Brooos please nooo: In Trump vs Musk, Ye (Kanye West) and Bill Ackman try to play the peacemaker

Time of India3 days ago

Once seen side by side at Mar-a-Lago and the White House, President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk are now locked in a very public and politically charged feud. The fallout has triggered not just a market reaction—Tesla shares plunged over 14%—but also a flood of commentary from billionaires, political figures and investors urging the two to reconcile.
The tipping point came this week when Trump threatened to revoke billions in government contracts and subsidies to Musk's companies. Musk, in turn, declared he would end SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft operations and went as far as suggesting Trump's name was being suppressed in the Jeffrey Epstein documents.
Bill Ackman, Ye and Jim Jordan appeal for peace
On Thursday, hedge fund billionaire Bill Ackman made a direct appeal for calm. Posting on X, Ackman wrote:

'I support @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk and they should make peace for the benefit of our great country. We are much stronger together than apart.'

Musk replied, 'You're not wrong.'
The call was echoed by rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, who added on X, 'Broooos please noooooo 🫂 We love you both so much.'
— kanyewest (@kanyewest)
Meanwhile, Congressman Jim Jordan told Fox News' Laura Ingraham, 'I hope Elon Musk and Trump will reconcile.'
Steve Bannon suggests SpaceX takeover
Not everyone is in a forgiving mood. Steve Bannon, once a close Trump ally and now a critic of Musk, took a harsher stance. On his War Room Live show, Bannon said:
'The U.S. government should seize it,' referring to SpaceX.
'The administration should strip Musk of his security clearance and suspend all federal contracts to Musk's companies, pending an investigation.'
Bannon called on Trump to use the Defence Production Act to nationalise SpaceX, citing national security.
Musk lashes out over tax bill
The dispute began when Musk publicly criticised Trump's Republican tax bill, labelling it the 'Big Ugly Spending Bill' on X. He argued that its elimination of electric vehicle tax credits would worsen the national deficit.
Musk said he had never seen the final version of the bill, which was rushed through overnight. Trump responded during a White House briefing, accusing Musk of 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' and insisted Musk had been consulted.
Behind the policy fight is a deeper breakdown. Musk, who once chaired Trump's Department of Government Efficiency, now accuses him of policy sabotage and political betrayal.
Wall Street reacts: Tesla shares plummet
The market impact was immediate. Tesla shares plunged more than 14% as investors panicked over the political fallout.
Dan Ives of Wedbush described the clash as, 'Jaw dropping and a shock to the market.'
He warned it could reshape the regulatory landscape for autonomous vehicles under Trump's leadership. Still, Ives maintained a bullish view on Tesla, calling the row a 'fly in the ointment' rather than a full reversal.
Ross Gerber of Gerber Kawasaki took a harsher tone, 'Elon going postal on Trump and Tesla stock is getting walloped. Trump will be returning his new Tesla and is saying he got musked. All this can't be good for shareholders.'
Speculation on new political alliances
Musk's suggestion of forming a centrist political party gained traction. Billionaire Mark Cuban supported the idea, and former candidate Andrew Yang amplified it, imagining a 2028 Independent primary featuring Cuban, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon and actor Matthew McConaughey.
Political analyst Ian Bremmer weighed in, posting on X, 'Trump is more powerful than elon, but far less competent.'
Strategic fallout: National security concerns grow
David Rosenberg, of Rosenberg Research, warned the feud may undermine U.S. dominance in space technology:
'The politics of what Musk is doing may actually be the most significant part of that.'
Given SpaceX's central role in U.S. aerospace and defence strategy, any disruption to its federal contracts could have far-reaching consequences.
From allies to adversaries: a relationship in reverse
Until recently, Musk and Trump were close. Musk had endorsed Trump after he survived an assassination attempt, celebrated with him on election night, and even brought his son to the Oval Office.
But all of that collapsed this week. On Thursday, Musk stepped down from his role at the Department of Government Efficiency. He launched into a stream of critical posts, while Trump fired back on Truth Social.
The split may have started over tax policy, but now it's personal—and political. And with both men commanding immense influence over money, media and public opinion, their feud could reshape not just alliances, but elections.

