Tenant Farmers in Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam struggle to obtain CCRCs
SRIKAKULAM: The fate of tenant farmers remains unchanged as Crop Cultivators' Rights Cards (CCRCs) are still not being issued to all eligible individuals. The requirement for written agreements continues to hinder tenant farmers' access to land, as most landowners are unwilling to execute such agreements.
The CCRC is vital for tenant farmers to access subsidised seeds and manure, avail crop insurance, receive compensation in the event of crop loss due to calamities, and obtain loans from banks through a simplified process. The previous YSRCP government passed the Crop Cultivators' Rights Act (CCRA) in 2019, which made a written agreement a prerequisite for the issuance of CCRCs.
Due to the lack of written agreements, only a limited number of tenant farmers have received CCRCs. In Srikakulam district, just 223 CCRCs have been issued; in Parvathipuram Manyam, 300; and in Vizianagaram, only 73. 'We can issue CCRCs to tenant farmers only after receiving written consent from the landowner, as per the CCR Act 2019,' said Joint Director for Agriculture (JD-A) K. Trinadha Swamy to TNIE. 'Most landowners are unwilling to provide such consent, so we are unable to issue CCRCs to all tenant farmers,' he added.

The TTD, however, strongly refuted Reddy's allegations, calling them baseless, politically motivated, and harmful to the institution's global reputation. In an official statement, the TTD clarified that the recitation time has been increased and the divine chant 'Om Namo Venkatesaya' now resonates throughout the temple premises, including queue lines, Annaprasadam halls, and footpaths. Officials stated that the reforms were introduced to enhance transparency and improve services for devotees.

Sharmila accuses Jagan of supporting ‘objectionable' comments by YSRCP cadre
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila has accused YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of backing the objectionable and inflammatory remarks made by his party's supporters during his visit to Rentapalla in Palnadu district. 'Unfortunately, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy is supporting such violent statements instead of condemning them,' Mr. Sharmila told the media at the Congress office in the city on Friday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to talk LAC during China visit on June 25-26
NEW DELHI: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Defence Ministers Meeting (SCO-DMM) in Qingdao, China. Notably, Singh and Pakistan Defence Minister Khwaja Asif will be attending the SCO meeting, marking the first such occasion since Operation Sindoor. However, no bilateral meeting is planned with Asif. Coincidentally, Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur, on Friday, flagged off the first batch of Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims since the 2020 India-China border standoff on Sikkim. It is seen as a step to ameliorate the bilateral situation. Ten batches plan to visit Kailash Mansarovar from Nathu la this year. Singh is expected to hold bilateral meetings, including talks with his Chinese counterpart Admiral Dong Jun, and Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov. The Defence Minister last met the Admiral at the 11th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus forum in Vientiane, in November last year. The meeting is expected to add to the relationship normalisation process between India and China which continue to jointly deploy more than one lakh soldiers with equipment and armaments along the 832-km Eastern Ladakh since May 2020.
