Knicks' Kevin McCullar Jr. drops second straight triple-double in G League
New York Knicks rookie Kevin McCullar Jr. recorded a triple-double for the second straight game in the G League, helping the Westchester Knicks defeat the College Park Skyhawks on Friday.
McCullar produced a season-high 23 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and three steals in the 130-125 win in overtime at the Gateway Center Arena. He went 10-of-21 from the field, including 1-of-3 from 3-point range, and was a plus-16 in 42 minutes on the court.
The 56th pick is now one of six players with multiple triple-doubles in the G League after finishing with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists on Wednesday. He had 14 points alone in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead the Knicks down the stretch.
McCullar, signed to a two-way contract, debuted with Westchester on Jan. 30 after missing the start of the season due to a knee injury sustained last season at Kansas. He underwent offseason surgery and began training camp by rehabbing with the New York training staff.
The 24-year-old is averaging 11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals on 39.2% shooting from the field in 11 appearances with Westchester. He has scored in double figures six times, including three 20-point performances.
With three regular-season games left, McCullar will likely remain with Westchester. After missing most of the season, McCullar will look to maximize his development and finish his rookie campaign with positive momentum heading into the summer.

Katie Benzan, a former Terp and Mystic, ascends to NBA G League GM
Katie Benzan used to play a game with her older brother, envisioning different NBA scenarios. Who would LeBron James play best with? Or how would Stephen Curry fit alongside so-and-so? Common banter for a couple of basketball junkies. Little did she know she would find herself years later in position to evaluate players and build a real team. The former Harvard and Maryland standout, who briefly played for the Washington Mystics, was named the general manager of the Salt Lake City Stars, the G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, on Tuesday. The 27-year-old becomes the youngest active GM in the league and the youngest female GM in G League history.
