The top military commanders declared on Thursday that "no one can coerce Pakistan through the use or threat of force" and that the hostile elements trained and financed to incite chaos in the country will be decimated.
The declaration was made at the 270th corps commanders' conference chaired by Army chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the GHQ in Rawalpindi, according to a statement issued by the military's media wing, the ISPR.
The forum extended its felicitations to the army chief on his conferment as Field Marshal, acknowledging his strategic foresight, resolute leadership and enduring contributions to national defence.
The ISPR stated that the forum reaffirmed "Pakistan's unyielding resolve" to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any act of aggression or misadventure.
The corps commanders, while reiterating Pakistan's strategic stance, declared: "No one can coerce Pakistan through the use or threat of force. The nation will take all measures necessary to safeguard its vital interests."
The forum deliberated in depth on the threat posed by India-backed terrorist proxies operating in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Following its military failure in the wake of the Pahalgam incident, India, the so-called and self-claimed victim of terrorism but actually a perpetrator of terrorism and epicentre of regional instability, has upscaled the use of covert means, employing non-state actors to pursue its destabilisation agenda, it observed.
The top military commanders resolved that Pakistan will never allow its peace to be compromised by externally-sponsored terrorism. The armed forces, in close synergy with intelligence and law enforcement agencies, will pursue all proxies and facilitators of terrorism with unrelenting resolve.
"These hostile elements, trained and financed to incite chaos and fear, will be dismantled and decimated with full force of national will and institutional strength, Insha'Allah," they said.
The forum undertook a comprehensive review of the prevailing internal and external security environment, with particular emphasis on the successful conclusion of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, a decisive chapter of Marka-e-Haq, the ISPR stated.
The military top brass offered Fateha for the martyrs of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos and the heinous terrorist attack in Khuzdar, Balochistan, an atrocity perpetrated through India-sponsored proxies which resulted in the loss of four innocent children and two adults.
"The forum unequivocally condemned this barbaric act, noting its deliberate targeting of non-combatants, particularly children, as a reprehensible violation of all norms of humanity and international conduct," the ISPR stated.
The forum also paid solemn tribute to all martyrs of Marka-e-Haq who laid down their lives in defence of the nation during India's unprovoked aggression. "It reaffirmed that the sacred blood of the Shuhada (martyrs) shall not go in vain and safety and security of the people of Pakistan will continue to be the foremost priority of the armed forces."
The participants lauded the professionalism, synergy, courage, and resilience of Pakistan's armed forces and the unwavering support of the nation, which together repelled aggression with exemplary precision and resolve.
"The forum acknowledged Pakistan's media and information warriors who stood in step with the state against Indian propaganda onslaught, fake news and war hysteria, while accurately portraying facts and figures thereby fostering public trust and countering misinformation," the ISPR statement added.
The top military commanders wholeheartedly recognised the spirit and dynamic contributions of the Pakistani youth, whose passion and patriotism rallied the national spirit as well as projection of national narrative.
"The forum saluted the political leadership for their foresight and steering the nation during the Marka-e-Haq with utmost clarity, conviction and resolve," according to the ISPR statement.
It was noted that history would recall with pride Pakistan's swift and resolute defensive posture, which neutralised a grave threat within hours of its emergence. Pakistan responded with strategic restraint and operational clarity, upholding both deterrence and moral authority, the military's media wing stated.
The top military commanders also undertook a strategic overview of the regional environment, including the security posture along the Line of Control (LoC), the Working Boundary, and the eastern border, in light of the recent Pakistan-India conflagration.
The forum expressed deep concern over persistent human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). It condemned these actions as they contributed to organic backlash and perpetuated cycles of violence.
The forum underscored the urgent need for international attention and intervention to prevent further deterioration of peace and security in South Asia. The military commanders "reiterated full diplomatic, political, moral and humanitarian support for Kashmiri brothers and sisters and their just resistance for right of self-determination."
The army chief commended the high morale, operational readiness, and professionalism of all ranks, as well as the steadfast support of the Pakistani nation, the military media wing stated. "He emphasised the blessings of Almighty Allah in guiding national efforts and directed all commanders to maintain a heightened state of vigilance and preparedness to address evolving threats across the spectrum."
He reaffirmed the Pakistan Army's pivotal role in ensuring internal stability and securing national frontiers. He expressed profound appreciation for the enduring support of the people of Pakistan.
"The people of Pakistan are our greatest strength. We remain committed to their trust and expectations in our shared struggle against any foreign aggression, terrorism and extremism," he added.
The conference concluded with the field marshal expressing full confidence in the operational capability, preparedness and unwavering morale of all formations and institutions entrusted with the defence of the country.

