There Are Multiple Trade Proposals For Kirk Cousins
There Are Multiple Trade Proposals For Kirk Cousins originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Cousins signed a $180 million contract with the Falcons in 2024 and would end up struggling in his first season with the team. Now, as it stands, Cousins is linked to multiple teams around the league and could be moved real soon.

Multiple teams in both conferences have multiple trade proposals for Cousins, and all of these teams are in need of a veteran presence at quarterback. All of these teams have assets and any one of them could be the next home for Cousins.

Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers need a quarterback more than any other team in the NFL, as their number one is currently Mason Rudolph. They also do not have experience outside of Rudolph on the roster, and have not been able to sign Aaron Rodgers.
The proposal would send multiple draft pics, along with a swap of a Day 3 pick to the Falcons for Cousins. A sixth-round pick that can turn into a fifth rounder, depending on how much Cousins plays, and Atlanta might have to pay most of the guaranteed money owed to him.

Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings had traded for Sam Howell during the draft, and he is currently the backup for J.J. McCarthy. The proposal for the Vikings would send Howell and a few day three picks to the Falcons.
Vikings would pay around $12 million of the guaranteed money and help the Falcons more than most teams. The Vikings would not mind reuniting with Cousins and having a veteran presence in the locker room for McCarthy.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns already have four healthy quarterbacks on their roster, but none of them are screaming full-time starter. They have been linked to Cousins all off-season and that only lowered when they drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

The trade proposal would send Kenny Pickett and multiple picks to Atlanta for Cousins. It all depends on how the quarterbacks show out at OTA's and training camp.
These three teams could make a move at any given moment, and the Falcons could make calls all around the league.

49ers No. 1 Offseason Storyline Could Be Bad News
49ers No. 1 Offseason Storyline Could Be Bad News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The No. 1 offseason storyline for the San Francisco 49ers this year could be devastating for a team that needs a rebound year in 2025. Advertisement San Francisco posted just six wins and a 6-11 season last year, and missed out on the playoffs entirely while finishing last place in the NFC West. Hopes of a resurgent 2025 are strong with the newly signed Brock Purdy and a hopefully healthy Christian McCaffrey. But so far through the offseason, reports are that McCaffrey doesn't look right. Grant Cohn of SI thinks this all started after McCaffrey's fumble in the Super Bowl. "McCaffrey fumbled in the red zone during the opening drive of the game. He went on to average just 3.6 yards per carry against the Chiefs," Cohn wrote. "Then last season, when he finally returned from bilateral Achilles tendonitis, he averaged a mere 4.0 yards per carry and never ran faster than 17.4 miles per hour. Then, he tore his PCL after just four games. This past week at OTAs, McCaffrey still didn't seem that have the fifth gear that made him so special when he was younger. Advertisement "He used to reach his top speed effortlessly -- now, he has to strain and drive his knees harder." Garrett Podell of CBS Sports noticed the same thing. "In 2023, three-time Pro Bowl running back McCaffrey was the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year, and the 49ers reached overtime of the Super Bowl before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs," writes Podell. "In 2024, McCaffrey played four games while dealing with bilateral Achilles tendonitis and a PCL injury in his knee, and the 49ers went 6-11. Those 11 losses were tied for second by a team in the season after a Super Bowl loss ever. "How much the soon-to-be 29-year-old running back participates in mandatory minicamp and how he looks will be something to watch because San Francisco's 2025 hopes may rest on his banged-up body." Advertisement It could be really bad news for the team and its fans, unless McCaffrey is just taking it easy this offseason in anticipation of giving it a full go in 2025. Let's let this thing play out a little before we jump to any conclusions. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy could be in the running for MVP in 2025.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy could be in the running for MVP in 2025. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The San Francisco 49ers had a disappointing 2024 season, as they finished dead last in the NFC West with a 6-11 record. But Brock Purdy will be looking to lead them right back to the playoffs this season to redeem themselves. Advertisement The NFL Most Valuable Player Award is the prize that everyone wants and chases after over the course of the season, and the 49ers star quarterback may have a shot at competing for it this season. According to Sharp Football Analysis, the 49ers have the easiest schedule in the NFL in 2025 by a pretty wide margin. This means that Purdy will hopefully be looking good while the teams wins some games. But if you look towards the end of the season, that is where the 25-year-old field general will really get to shine. After their BYE in Week 14, the Niners will face the Tennessee Titans, the Indianapolis Colts, the Chicago Bears, and then they finish their season off at home against the division rival Seattle Seahawks. The thing is, only one of those four teams had a winning record in 2024. Advertisement It's the last portion of the season that will have a big impact on who wins the MVP, and Purdy could be looking really good as the season winds down. It would also be a good story, especially with Purdy being the very last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. If he is able to win the MVP Award, he will go from 'Mr. Irrelevant' to 'Mr. Relevant' very quickly. Panthers' Brad Marchand Receives Eye-Opening Free Agency Prediction
Panthers' Brad Marchand Receives Eye-Opening Free Agency Prediction originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Florida Panthers are in the middle of the Stanley Cup Final against the Edmonton Oilers, and the team is directly focused on winning the series. But once the season is over, the front office is going to have some tough decisions to make. Advertisement Star center Brad Marchand will be entering free agency and is expected to command a lot of money on the open market. When the Panthers traded for Marchand, they knew that he could be a rental, but there is always a chance he stays in town as well. But NHL insider Chris Johnston provided an eye-opening prediction on the free agency of the star player. 'I think next season he's going to make the most money he's ever made in the NHL,' Johnston said. 'I think he's getting a raise. I've been led to believe that $8 million is about the number it's going to take — again, it might be a little higher, a little lower, but that's essentially the range for Marchand.', Johnston said. Florida Panthers center Brad Marchand (63) reacts after scoring a goal against the Edmonton Oilers during the first period in game one of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final at Rogers Nelson-Imagn Images Marchand has posted five goals and 10 assists over 18 playoff games with the Panthers this season. The veteran has been a big reason why Florida was able to get back to the Stanley Cup Final, and he remains a very productive player. Advertisement There will likely be multiple teams going after him on the open market, and everything will depend on what Marchand wants. The center has fit in very nicely alongside the other players on the Panthers, but whether the team will open the checkbook remains unknown. Florida also needs to resign center Sam Bennett, and it could force them to make some hard choices. Either way, Marchand is focused on helping Florida win the Stanley Cup for now and will deal with the free agency stuff after the fact.
