Nintendo Released New Footage Of ‘Wind Waker' Running On Switch 2
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Nintendo
We're less than a month away from the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, so Nintendo is trickling out more details and footage of games in action. Today, over on the Nintendo Today! app, they shared a new look at The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker running on Switch 2 via the Nintendo Classics subscription.
You can see the footage here, which shows a few different scenes including combat, different environments, sailing, and more. It looks like a really smooth way to play the GameCube classic.
Notably, this is not the HD version of the game that released previously on the Wii U, but is instead an emulated version of the GameCube original. That means it won't have the spruced up visual sheen, HD graphics, widescreen format, or slew of quality of life improvements the remaster got. This is the original version of the game as it released for GameCube back in 2002.
Wind Waker is one of three GameCube games that will be available on Switch 2 at launch as part of the Nintendo Classics program included in the Nintendo Switch Online (with Expansion Pack) subscription. The other two games at launch are F-ZERO GX and Soulcalibur 2, but they've got several more coming soon like Luigi's Mansion, multiple Pokemon games, Fire Emblem, and more.
I have no idea what's slated next, but I imagine games like Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Super Smash Bros. Melee are probably surefire bets. Since I enjoy speculation and predicting things though, I made a list of 13 other GameCube games that would be perfect for the platform, if you want some ideas yourself. There are tons of great games on that platform that have never been ported elsewhere and they could help bolster the lineup of titles in a big way.
Hopefully we still get the HD version of Wind Waker on Switch 2 at some point, but for now the original GameCube version is a welcomed addition to an admittedly sparse launch lineup for Nintendo's new console.

Today's ‘Wordle' #1456 Hints, Clues And Answer For Saturday, June 14th
How to solve today's Wordle. SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images Looking for Friday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: Hooray and huzzah! It's Saturday! The day of Saturn—the one day of the week that celebrates a Roman god instead of Norse/Germanic gods. The rain of early June has departed and now we're in the mid-80s, which is a lot hotter when you're at 7,500 feet above the sea. The sun is brutal. I have to remember to wear sunscreen or I crisp right up. That won't be an issue while we solve today's Wordle, of course. The Hint: Spooky. The Clue: This Wordle has far more consonants than vowels. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Today's Wordle Screenshot: Erik Kain Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. BLOAT was a great starting word, leaving me with just 18 remaining words and two green boxes. I couldn't think of a perfect word with all new letters, so I went with four new letters in an attempt to rule out the one remaining vowel I thought might be a problem. SHUNT shaved off every possible solution but one: GHOST for the win! Today's Wordle Bot Screenshot: Erik Kain Sadly, the Bot and I tied today so we get 0 points for that. We each get 1 point for guessing in three. Our June totals inch up while the gap remains the same: Erik: 11 points Wordle Bot: 8 points The word ghost comes from Old English gāst, meaning "spirit" or "soul." It is related to Old High German geist (spirit) and is likely from a Proto-Germanic root gaistaz. The deeper origin is uncertain, but it may be linked to the idea of breath or life force. Konami Confirms SILENT HILL 1 Remake with Bloober Team — GeekTyrant
Konami isn't done resurrecting Silent Hill projects. During their latest Press Start showcase, the publisher officially confirmed that the original Silent Hill (1999) is getting a full remake, and the team behind the recent Silent Hill 2 remake, Bloober Team, is developing the game. The reveal came via a brief but haunting teaser, with music pulled straight from the original game, a nod to longtime fans who know exactly what that tune signals. Originally released in 1999, Silent Hill introduced players to Harry Mason, a father searching for his missing adopted daughter, Cheryl, in the fog-drenched, cult-riddled town of Silent Hill. What starts as a desperate search slowly unravels into something far more disturbing, as Harry is pulled into a world of occult rituals and psychological horror. I stayed up all night with a friend of mine playing this game, and it scared the hell out of us, and it was one of my most memorable gaming experiences. The game was the foundation for what would become one of gaming's most iconic horror franchises, and while Silent Hill 2 tends to get all the critical love, the original game's eerie storytelling and dread-soaked design laid the groundwork. It makes sense that Konami and Bloober would want to bring new players back to where it all started—especially if the plan is to revisit Silent Hill 3 , which is directly tied to the first game's narrative. While the announcement didn't include a release date, the renewed partnership between Bloober Team and Konami seems to signal a long-term investment in Silent Hill's legacy. As for what's coming next, Silent Hill f is still on track for release on September 25, 2025. That standalone entry follows Shimizu Hinako as she fights off horrifying creatures in a twisted version of the fictional Japanese town Ebisugaoka. It promises a very different flavor of horror, but with the same mind-bending atmosphere the franchise is known for. Watch the trailer below. It starts at the 35:26 timestamp.

Sony isn't worried about the Switch 2 being the fastest-selling piece of Nintendo hardware ever, because you need the PS5 for "a great experience on big screens"
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. As you've no doubt noticed, the Nintendo Switch 2 is now available worldwide. The new console's arrival is sending ripples through the industry, but Sony isn't concerned, because the PlayStation 5 hardware is simply on another level. Hideaki Nishino, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, was asked about Nintendo's latest system and whether there were any concerns about what it offers during a recent business segment meeting. He starts by mentioning that competition is good, and companies successfully launching products is good for everyone, before taking a more pointed stance. "We have a differentiated strategy. PS5 is designed for an immersive gaming experience, and this includes the innovative DualSense controller features as well," he says. "We believe PS5-level performance is required to achieve a great experience on big screens. And in this way, we have provided a unique offering for players and creators in this current console generation." In the face of increasing multi-platform releases, Nishino reiterates the goal of making the PS5 the finest option for creative teams looking to reach a wide audience. "We have empowered our creators to leverage our offering and services to create amazing, unique experiences for players with high engagement and great monetization opportunities," he explains. "We have done this consistently as the industry and competitive dynamics have evolved. And of course, PlayStation Studios, our franchises, have a special role in showcasing the PlayStation experience and then strengthening the player's vision with us." With the likes of God of War and The Last of Us, Sony has managed to maintain its exclusives remarkably well, breeding a particular kind of loyalty in the process. These games do court an older fanbase than the home of Super Mario and Zelda aims for, but Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, believes they have something for everyone. "In addition to our franchises with more, I would call it 'multi-generational' fanbases, such as Marvel's Spider-Man, we also have franchises that appeal to a range of different player segments. Horizon is a good example, it's been very popular with female players, Astro Bot from our lovely Team Asobi in Tokyo, it's been a hit with children and adults alike," he explained. There are pros and cons to every machine and platform. There's still only one place you can play Mario Kart, and it's not where Kratos lives, but you're unlikely to see The Last of Us 3 anywhere near the Switch 2 either. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 is built with portability in mind, whereas the PS5 favors cinematic, at-home playing. It's all about finding what suits you.
