A cocoa beach elementary school gets a new acting principle after unruly house party
Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan is on administrative leave after a recent house party at her Cocoa Beach home.
Cocoa Beach police arrested her and teacher Karly Anderson on Friday. Investigators say more than one hundred minors showed up for the 'white lie party' that allegedly involved underage drinking.
Police were told similar parties happened once or twice a month. And students also told investigators there was marijuana use at the most recent party.

Both Hill-Brodigan and Anderson were charged with child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
They've been placed on administrative leave from Brevard Public Schools.
Brevard Public Schools has appointed Dr. Jennifer Clarke, Director of School Leadership, as acting principal at Roosevelt while the district seeks Hill-Brodigan's replacement.

Just outside campus today, grandparent Kimberly Bounds said, 'I'm really not sure what to say to my kids or my grandson. He's asking why she got arrested. It's just sad.'

In a letter to families, Brevard County Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell said, 'I am very troubled by the information that CBPD has shared with the district. We hold our leaders to the highest standards, and if these allegations are true, it's a complete failure in leadership and a violation of our trust. The district is cooperating fully with police as they investigate this matter and will strive to provide families with full transparency.'

Ex-sheriff Victor Hill plans to run against Rep. Nikema Williams in Democratic primary
Former Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill announced on Tuesday night that he plans to run for Congress. Hill, who was released from federal prison last year, said he will challenge Georgia Rep. Nikema Williams in the 2026 Democratic primary. Williams, who succeeded the late Rep. John Lewis in Georgia's 5th Congressional District, was re-elected in Nov. 2024. Hill said he was encouraged to consider a congressional run by his fellow inmates at Forrest City Federal Correctional Institution in Arkansas. 'They also became my political advisors.. it was their idea,' said Hill in the announcement on his podcast. 'They are the ones who told me that hey, a convicted felon can run for Congress.' Jurors found that Hill caused physical pain and bodily injury to six men by strapping them down and leaving them in restraint chairs inside the Clayton County Jail, sometimes for hours. After his guilty verdict, the state revoked Hill's law enforcement certification. Under Georgia law and POST rules, an officer is not allowed to continue in that capacity with a felony conviction. Hill, who was convicted in 2022 for violating the constitutional rights of detainees by ordering them to be held in a restraint chair for hours, served time in federal prison and was released last spring. In April 2024, he lost an appeal to overturn his conviction. He is currently serving six years of probation. Lawton man facing two felony drug charges following traffic stop in Wichita Falls
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A Lawton man's traffic stop in Wichita Falls led to the discovery of a gun and drugs in his car. Zachary Hill was arrested and charged on Sunday, June 8, for possession of marijuana over 4 ounces, less than or equal to 5 pounds, manufacture-delivery of a controlled substance more than or equal to 4 grams, less than 400 grams, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. He also had a charge out of Wise County for possession of marijuana. Burglary suspects arrested for breaking into jailed man's home Wichita Falls police stopped Hill Sunday just before 4:15 a.m. in the 1700 block of Seymour Highway. Police said one of the officers saw an open beer can of Modelo in the center cup holder next to Hill. Officers then searched the vehicle and found a red bag on the floor behind the driver's seat, containing 15 Ziplock baggies and three small black bottles of marijuana, weighing 16.65 ounces, 10 grams of THC vapes, and 6 grams of THC gummies. A Taurus PT 738 TCP .380 ACP was also found between the driver's seat and center area, along with three cell phones and $2,712 in cash. Police said Hill told them he knew what would be found in the vehicle and that he worked at a dispensary in Oklahoma.
