Holyoke police warn residents of fraudulent EZ-Pass texts
Superintendent of Springfield Police Lawrence Akers told 22News that this will help the SPD to take on their every duties. He said they rely on the body-worn cameras, which plays a huge role in transparency with residents in the community.
The tasers also provide the department with a less than lethal force that is safer for everyone, and the updated software will allow everyone to work together and stay up to date.
'It is something that we needed,' Akers said. 'Over the last couple of decades, we have not really updated our systems to where they are up to par to what we needed today.'
Superintendent Akers said by bringing their software systems into one, it will allow them to stop working in silos. In the past, they had different departments doing different tasks, but soon everyone can be on the same page.
He said by bringing it all together, it will also save the department millions of dollars while benefitting taxpayers as well.
