
Bahrain's Muharraq Central Market Set for Ramadan Rush, Says Minister
Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, His Excellency Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, conducted an inspection visit to Muharraq Central Market to assess its readiness in terms of services and commercial activity in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
During the visit, the Minister emphasized the ministry's commitment to continuously developing central markets to meet the needs of traders and visitors. He highlighted that Muharraq Central Market, which has been modernized in partnership with the private sector, is one of Bahrain's key markets, serving as a hub for food distribution and supplying Muharraq and surrounding areas with essential goods.
His Excellency stressed the significance of the Muharraq Central Market development project as a model for upgrading markets across the Kingdom. He noted that the visit reflects the ministry's dedication to providing advanced municipal services with the highest levels of quality and efficiency for both citizens and residents.
Minister Al-Mubarak praised the improvements in facilities, organization, and services at the market, which align with visitors' expectations and ensure their needs are met. He also reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to enhancing central markets across Bahrain, referencing the development of Riffa Central Market last year and ongoing plans, including the construction of the new Hamad Town Central Market.
The Minister highlighted the vital role of public-private partnerships in developing central markets, emphasizing that such collaborations help provide modern and sustainable services that cater to the needs of traders and consumers while enhancing service quality.
The Muharraq Central Market project features a modern marketplace accommodating various businesses and retail stores. The market comprises 61 commercial shops, 24 vegetable stalls, 36 meat shops, and 42 fish stalls, in addition to a Lulu Hypermarket on the first floor.
Spanning 28,000 square meters —four times the size of the old market—the newly developed facility consists of three floors, including a ground-level parking area with a capacity for approximately 180 vehicles, as well as a large hypermarket and multi-purpose retail spaces on the upper floors.

Arab trade opportunities open for Bahraini manufacturers via new industrial platform
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has urged Bahraini manufacturers to register on the Arab Industrial and Mining Products Requests and Offers Platform ( an initiative launched by the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization. The platform is designed to connect Arab manufacturers with business opportunities across the region, aiming to boost economic integration and increase trade volumes. Dr. Khalid Fahad Al-Alawi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Development at the Ministry, described the platform as a valuable opportunity for Bahraini manufacturers to showcase their products at the Arab level and gain insights into the needs of regional markets in the industrial and mining sectors. He noted that this initiative aligns with the Industrial Sector Strategy (2022–2026), which focuses on supporting national exports and enabling Bahraini manufacturers to expand their reach and compete for regional purchasing contracts.
