23 more Pinoys in Israel seek repatriation — OWWA
At least 23 more Filipinos in Israel have signed up for repatriation amid the ongoing tension in the Middle East, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said Wednesday.
'Sa bansang Israel, 340 ang natanggap tawag at request for repatriation. Ini-isa-isa natin yung 340 at doon natin nakuha yung 26 na unang batch, 50 na susunod, at itong 23 na susunod pa,' OWWA administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan told 'Balitanghali.'

According to OWWA, there are about 30,000 Filipinos in Israel.
On Tuesday evening, 31 Filipinos arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
They are the first batch of Pinoys who were repatriated since hostilities between Israel and Iran began on June 13.
Meanwhile, the flight of 50 Filipinos in Israel, which was supposed to arrive this week, was delayed due to the temporary suspension of Qatari air traffic after Iran attacked a US military base in Doha.
'Yung 50 dapat darating sila either June 26 or 27, pero nagkaroon ng pagsasara ng airspace kaya iadjust sa schedule so in the next coming days may update tayo kung kelan darating yung batch two,' Caunan said.
(The 50 Filipinos were supposed to arrive on June 26 or 27, but the airspace was temporarily closed. So, we will adjust the schedule and give an update on their arrival in the coming days.)
The Philippine government has raised the crisis alert to level 3 in Israel and Iran, urging Filipinos in the affected areas to take advantage of the voluntary repatriation as armed hostilities between Israel and Iran continue.
DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega earlier said eight Filipinos from Iran are expected to return to the Philippines this week.

Counsel for victims ask ICC to reject Duterte's bid for interim release
"Considering that Mr Duterte has been recently arrested, his interim release would be hard to fathom for the victims who have clearly expressed the view that he should remain in detention at the Court pending the pre-trial proceedings," the counsel for the victims said. The principal counsel of the Office of the Public Counsel for Victims in the International Criminal Court has asked the tribunal to reject former President Rodrigo Duterte's request for interim release. Principal Counsel Paolina Massida's submission came after the Office of the Prosecutor filed a similar request for the ICC to turn down the petition filed by Duterte's defense counsel, Nicholas Kaufman. "Considering that Mr Duterte has been recently arrested, his interim release would be hard to fathom for the victims who have clearly expressed the view that he should remain in detention at the Court pending the pre-trial proceedings," the counsel for the victims said. "For the victims, this is the only way of ensuring that he will face trial. Indeed, victims are extremely concerned with the prospect that Mr Duterte could be released, particularly because there is a real risk that they face threats from the Suspect and his supporters," she added. According to Duterte's request, which Kaufman filed, a country has agreed to take in the former leader, who is facing charges of crimes against humanity in connection with the killings under his war on drugs when he was mayor of Davao City and when he was president of the Philippines. The request also said that the prosecution has confirmed its non-opposition to the former president's interim release to the country, yet to be made public, "on the understanding that the terms and conditions set out in Annex A to this filing would be met." However, the ICC prosecution in its comment on Duterte's request said his continued detention was necessary to ensure his appearance during trial, saying that he did not accept the legitimacy of the legal proceedings against him. PH Air Force ready to evacuate Filipinos in Middle East
The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is on standby to assist in possible repatriation efforts of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by escalating tensions in some parts of the Middle East, with key airlift assets and personnel prepared for immediate deployment. 'Kami po ang magpaprovide ng air assets at mga personnel na kailangan para maisakatuparan ang needed na evacuation para sa ating mga kababayan doon,' said Colonel Maria Consuelo Castillo, spokesperson of the PAF, in an interview on Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon on Wednesday. ?(We will provide the air assets and personnel needed to carry out the evacuation for our fellow Filipinos there.) According to Castillo, heavy-lift aircraft such as the C-130 and C-295 are currently on standby. These aircraft, which have been used for troop deployment and humanitarian operations in the past, are crucial in transporting both people and equipment from conflict zones. 'Ito po, malaki po ang kapasidad ng mga airlift assets na ito... ma-evacuate natin ang ating mga kababayan mula sa mga conflict zones and then we fly them to safer areas,' she explained. ?(These airlift assets have large capacities... we can evacuate our citizens from conflict zones and fly them to safer areas.) Medical teams and ground personnel will also be deployed alongside aircraft to ensure the safety and well-being of evacuees. Modernization and morale Alongside its operational shift, the PAF is continuing efforts to modernize, upgrade current equipment, and cultivate discipline and professionalism within its ranks.
