Plane crashes in Florida, killing 3 on board
BOCA RATON, Fla. (WTVO) — A small plane crashed in Boca Raton, Florida, causing a fiery explosion and three people to die.
The crash took place near Military Trail and Glades Road. The crash was close to Boca Raton Airport.
The Cessna 310 was carrying three people and crashed around 10:20 a.m. while it headed to Tallahassee International Airport.
The three people who died have yet to be identified.
Pablo Tafur, a driver who sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, said he was going to work when he had to swerve out of the way to avoid the falling plane.
'I saw the plane fly low and continued through and next thing I know it's on top, right in front of me and exploded, impacted right in front of my car and it crashed I tried to steer out of the way but it was pretty much unavoidable,' Tafur told . 'Got out of the car that was on fire, through the flames, and made it to safety.'
Boca Raton Police closed the streets where the investigation is still taking place.

2 year old critically injured in Rock County crash
LA PRAIRIE, Wis. (WTVO) — A two-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries in a three-vehicle collision in Rock County on Sunday afternoon, police said. According to the Rock County Sheriff's Office, around 2:13 p.m., the 2-year-old was a passenger in a GMC Terrain driven by a 25-year-old man from Milton, who was traveling east on US 14. As the GMC began to slow to make a left-hand turn onto S. Henke Road, a Cadillac XT5, driven by a 56-year-old man from Janesville, failed to slow and crashed into the back of the GMC, sending it to spin into the intersection and collide with a Jeep Gladiator that was traveling west. The 2-year-old was evacuated by helicopter to a local hospital. All the other occupants were taken to hospitals for treatment and released. The case is still under investigation, police said. 5 Rockford residents under suspicion after AK-47, other weapons found in Freeport rental house
FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Freeport Police found an AK-47 and multiple other firearms after a disturbance at a rental property, and charges are pending against five people from Rockford. Officials said officers were called to a home in the 1800 block of Indian Springs Court around 10:51 p.m. after guests in the basement area of the home were violating terms of the rental agreement. Officers said a loaded pistol with an extended magazine was in plain view on a living room table when they moved in to clear the individuals gathered within. Once police saw the gun, they detained five individuals, who were identified as residents of Rockford. The owner of the property gave police permission to search the space, and police said they found AK-47 rifle and seven semi-automatics equipped with high capacity magazines, three of which were outfitted with illegal 'switch' devices to make the guns fully automatic. Freeport man charged in connection with shooting of Chicago police officer
CHICAGO, Ill. (WTVO) — A Freeport man is charged in connection with the death of Chicago police officer Krystal Rivera. Rivera was killed last Thursday during the pursuit of Adrian Rucker, 25. to Chicago Police, officers were called to East 82nd Street and South Drexel Avenue for reports of a man with a rifle. When they arrived, Rucker ran into an apartment building and was pursued. Inside, police said Rucker confronted officers with a rifle. One of the pursuing officers fired a shot, which struck Rivera in the back. As officers were attempting to take her to a local hospital, the car crashed and caught fire, and another squad car was called to transport Rivera. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police said they recovered three handguns at the scene, including two AR-style pistols, along with heroin and crack cocaine. Rucker was arrested two blocks away. Authorities said there were six warrants in multiple counties for Rucker's arrest. He faces charges of armed violence, possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owners Identification, possession of a fraudulent ID card, possession of a controlled substance, and six arrest warrants.
