AGA denies leaving Universal Music to avoid Joyce Cheng

5 Jun - AGA has recently dismissed the notion that she is leaving Universal Music so not to compete with Joyce Cheng, whom reportedly will be signing to the record label. The singer, who spoke to the media after winning Outstanding Pop Singer Award at the 46th Top Ten Chinese Golden Songs Awards recently, said that she will not renew her contract with the label after it expires this month, ending their 12-year partnership. "I am grateful to the company and this has nothing to do with Joyce. Like many people, I miss Joyce Cheng's music very much. I believe everyone wants to see her make more music," she said. AGA also added that Universal did not contact her about the renewal of the contract, and she has no plans to switch to other companies. However, she will continue to work hard to make many good songs and hope to perform for fans. Asked if she has plans to marry fiance Cheng Tsz Bong this year, AGA said, "It depends on fate. I will go to Australia to accompany my parents first, because they are old and both of them need surgery. I want to spend more time with my parents. My fiance will stay in Hong Kong for work and will not come with me." (Photo Source: AGA IG, am730, Mingpao)

Wicked: For Good Trailer Sees Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Return to Oz

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo return to Oz in the first trailer for . Wicked: For Good is the forthcoming sequel to 2024's Wicked. Releasing in United States theaters this coming November, the movie sees Grande reprise her role as Glinda and Erivo return as Elphaba. Check out the Wicked: For Good trailer below (watch more trailers and clips): Following the events of the first Wicked movie, the Wicked: For Good trailer sees Glinda and Elphaba on opposing sides as Oz has now decided they hate the Wicked Witch of the West. This puts Glinda in an awkward position as she's now becoming more involved with Oz's politics while also having allegiance to her friend. Along with Grande and Erivo, the cast of Wicked: For Good includes Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and Bowen Yang as Pfannee. Wicked: For Good adapts the second act of the popular 2003 stage musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman. The musical, itself, is a loose adaptation of Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which in turn is based on L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz book, which was adapted into the infamous 1939 movie with Judy Garland. Jon M. Chu returns to direct Wicked: For Good. Prior to working on the Wicked movies, Chu made 2008's Step Up 2: The Streets, 2010's Step Up 3D, 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation, 2015's Jem and the Holograms, 2016's Now You See Me 2, 2018's Crazy Rich Asians, and 2021's In the Heights. Wicked: For Good will be released in United States theaters on November 21, 2025, from Universal Pictures. Wicked, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on Peacock. ‘Wicked: For Good' trailer highlights Elphaba and Glinda's bond – with a cameo from Dorothy and her little dog, too

Universal Pictures on Wednesday unveiled the trailer for the sequel to 2024 hit 'Wicked,' based on the Tony-winning Broadway musical. The promo clip for the new film, which is tilted 'Wicked: For Good,' seemingly picks up just where last year's first installment left off, with Glinda (Ariana Grande) in a tower high up in the Emerald City at night, beckoning for her schoolmate, friend and de facto rival Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) to make herself known. From there, viewers are treated to fleeting glimpses of Elphaba working her magic, Glinda adorning herself with a glittering crown and a peek at some menacing flying monkeys. The stakes were set by the end of the first film, with Elphaba now branded as 'The Wicked Witch' by both Madame Morribe (Michelle Yeoh) and the Wizard of Oz himself (Jeff Goldblum), who are both seen in pursuit of her in the new trailer. Also back for the new film is Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), now a prince, who Morrible also recruits to rein in Elphaba. Seemingly through it all, the unflappable bond between Glinda and Elphaba remains, with the two singer-actresses belting out refrains from the Broadway show's second act and the song from which the sequel gets its title. Other curious snippets in the trailer for the new film feature callbacks to the 1939 classic 'The Wizard of Oz,' to which 'Wicked' serves as a preamble, including the Yellow Brick Road and even Dorothy, Toto and the Cowardly Lion. At the end of the trailer, Elphaba says, 'I'm off to see the wizard.' Last year's 'Wicked' became the highest-grossing film based on a Broadway musical, and it earned 10 Oscar nominations, including best picture and acting nods for both Grande and Erivo. It won two statues – one for best achievement in production design and one for costume design. 'Wicked: For Good' will soar into theaters on November 21.
