Goa records 10 active Covid cases
Panaji: Goa has 10 active Covid-19 cases, as per figures released by the Union ministry of health and family welfare. The state has also reported the recovery of one Covid-19 patient in the current wave.
A health official said the state is monitoring the situation and it remains under control. He said there is no need to fear Covid and people should follow Covid guidelines, including wearing face mask in crowded and confined places.
Current mild infections do not warrant concern. However, vulnerable groups, including those over 75 years and comorbidities, should take extra precautions, doctors said.

Dr. Chitnis's journey in medical research is deeply rooted in his upbringing. Pune holds a special place in Dr. Chitnis's heart. Childhood summers spent at his grandparents' home in Deccan Gymkhana, exploring nearby hills with cousins, evoke memories of a serene, green Pune. His parents' decision to settle in the city post-retirement deepened his connection. Today, as Pune evolves into a bustling hub of innovation, Dr. Chitnis is eager to engage with its academic and research communities, blending personal nostalgia with professional aspirations. From IIT Bombay to UC Berkeley, the National Institutes of Health, and the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in Delhi, Dr. Chitnis's career spans continents. His work at ICGEB, supported by robust government backing, laid the foundation for his current efforts in Paris. A significant breakthrough came during the COVID-19 pandemic when delayed vaccine trials at Oxford revealed that a 14-month gap between doses reduced malaria parasite growth—an unexpected finding inspired by similar COVID-19 vaccine insights. This discovery, coupled with advancements in mRNA technology, fuels his cautious optimism for future malaria solutions. The Padma Shri holds deep significance for Dr. Chitnis. Health Minister reviews power supply readiness in govt. hospitals
Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha chaired a review meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday, focusing on uninterrupted power supply in government hospitals and monsoon-related preparedness. Highlighting the need for seamless electricity in emergency medical services, the Minister directed officials to assess and improve the functioning of power generators across government hospitals. He instructed the installation of automated generators in facilities currently lacking such infrastructure. To enhance hospital-level power management, he also called for the temporary appointment of electrical engineers and the provision of essential backup equipment and supplies. The Minister stressed the need for close coordination between district medical officials and Electricity Department personnel to ensure 24x7 power supply to hospitals, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. He also reviewed preparations for tackling seasonal diseases in the wake of monsoon. He instructed officials of the Telangana Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGMSIDC) to procure adequate stocks of COVID-19 test kits and medicines for diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. He underscored the importance of sanitation and inter-departmental coordination in preventing outbreaks and ensuring timely availability of medicines in government health facilities.
