Both went seven games, both saw the Lakers as the No. 1 seed out of the Western Conference (or division, as they were called in 1969), the Celtics won in 1969 (Bill Russell's final game as a player and 11th championship) and the Lakers won in 2010 (Kobe Bryant's fifth and final title). 'We've got our work cut out for us." — Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton.

NFL Insider Drops Bombshell Aaron Rodgers-Pittsburgh Steelers Update

NFL Insider Drops Bombshell Aaron Rodgers-Pittsburgh Steelers Update originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Most NFL reporters have been under the impression for weeks that four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers has told the Pittsburgh Steelers verbally that he intends to play for them in 2025. Advertisement Rodgers' personal biographer Ian O'Connor even said as much last month during an interview with 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh. 'I just think verbally, behind the scenes, not that he guaranteed it, but he's told [the Steelers], 'Listen, I'm going to play for you. I just don't want to go there and then miss part of mandatory minicamp because of my personal issues. I'm pretty sure they're going to be solved by the end of May, at least in my satisfaction where I can give you my all,'' O'Connor said. Many believe the Steelers' passing on multiple quarterbacks in the first few rounds of the 2025 NFL draft before selecting Ohio State's Will Howard in the sixth round was a clear sign they believe Rodgers gave them that verbal confirmation he'll be there come next season. New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) and Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin (right).Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images However, during a recent appearance on the 'Rich Eisen Show,' NFL Network's Tom Pelissero recently reported that isn't exactly the case. Advertisement 'I have been told that he has not affirmatively told the Steelers that he's coming,' Pelissero said. 'Certainly all the indications, if you look at it logically, are that he's coming based on his comments about, 'There's a team that plays in Chicago (this year) that I might play for,' 'I'm not playing in New Orleans.' 'He took one visit, he's been throwing with DK Metcalf, he talks all the time with (head coach) Mike Tomlin, I know he's talked with (offensive coordinator) Arthur Smith. There's all these signs that he's coming but he's not affirmatively said, 'Hey, June 9, book me the ticket, I'm coming in and I'm going to join this team.' That has not happened as of this point.' Rodgers announced on the 'Pat McAfee Show' that he's been dealing with matters in his personal life that have prevented him from 100% committing to the Steelers right now. Advertisement But because Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has shown his willingness to wait on Rodgers, some analysts believe the 41-year-old QB could be taking advantage of the situation. 'Yes, they're operating as if the guy is going to be there, but every day that goes by, you just have that sense of A- what's the holdup? Why does it have to be like this?' Pelissero continued. 'And B- is it possible that one of the most unique people in the NFL in the modern era ends up making a unique U-turn at the end of this thing?' Giants left with one more rookie to sign after Darius Alexander inks deal

And then there was one. Third-round pick Darius Alexander became the sixth member of the Giants' seven-man draft class to sign his rookie contract Monday, leaving only fourth-rounder Cam Skattebo unsigned. As the No. 65 pick, Alexander's contract is expected to be worth about $6.75 million over four years under the NFL rookie wage scale, according to Advertisement Giants defensive tackle Darius Alexander (91) signed his rookie contract on Monday. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST Like all Giants draft picks, Alexander competed in rookie minicamp and has participated in OTAs without signing because of a waiver protecting him against injury. Defensive tackle arguably is the most upgraded position on the roster, but Alexander is fighting for a starting spot alongside Dexter Lawrence. Advertisement Free agents Roy Robertson-Harris and Jeremiah Ledbetter also were added to the position where Rakeem Nunez-Roches, D.J. Davidson and Jordon Riley are returning. Running back Cam Skattebo (44) when the Giants held Rookie Minicamp Saturday, May 10, 2025 Robert Sabo for NY Post 'Trusting my coaches and the veteran guys out there believing in them, taking coaching from them while they're helping me,' Alexander said after his first practice in the NFL. 'So next thing after that, it'd be just effort, just going out there running fast to the ball everywhere it goes. So, I'd say that's the key to success right there.' Advertisement Alexander, 24, spent six seasons at Toledo and was one of the stars of the Senior Bowl. The Giants refused to trade the No. 65 pick in the deal that allowed them to move from No. 34 to No. 25 to land quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Indiana Fever sign Aari McDonald as emergency player after Caitlin Clark injury

Indiana Fever sign Aari McDonald as emergency player after Caitlin Clark injury Show Caption Hide Caption Caitlin Clark's quad injury could affect Fever for next two weeks Caitlin Clark will miss at least two weeks with a left quad strain. Indiana Fever fans may be worried, but Clark is confident in her teammates. Sports Seriously With Caitlin Clark still out with an injury, and other players on the roster getting banged up, the Indiana Fever have added a guard to help. Indiana signed Aari McDonald Monday via an emergency hardship exception. The exception allows any WNBA team to sign a player immediately if it has less than 10 game-eligible players available at any time during the season. The signing comes as Clark remains sidelined due to a left quadriceps strain that was announced following the loss to the New York Liberty on May 25. The 2024 WNBA rookie of the year will miss at least two weeks with her first possible game back on June 10 at the Atlanta Dream. Clark isn't the only injured player the Fever have. Sophie Cunningham and Sydney Colson were injured in the team's loss to Connecticut Sun on Friday, leaving Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull as the only healthy point guards for Indiana, paving the way for the Fever to sign McDonald. 'When I got the call I was very excited, very blessed," McDonald said Monday. "It's a humbling experience to join a team like the Fever, and I'm excited, ready to compete and just win.' Indiana is 2-4 on the season and is on a three-game losing streak. What to know about Aari McDonald McDonald burst onto the scene as a member of the Arizona Wildcats after starting her college career at Washington. She had a memorable senior season in Tucson as she was named Pac-12 player of the year and led Arizona to its first Final Four appearance in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats advanced to the national championship and lost by one-point to Stanford. She was drafted third overall in the 2021 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream and was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team in her first season. McDonald played three seasons in Atlanta before she was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks prior to the 2024 season. She played in 26 games for Los Angeles and was released by the team before the start of the 2025 season. In four years in the league, McDonald has averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 assists and 2 rebounds per game. When do the Indiana Fever play next? The Indiana Fever host the Washington Mystics on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The game will be televised on NBA TV and can be streamed on WNBA League Pass.
