective level. He was stripped of the captaincy in July 2023 but has since recovered to become a key player again. He may not be world class, but he is one of the few leaders at United and he is certainly resilient. Verdict: Hit👍 8. Darwin Nunez, £85m (£64m initial fee) Benfica to Liverpool, 2022 Nunez is unlikely to have triggered all of the add-ons in Liverpool's agreement with Benfica. The Uruguayan striker has struggled for consistency and could leave the club this summer after scoring only five goals in the Premier League in 2024/25. Verdict: Miss👎 7. Antony, £82m Ajax to Manchester United, 2022 The biggest flop on this list, Antony is the poster boy of United's recent mismanagement. The Brazilian scored 12 goals in 96 appearances (only five of which were in the Premier League) before he was loaned to Real Betis in January. Verdict: Miss👎 6. Paul Pogba, £89 million Juventus to Manchester United, 2016 Pogba occasionally produced world-class performances for United but, overall, he failed to justify the fee. An incredibly gifted player, but he lacked the structure and the consistency to make it work at Old Trafford. Verdict: Miss👎 5. Romelu Lukaku, £97.5m Inter Milan to Chelsea, 2021 Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge with ambitions of leading Chelsea to trophy-winning success. It proved a terrible move. He scored eight league goals in 2021-22, before being loaned to Inter Milan the following campaign. Verdict: Miss👎 4. Jack Grealish, £100m Aston Villa to Manchester City, 2021 A tricky one to judge, especially as he has fallen out of favour over the past year. He did, though, play a key role in City's historic treble in 2022-23. Grealish made 50 appearances in all competitions in that campaign. Verdict: Jury's out🤷 3. Declan Rice, to £105m (£100m initial fee) West Ham United to Arsenal, 2023 Rice has continued to improve since arriving at Arsenal from West Ham and he was voted player of the season at the end of 2024-25. A huge presence on the pitch, he is adding more layers to his game with each passing season. Verdict: Hit👍 2. Enzo Fernandez, £107m Benfica to Chelsea, 2023 The Argentina midfielder has become one of the main leaders at Chelsea and is clearly an important player for Enzo Maresca. There is an awfully long way to go before he can claim to have justified his huge fee, though. Verdict: Jury's out🤷 1. Moises Caicedo, £115m (£100m initial fee) Brighton to Chelsea, 2023 Caicedo was named Chelsea's player of the season in 2024-25 and was probably one of the Premier League's best midfielders for much of the campaign. He will never attract as many headlines as more attacking players, but he has become absolutely central to Chelsea's system. Verdict: Hit👍 Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism. 3️⃣ questions before Atleti's Club World Cup debut
Sign up for DAZN to watch all FIFA Club World Cup matches for FREE Atlético de Madrid makes its debut in the Club World Cup and it's not against just anyone. The PSG of Luis Enrique, current European champion after sweeping Inter Milan in the Munich final, is the first hurdle for Diego Pablo Simeone's team. Advertisement The first big match in the Club World Cup raises many questions about the red and white team. We reveal them! Griezmann... to the bench? We must admit that Antoine did not end the season in his best form. The years go by, and there were many voices suggesting that his leading role at Atlético de Madrid should give way to a new era at Atlético with Julián Álvarez as the spearhead. 📸 OSCAR DEL POZO - AFP or licensors Today is the first big test where we will find out what happens with Griezmann. Will the Frenchman continue to be a starter and reference in the attack or will we see him in the final 30' of the game to try to change the match? Will Sorloth continue to be the bet from the bench? A total of 20. Those were the goals that the Norwegian striker ended up scoring in his first campaign with Atlético. Advertisement Simeone bet on Sortloth coming off the bench, and although the numbers did not disappoint there are many who wonder: does it make sense that the top scorer of the squad is not a starter at Atlético? 📸 Florencia Tan Jun - 2025 Getty Images Today "starts" a new test for many and we will have to see if Simeone's bet regarding the former Villarreal player is the same, or we see him as an offensive reference alongside Julián in the attack front. Many doubts on the left wing Without a doubt, the left profile of Atlético de Madrid's squad is the one that raises the most doubts at this time of the season. 📸 GOKHAN TANER Advertisement Without signings, Simeone will start again with names like Javi Galán, Rodrigo Riquelme, Gallagher and Samu Lino for 2 positions. Logic suggests that Álex Baena will own the left attacking area once his signing is confirmed, and that the board will go all out to close Grimaldo, Robertson or Miguel Gutiérrez in the summer months, but for now the red and whites will have to play "with what they have" as they say. 🔎 The Debrief as Club World Cup 2025 starts with a goalless draw
It was goalless in the opening match of the 2025 Club World Cup with Lionel Messi's Inter Miami frustrated against an impressive Al Ahly outfit. Here's what you missed overnight on day one of the tournament. Advertisement You can sign up to DAZN to watch every FIFA Club World Cup game for free. What happened? 📝 Al Ahly and Inter Miami played out an entertaining 0-0 draw in front of a raucous Miami crowd on Saturday evening. Despite fears that there could be swathes of empty seats at the Hard Rock Stadium, 60,000 supporters cheered on Lionel Messi and co in the opening game of the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup. There was plenty of noise in Florida but, unfortunately, very few goals as both goalkeepers played out of their skin to keep the game goalless. That didn't mean the match was short of excitement though, with Al Ahly having a penalty saved and a goal disallowed for offside in the first half. Advertisement And after the break it was Messi's turn to almost score with the former Barcelona man going close with a free kick and then forcing a stunning save in injury time. Player of the day 🔥 Lionel Messi was clearly the biggest name on show last night but it was Miami goalkeeper Oscar Ustari who deserved the largest amount of praise. Ustari was an absolute colossus between the sticks for the hosts, pulling off save after save, especially in the first half. His crowning moment came just before the break however, diving low to his right to save Trezeguet's penalty. Stat of the Day 📊 Exactly 20 years ago, on 14 June 2005, Ustari kept a clean sheet for Argentina against Egypt at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. That Messi-led Albiceleste team went to on become world champions. What this means 🤔 In what is arguably the most open group at this summer's tournament, this is a point that could prove valuable or entirely fruitless come the end of their third matches later this month. Advertisement Palmeiras and Porto, the other two teams in Group A, face each other later on Sunday and should that also finish in the draw, then we'll have a thrilling second round of match to contend with. As it is, both of these teams will surely rue their profligacy in front of goal. What they said 🗣️ 📸 MOHAMED TAGELDIN "We were much better than them, we moved a lot in transition and controlled the game and we had chances to score and win the game," Miami boss Javier Mascherano told afterwards. "Football is like that, maybe in the first half they had some chances too. Obviously we wanted to win because we know how important it is to start with a win, but I'm happy with the platform." Advertisement Al Ahly coach Jose Riveiro also thought his side deserved more than a point: "It's a football game, a game of mistakes. We had a decent amount of chances in the first half to put the game in a different space and we put them in a hurry. In the second half we were defending a little lower than what we wanted and then we had some problems in transition with controlling our first pass. :It's like we were playing in Cairo and that was a surprise for me in my first official match with Al Ahly. To be here in the States and have it like you were playing at home is something that can probably only happen in this." What's next? 👀 Thursday June 19 is the next time we'll be able to see these two in action. Advertisement Al Ahly will travel back the east coast to New Jersey to take on Brazilian giants Palmeiras. Inter Miami meanwhile will be going to Atlanta to take on Porto. 📸 Megan Briggs - 2025 Getty Images
