Sooners freshman catcher Corri Hicks enters the transfer portal
The Oklahoma Sooners are in offseason mode after being eliminated from the 2025 Women's College World Series in their 3-2 loss to Texas Tech. The Sooners will regroup and retool to make another run in 2026, but they've already experienced their first transfer portal loss.
True freshman catcher Corri Hicks entered the transfer portal on Tuesday evening. Hicks was considered the No. 12 player in the 2024 recruiting class and the No. 2 catcher. She played a limited role for the Sooners in 2025 but made an impact off the bench.
In her lone season with the Sooners, Hicks hit .261 with three home runs, eight RBIs, five walks, and had an on-base+slugging percentage of 1.045. She went 2-for-4 in the NCAA Tournament with a home run against Boston and a base hit against Cal.

Tony Vitello discusses returning to Arkansas for Fayetteville Super Regional No. 14 national seed Tennessee (46-17) advanced to a super regional after winning the Knoxville Regional. The Vols will face No. 3 national seed Arkansas (46-13), Saturday-Monday, in the NCAA Tournament Fayetteville Super Regional. The Fayetteville Super Regional will mark the Vols' second series at Arkansas in 2025. Arkansas won a regular-season series finale against Tennessee, 2-1, May 15-17, at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Since playing at Arkansas to conclude regular-season play, the Vols have compiled a 5-2 record in the SEC Tournament and Knoxville Regional. Tennessee defeated Alabama and Texas, while losing to Vanderbilt in the SEC Tournament. 'I think every game we've played since we've been there has been basically cut-throat,' Vitello said. 'I know it's double elimination format once you get to the regional. Different type of format going to Hoover this year, and we've had some good appearances or runs in Hoover, but we've also had a couple times, whether it went good or bad, the first day wasn't great. Our guys were tremendous against Alabama right out of the chute, and then the Texas game. I haven't rewatched it, but I'm going to wait and we'll rewatch the whole regular broadcast, not just our scouting report one, because it was an ESPN classic. I don't see how that one didn't help both teams in some way, shape or form, or at least I can say that it helped ours. Didn't go the way we wanted in game three, and then, you know, we go to the regional, but all those scenarios, whether they were positive or negative on the scoreboard, were great for our team. 'So, little more experience, little more maturity, and then I think as the years gone on, blame the coaches or me for taking too long, but I think it's been a year where you're kind of sorting out what do you want the lineup to be, where you want certain pitchers to go, and I think we have a better understanding of that now than maybe we did back then, or definitely prior to that.' Jason Richardson shares how his son, Spartans star Jase Richardson spurned Alabama for MSU A longstanding Michigan State basketball tradition was apparently a major factor in why Jase Richardson ended up as a Spartan instead of at Alabama. Jase Richardson and his dad Jason Richardson -- also a former Michigan State basketball star -- were on Podcast P with Paul George earlier this week, and Jason shared a fun story of how Jase ended up at Michigan State like his father. According to Jason, it appeared Alabama was the leader to land Jase's commitment but an upcoming visit to Michigan State was planned during the Spartans' annual "Grind Week" event -- which brings together former Michigan State players, current players and recruits for a weekend of festivities. Jason said during the interview that he told the Alabama coaching staff that if they let Jase visit Michigan State during "Grind Week" that he'd end up a Spartan. Alabama apparently tried to get Jase to shift his visit schedule knowing the magnitude of what Jason said, but it was too late. Jase went on his visit to Michigan State during "Grind Week" and the rest is now history. Check out the clip from podcast interview with both Jase and Jason below: Seeing this kind of connection between the Michigan State basketball players (former, current and potential future) is a really cool thing. "Grind Week" has always been a fun and impactful event for the program and this is just another use case where that occurred. Jase is projected to be a first round pick in the NBA Draft later this month. Jase is a fringe lottery pick after starring during his freshman season at Michigan State so it is safe to say he made the right choice in coming to Michigan State.
