It's a first! Infosys launches cash reward policy for employees who help with hiring; staff to earn Rs 700 per interview

The scheme awards 700 points (Rs 700) for each interview conducted. (AI image) Infosys , India's second-largest software company, has launched a new initiative offering cash rewards to senior staff members who participate in lateral recruitment interviews, aiming to enhance staff engagement. The Bengaluru-based IT firm has introduced this incentive-driven scheme for the first time. The cash benefits are restricted to recruitment within India. This initiative recognises staff contribution to the interview process during a period when the IT industry is prioritising lateral recruitment over campus placements. A staff member indicated that this initiative aims to motivate team managers and mid-level leadership to acquire external talent and encourage employees to connect with high-calibre candidates. The scheme awards 700 points (Rs 700) for each interview conducted. Staff members can claim rewards for interviews dating back to January 1, as the programme is being implemented with retrospective effect, according to sources who spoke to ET. At the organisation, technical professionals including track leads, architects and project managers at job levels 5 and 6 (JL5 & JL6) regularly conduct 2-3 rounds of interviews with candidates selected by the talent acquisition team for lateral recruitment, before proceeding to the HR stage. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pinga-Pinga e HBP? During these events, staff members can conduct 10-15 interviews daily, evaluating candidates' proficiency in software technologies including Python, Java, Machine Learning, DevOps, and others. The monetary incentive serves to boost interview participation. The organisation has not included HR personnel, talent acquisition staff, contractors and senior leadership positions from participating in the incentive scheme. The reward cannot be claimed for cancelled interviews or when candidates fail to appear. The $280 billion software services industry faces a scarcity of skilled professionals, particularly in AI, whilst dealing with growth challenges caused by declining global demand and trade conflicts in primary markets. The initiative was introduced to address concerns among employees who received modest salary increases of 5-8% for FY24, coupled with reduced performance bonuses for the March quarter. "Earlier, we did not get any such cash incentive for interviews done. In fact, the company gave us compensatory leaves for the interviews conducted at the campus over the weekends," the employee said. Although this practice isn't widespread, several prominent and medium-sized technology organisations, including Honeywell, Accenture and Sonata Software, provide monetary and non-monetary benefits to motivate staff participation in interview panels, ensuring the recruitment of top industry talent. Car Insurance May Get Costlier, Here's How Much You'll Need To Pay

Last Updated: The Road Transport Ministry is likely to decide on the proposal in 2–3 weeks. A draft notification will be issued for public feedback once it gets approval The government is considering an imminent increase in the motor third-party insurance premium, based on recommendations from the insurance sector regulator, IRDAI. According to a CNBC-TV18 report, this proposal has led to a significant rise in the shares of companies such as ICICI Lombard General Insurance, Go Digit General Insurance, and New India Assurance Company. IRDAI has suggested an average premium increase of 18 percent, with some vehicle categories seeing hikes of up to 20 to 25 percent. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will make the final decision on this proposal, expected within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Once approved, a draft notification will be issued for public consultation, followed by a review process before implementation. Moneycontrol published this report, and due to its impact, the shares of insurance companies saw a rise. Shares of ICICI Lombard rose by 7 percent, reaching the highest level in the last three months. Shares of Go Digit Insurance rose by about 5 percent, marking the highest level in the last six months. At the same time, shares of New India Assurance Company rose by about 2 percent. What Is Third Party Insurance? Motor third-party insurance compensates for damages to a third party in a road accident, covering expenses if a person is injured or their property damaged by your vehicle. This insurance is mandatory under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, ensuring that the insurance company covers the costs if someone else is harmed by your vehicle. There has been no change in the premium for the last three to four years, despite various uncertainties in the sector. Experts believe that a 20 percent premium increase could enhance the performance of insurance companies and provide relief to the sector. For the financial year 2024-25, IRDAI has outlined the proposed increases based on engine capacity (cc) for private vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers. Private vehicles mainly include private cars and two-wheelers. IRDAI determines the premium based on engine capacity (cc). The following is the estimated hike based on current rates and the proposed 18–25 percent increase for the financial year 2024–25. The current premium for private cars up to 1000 cc is Rs 2,094. With an 18% increase, it will rise to Rs 2,471, and a 25% hike will raise it to Rs 2,618. For cars with engine capacity between 1000 cc and 1500 cc, the current premium is Rs 3,416. An 18% increase will take it to Rs 4,031, while a 25% hike will raise it to Rs 4,270. For cars above 1500 cc, the current premium is Rs 7,897. With an 18% hike, it will become Rs 9,318, and with a 25% increase, it will reach Rs 9,871. In the case of two-wheelers, the premium for bikes up to 75 cc is currently Rs 538. An 18% increase will make it Rs 635, while a 25% hike will raise it to Rs 673. For bikes between 75 cc and 150 cc, the current premium stands at Rs 720. An 18% rise will increase it to Rs 850, and a 25% hike will bring it to Rs 900. For bikes between 150 cc and 350 cc, the premium is Rs 1,366. An 18% hike will take it to Rs 1,612, while a 25% increase will raise it to Rs 1,708. For bikes above 350 cc, the premium is currently Rs 2,804. With an 18% hike, it will go up to Rs 3,309, and a 25% increase will raise it to Rs 3,505. First Published: June 06, 2025, 19:23 IST

Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway Now Fully Open, Cuts Travel Time To 7 Hours With Smart Tunnel

Last Updated: Samruddhi Mahamarg: The final leg of the Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway opens, featuring India's first smart tunnel with advanced fire safety and full mobile connectivity Samruddhi Mahamarg Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway: Maharashtra marked a key infrastructure milestone with the full public opening of the Samruddhi Mahamarg (Expressway), which now seamlessly connects Nagpur to Mumbai. The final 76-kilometre stretch—from Igatpuri in Nashik to Amane in Thane—is now operational, completing the 701-kilometre corridor. A major highlight of this newly opened segment is the state's first smart tunnel, constructed through the challenging terrain of Kasara Ghat. Innovative Tunnel Technology The Kasara Ghat Tunnel is Maharashtra's longest road tunnel and India's fourth-longest, spanning 7.8 kilometres. It features cutting-edge safety and connectivity measures: continuous mobile network coverage via a leaky cable, emergency phones every 150 metres, public address speakers every 30 metres, and a full oxygen supply system. The tunnel is monitored by 26 fire alarm systems and an integrated access control setup with radio communication and CCTV surveillance. A first in India, the tunnel also features an automatic high-pressure water mist fire suppression system, which activates when the temperature crosses 60°C—spraying water to quickly extinguish fires. Construction Journey and Scale Construction of the Samruddhi Mahamarg, also known as the Nagpur–Mumbai Super Communication Expressway, began in 2016. The now-complete expressway features six tunnels, 33 major bridges, 274 minor bridges, and 65 flyovers. The newly opened tunnel section includes twin tubes with viaducts as high as 12.95 metres. Its construction required around 23,000 tonnes of cement and 400 tonnes of steel. Vehicles can pass through the tunnel in just seven minutes—offering substantial time savings for travellers. Faster, Safer, Smarter Travel With the expressway fully operational, travel time between Nagpur and Mumbai has been cut from over sixteen hours to just seven. Built to accommodate speeds of up to 150 km/h, the Samruddhi Mahamarg is the first expressway in India designed for such velocity. It spans 390 villages across 10 districts, with an estimated total project cost of Rs 55,000 crore. First Published: June 06, 2025, 10:10 IST