Gurjar protesters disrupt train services after mahapanchayat

Jaipur/Alwar: Disgruntled elements who participated in the Gurjar mahapanchayat, called by Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti convenor Vijay Bainsla in Bharatpur's Peelupura Sunday, damaged railway tracks and halted the Kota-Mathura passenger train on the busy Delhi-Mumbai line. The two-hour disruption, which had a cascading effect on the movement of over 12 trains scheduled on the line, was unleashed by an unruly group of youths after Bainsla called off the mahapanchayat following the Rajasthan govt's acceptance of the community's charter of demands, including one to include the 5% MBC reservation in the 9th Schedule. "We are happy with the govt's statement today. For the first time, the state govt has decided to approve the inclusion of the 5% MBC quota in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution in the state cabinet. Once it is approved in the state cabinet, the govt will send it to the Centre for further processing. We thank the chief minister for this," Bainsla told TOI. Angry Gurjar youths, who demanded immediate action from the govt, however, blocked the busy Delhi-Mumbai railway line for over two hours, from 4:30 pm, damaging about one km of the tracks about 150 meters away from the site of the mahapanchayat. As a result of the protests, Avadh Express that runs from Bandra Terminus to Barauni Junction in Bihar was halted at Fateh Singhpura station, while Saugor-Nizamuddin train was stopped at Sawai Madhopur station. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo As protests started to spread, IG Bharatpur zone, district collector, and SP arrived at the scene and persuaded the protesters to vacate the area, managing to clear the track by 6:30 pm. "The halted train departed after a team of DRM Kota repaired the tracks. All the protesters dispersed. I spoke to a few remaining protesters at the spot who have also been dispersed," said Rahul Prakash, IG Bharatpur Range. Prakash said rail movement was restored on the Delhi-Mumbai route via Karwadi-Pillu Ka Pura route on the Bayana section. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Kota division of West Central Railways (WCR), Sourabh Jain, said, "We were informed at 4:33 pm on Sunday that some people moved on to sit on the railway track between Fateh Singh Pura and Dumariya Stations near Pillu Ka Pura. The train no. 54794 Mathura-Sawaimadhopur fast passenger train was halted in the section." "In coordination with State Police and Railways, the people on the track were removed at 6:46 pm through convincing and pursual. The 54794 passenger train has departed from the halt, and other trains have also resumed on track. In the entire episode, around 10-12 trains suffered delays," he added. Sunday's mahapanchayat was called despite the Rajasthan govt, through Home Minister Jawahar Singh Bedam, conveying that it would address the demands raised by the community, including full benefits of 5% reservation in govt jobs and education for most backward classes (MBCs). Bainsla read out the govt draft to the community members, after which it was unanimously agreed to call off the mahapanchayat. However, several community members opposed the govt draft and decided to block the railway tracks. Following the protest, Bainsla and other committee members left the venue, after which angry youths decided to move their protests to the rail tracks.

Satcom permit may force Starlink to share information on illegal kits seized

Elon Musk 's Starlink's satcom permit from the Indian government will make it mandatory for the company to share information, including details of users or owners of satellite kits seized in the country, particularly in the North-East region in the past few months, information the US company was unwilling to share earlier. India's security agencies have pointed out the misuse of Starlink devices in Indian territory, especially in the border areas, officials said. But the Musk company hasn't been cooperating in sharing details of those devices. Officials said Starlink asked the security agencies to put their requests either via the US law enforcement or international protocols. This had forced the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to write to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in March to investigate the matter, officials aware of the details told ET. The DoT is yet to submit a report to the MHA. But officials say, now that a satcom license has been given to Starlink, it will have no choice but to share those details. Else, the company could be issued a show cause notice and even face revocation of license. An ET query sent to SpaceX, parent of Starlink, remained unanswered. ETtech Live Events Various ministries coordinate when it comes to national security. Since commercial satellite communication services, particularly through low earth orbit (LEO) operators like Starlink, is a new phenomenon, its impact is yet to be ascertained. However, the security agencies have seized some terminals that were active in the Indian territory in the Northeast region and sought details of the owners. Discover the stories of your interest Blockchain 5 Stories Cyber-safety 7 Stories Fintech 9 Stories E-comm 9 Stories ML 8 Stories Edtech 6 Stories The DoT was asked to investigate the matter and take preventive measures to safeguard national interests. Experts believe that the situation may become more complicated as Bhutan and Bangladesh are now commercially offering Starlink services and the terminals may be smuggled into Indian territory as geofencing the exact location of the international border will have limitations. Security is topmost priority when it comes to satcom and so far, none of the three licensees-Bharti group-backer Eutelsat OneWeb, Reliance Jio-SES and Starlink-have got security clearances, hobbling commercial services. While Eutelsat OneWeb and Jio-SES joint ventures have got trial spectrum and conducted demonstrations for security requirements, Starlink is yet to be given such airwaves. The US company was given a Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite permit only last week. Officials said while the Jio-SES demonstrations are almost over, it is expected to take more time for Eutelsat-OneWeb. Both OneWeb and Jio-SES have satcom permits and nods from space regulator IN-SPACe for over two years. In contrast, Starlink is yet to receive the nod from the regulator.
