Cristiano Ronaldo planning on Al Nassr stay: ‘Nothing is going to change'
Cristiano Ronaldo has said he is planning to be at Al Nassr next season amid ongoing speculation over his future. Ronaldo's deal with the Saudi Pro League (SPL) club expires on June 30 with The Athletic reporting last month that negotiations had taken place over a new contract for the 40-year-old. FIFA president Gianni Infantino added fuel to the fire in May by claiming Ronaldo 'might play' for a team at the Club World Cup and that there were 'discussions' over the prospect. Al Nassr have not qualified for the newly-expanded tournament in the United States, which begins later this week. Advertisement Ronaldo played that prospect down ahead of Sunday's Nations League final and, speaking after helping Portugal to victory over Spain, he appeared to commit to the SPL club. Asked about his future, Ronaldo said 'practically nothing is going to change' and when prompted with Al Nassr, he replied, 'Yes'. The latest comments follow those he made in a pre-final news conference on Saturday, when he said that he will almost certainly not leave to play in the Club World Cup despite receiving offers to do so. 'You can't go to everything,' Ronaldo added. 'I've pretty much made up my mind not to go to the Club World Cup.' The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been with Al Nassr since December 2022, after leaving Manchester United, and won the SPL Golden Boot this past season with 25 goals. Ronaldo collected his third trophy with Portugal on Sunday after scoring their second goal in the 61st minute — his 138th for his country — to send the game to extra time and then penalties which they won 5-3. Chelsea sign Strasbourg's Mamadou Sarr on eight-year deal
Chelsea have completed the signing of Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg on a contract through to 2033. In January, the clubs reached a €14million (£11.9m; $14.4m) agreement for the centre-back to move at the end of the season. The France Under-20 international has been signed in time to be included in Enzo Maresca's squad for the Club World Cup. Ligue 1 club Strasbourg and Chelsea are owned by BlueCo, the multi-club ownership group. Welcome to Chelsea, Mamadou Sarr! 🔵 — Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) June 9, 2025 The 19-year-old defender has signed an eight-year deal at Chelsea after making 28 first-team appearances in 2024-25 for Strasbourg, who qualified for next season's Conference League through their seventh-place league finish. Sarr spent six years in the Lens youth academy before spending six seasons at Lyon and spending the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Belgian side RWD Molenbeek. Analysis by Simon Johnson Chelsea rate Sarr highly and always wanted him to join up with the squad as soon as possible. He will be part of the senior group that is going to USA to play at the FIFA World Cup and it gives him an opportunity to learn Enzo Maresca's methods as well as getting to know his new team-mates. Advertisement There are obviously other centre-backs at the club ahead of the 19-year-old in the pecking order. He is still relatively inexperienced and has to adapt to English football. But after considering loaning him back to Strasbourg at one point, Chelsea now look keen to have him involved. The squad will come under greater strain next season now that they are back in the Champions League. While Chelsea have not ruled out buying another centre back this summer, they do not feel under pressure to do so and Sarr is one of the reasons why. (Sathire Kelpa/Eurasia)

Report: Germany debutant Bischof to join Bayern for Club World Cup
(L-R) Germany's Tom Bischof, Thilo Kehrer, David Raum and Robin Koch in action during the final training session of the German national soccer team ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Nations League semi-final match against Portugal. Federico Gambarini/dpa Germany debutant Tom Bischof will reportedly be eligible to join Bayern Munich for the upcoming Club World Cup after the Bundesliga champions agreed to pay a fee to his previous club Hoffenheim. Kicker sports magazine said on Sunday night that Bayern will pay around €300,000 ($342,000) to have the teenager available before July 1. Advertisement The ruling body FIFA has a special transfer window running until Tuesday for the 32 clubs participating at the month-long tournament in the United States which kicks off on Saturday. Players contracts normally end on June 30 and start on July. Bayern have reportedly in a similar way secured the service of Germany defender Jonathan Tah, who arrives on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen. But in this case the fee is said to be up to €4 million. Bayern - who are yet to confirm the reports - play their first match at the Club World Cup on Sunday against Auckland City, with Boca Juniors and Benfica their other opponents in the group stage. Midfielder Bischof made his national team debut on Sunday when he came on in the 65th minute for future Munich team-mate in the Nations League match for third place which they lost 2-0 against France. Advertisement Coach Julian Nagelsmann named Bischof "a super lad, a very, very good character." He said it was also noted that Bischof helped the physios clean up their equipment, speaking of "small gestures which I take notice of." "I hope that he retains this normal, down-to-earth mentality" after the move to Munich, Nagelsmann said, speaking of "a very, very big" step. "He has a lot to offer and is a very, very fine footballer. Of course he still has steps to take. But after the week of training, he deserved his debut," Nagelsmann said. "My strong wish is that he stays as normal as possible. Then he also has a great chance of having a good career."