Israeli military strikes Beirut's southern suburbs

BEIRUT: Israeli air strikes pummelled the southern suburbs of Lebanon's capital late on Thursday, sending thousands of people fleeing on the eve of a Muslim feast day and prompting accusations by top Lebanese officials that Israel was violating a ceasefire deal. At least 10 strikes hit Beirut's southern suburbs - a sprawling area known as Dahiyeh - in a wave of bombing that began about 90 minutes after the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for four sites in the area. It was the fourth time that Dahiyeh has been bombed since a U.S.-brokered truce in November ended a year-long war between Israel and Iran-backed Lebanese armed movement Hezbollah. The ceasefire says Hezbollah must pull all military equipment and fighters out of southern Lebanon and says all non-state fighter groups must be disarmed across the country. The Israeli military said on Thursday that it was planning to strike 'underground UAV production infrastructure sites that were deliberately established in the heart of civilian population' in Dahiyeh. It said Hezbollah was producing thousands of drones there, 'with the direction and funding of Iranian terrorists.' There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah, which in the past has denied placing military infrastructure in civilian areas. A Lebanese security source told Reuters that Lebanon's army had received a notice earlier on Thursday that military equipment was being stored in one area in Dahiyeh. After visiting the site, the army determined there was no such military equipment stored there. 'Then, the Israeli military put out their warning. The army tried to enter Dahiyeh again to search again and prevent the strikes, but Israeli warning strikes blocked the troops from entering the area,' the source said. The strikes sent thick plumes of smoke billowing over the district until midnight, according to Reuters footage. Thousands fled, causing traffic gridlock. Most ended up fleeing on foot to relatives' homes, and others stayed out in the streets. Israeli strikes also hit the southern Lebanese village of Ain Qana, according to Lebanese state media, shortly after evacuation warnings were issued for the area. The attacks occurred as the Muslim holiday Eid Al-Adha was due to begin on Thursday. The strikes 'generated renewed panic and fear on the eve of Eid Al-Adha,' the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon said on X. Israel strikes south Beirut, prompting Lebanese appeal to ceasefire guarantors Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam both condemned the attacks as a 'blatant violation' of international agreements. Hezbollah and Israel accuse each other of not fulfilling the terms of the truce, which has looked shaky in recent months. Israel's military has continually targeted southern Lebanon and Israeli troops still occupy five hilltop positions in the south. Israel has struck Beirut's suburbs three times since the truce was agreed, mostly in response to rocket launches from Lebanon. Hezbollah denied involvement in those launches. The latest war between longtime foes Israel and Hezbollah began in October 2023, when Hezbollah launched rockets at Israeli military positions in solidarity with its Palestinian ally Hamas. Israel escalated the following year in a heavy bombing campaign that killed thousands of Hezbollah fighters, destroying much of its arsenal and eliminating its top leadership, including its then-secretary general Hassan Nasrallah.

PTI activists protest outside SHC, brave police brutality

During the hearing for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Patron-in-Chief Imran Khan's bail plea in the Al-Qadir Trust case, PTI leaders and workers staged a protest outside the Sindh High Court (SHC) under the leadership of PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh. The protesters demanded the release of Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and other PTI leaders in custody, along with their acquittal in the false cases filed against them. During the peaceful demonstration, a police contingent attempted to arrest Haleem Adil Sheikh and other leaders. However, PTI lawyers intervened, and escorted Sheikh and the others into the court premises. Haleem Adil Sheikh stated, "our protest was peaceful, yet the police resorted to brutality and violence, which we will challenge in court. A civilian dictatorship has been established in Sindh, and martial law has been imposed across the country." Sheikh further said that Imran Khan has remained falsely imprisoned for over 600 days, stating, "the 26th Constitutional Amendment has resulted in a massacre of justice, and the judiciary has been weakened." Regarding the Al-Qadir Trust case, Sheikh asserted that Imran Khan is not a beneficiary and has committed no corruption, and instead "the real corruption was committed by Asif Ali Zardari and others, who purchased flats in London using stolen money, with the Sharif family as the beneficiaries. Imran Khan, on the other hand, established Al-Qadir University for religious education."

Conflict with India: Gilani praises Britain's behind-the-scenes diplomacy

ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani took centre stage on Thursday in a high-stakes diplomatic sit-down with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott – pitching Pakistan as a peace-driven, climate-hit, and investment-hungry nation eager to deepen relations with the UK. Calling himself 'a man of peace,' Gilani praised Britain's behind-the-scenes diplomacy for easing tensions between nuclear neighbours Pakistan and India during the recent four-day clash between the two archrivals. With Marriott nodding along, Gilani pressed the UK to double down on its counter-terror cooperation and back efforts to stamp out extremism and cross-border threats – code for trouble brewing from across the Indian border. Gilani didnot mince words, once again calling for a UN-backed peaceful resolution to the decades-old flashpoint of Kashmir dispute, while urging London to use its diplomatic muscle. Gilani also flashed Pakistan's humanitarian credentials, reminding the world Pakistan has hosted more than three million Afghan refugees over the years – and is still footing the bill. He pleaded for global help in fixing what he called a simmering refugee crisis. On the green front, Gilani sounded the climate alarm. With Pakistan battered by floods, droughts, and rising temperatures, he pitched partnerships with Britain on everything from clean energy to disaster response. On trade, Gilani said that the £4.1 billion in annual volume barely scratches the surface of what Pakistan and the UK could achieve, urging both sides to unlock the 'untapped goldmine' of economic potential. He called for fresh trade deals, a surge in UK investment, and faster, friendlier student and work visas, saying it is time to supercharge academic links and crank up economic engines on both sides. Cybersecurity, defence, intelligence, training – Gilani put them all on the table during his meeting with Marriott, sketching out what he dubbed a 'dynamic and forward-looking' UK-Pakistan partnership. Marriott, for her part, gave a diplomatic thumbs-up, praising the 'constructive dialogue' and pledging Britain's full-throttle support for a safer, greener, and more prosperous Pakistan.
