Feyi-Waboso included in England camp after injury lay-off

France 2420-05-2025

Feyi-Waboso was included in England's 33-man squad for a two-day training camp ahead their summer fixtures.
The 22-year-old Exeter winger has not played in 2025 after surgery to repair an injury sustained on club duty in December.
He could feature in Exeter's final Premiership match of the season against Sale on May 31.
Five tries in eight caps, including three on last year's tour to Japan and New Zealand, had propelled Feyi-Waboso into contention for the British and Irish Lions' trip to Australia.
But the dislocated shoulder denied him the chance to feature for England in this year's Six Nations.
Steve Borthwick's England squad does not include players selected for the British and Irish Lions' tour or those from Northampton and Bath, who are involved in this weekend's Champions and Challenge finals.
Sale centre Rekeiti Ma'asi-White features in a senior England squad for the first time after a breakthrough season.
The 22-year-old, son of former Tonga international Viliami Ma'asi, is seen as a candidate to provide the ball-carrying muscle that England have lacked in midfield since the Test retirement of Manu Tuilagi last year.
Veterans George Ford and Jamie George are present in the group after being overlooked for the Lions tour by Andy Farrell.
Borthwick's immediate goal is to prepare an England team to take on France at Twickenham on June 21.

Russell looks forward to Twickenham roar as Bath seek end to Premiership drought

Russell is used to being regarded as a villan by fans at the English national stadium on his international visits with Scotland. But the British and Irish Lions number 10 can expect vociferous backing from Bath's travelling army of fans this weekend as his team go in search of their first English top-flight title since 1996. Russell kicked 14 points to help Bath beat west country rivals Bristol 34-20 in the play-off semi-finals, securing their second successive final appearance. "It is always good playing in front of a sold-out stadium," said the 32-year-old playmaker. "Having your home fans there, hopefully the majority of tickets are Bath fans, that will be special. "I know the other side of playing at Twickenham. Usually when I am there, it is 70-odd thousand fans against me." Russell is determined to help Bath make amends for last season's final loss, a painful 25-21 defeat against Northampton. "I think that motivation has been there for everyone," Russell said. "After getting that final and losing it last year, it is always quite tough to come back in that next year. "But I think everyone came back in pre-season in good shape and kind of ripped in straight away." Bath, who came top of the regular-season Premiership table, are chasing a treble, having already won the European Challenge Cup and the Premiership Rugby Cup. Johann van Graan's side finished 11 points clear of second-placed Leicester and Russell called on them to secure the long-awaited title at Twickenham this weekend. "At the start of the year, the goal was to win the Premiership. We have gotten ourselves in a good spot just now to hopefully go and do that," he said. "We have almost got back to where we wanted to be and hopefully can go one step further this year."

Crew Clothing steps up in sportswear with comprehensive new line

The more relaxed capsule, in key buttery-soft fabric, is designed to offer ease of movement while remaining breathable with sweat-wicking features. The Bi-Stretch styles include ergonomic seams to follow the body's natural contours, and have UPF50+ protection. Dedicated running jackets, gilets and shorts, are produced in a lightweight woven fabric and come with reflective detailing. Finally, the Technical capsule has breathable, sweat-wicking fabric with four-way stretch for performance and recovery. Prices range from £25 to £65 with the Crew Sport collection available through any of its 41 stores and online from 17 June. Head of Marketing Naomi Parry said: 'Entering the sportswear space feels like a natural progression for Crew. Born out of a Salcombe windsurfing shop, we launched our very first collection with rugby shirts designed by a GB skier [so] sport is in our DNA.' Calling the line 'a natural progression', she highlighted the brand's close sporting legacy which, in the last decade has been built through sponsorship partnerships with Henley Royal Regatta, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and the England Red Roses rugby team, 'and Crew Sport is the next step in our journey'. She added: 'We know our customers live active, varied lifestyles, and we think this new collection will be the ideal addition to their wardrobe.' Head of Design Jo Miller also said: 'Designed to transcend age, gender and fitness level, our new athleticwear collection blends our timeless heritage with cutting-edge details. 'We've become known for our signature touches over the years, and you'll find that here too. Whether it's the unrestrictive storm flap on our running gilet or the thumb holes on our track top, we've thought through all the little details.' The launch also comes with a marketing campaign that reflects not only the brand's British legacy but injects some humour too. 'We don't take ourselves too seriously and hope that will come through in some of the copy we are launching with,' noted Parry. Taglines include 'Your park-run-and-a-pint Crew' and 'Barbells-and-a-brunch Crew'… 'it's mixing that sport and team spirit [and] bringing it all together in that British tongue-in-cheek humour'. She added: 'In essence, Crew Sport's sporty but doesn't take itself too seriously, is stylish but not too showy, made to make you feel good and fit into your lifestyle… and the added mix of heritage and humour is what will carry it through'.

Billy Boston, 90, becomes rugby league's first knight

Boston, 90, who stared for Wigan and Great Britain in the 1950s and 1960s, was a trailblazer for black sportsmen and one of rugby league's greatest-ever players. He scored 478 tries in 488 matches for Wigan after making the switch from rugby union in 1953. The ceremony came before the King's Birthday Honours List was publicly announced over concerns for the former player's health. Boston has vascular dementia. "Billy Boston is a true trailblazer whose contributed hugely to rugby league," said British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. "It is a historic wrong that a sport which is the backbone of so many communities has waited so long to receive this honour. "Boston is a legend of the game who overcame prejudice to represent Great Britain and opened the door to a more diverse game." The knighthood came after a campaign lead by local politicians and senior rugby league figures. Wigan Warriors owner Mike Danson said: "Without doubt Billy was a player who was –- and still is –- the biggest crowd favourite in rugby league." © 2025 AFP
