Now the League One side have unveiled projected images of what the upgraded Edgeley Park could look like.
Stockport want to increase the capacity of the ground from 10,852 to around 18,000.
The revamp will see an initial 600 seats added to the North Stand, with the terraced Railway End behind the goal to be increased from a capacity of 1366 to around 4500.
Work on the two stands could begin this year, while the South Stand could be developed later to sit 5,500 fans.
New hospitality, food and beverage facilities will also be built as part of the expansion.
Once that work is completed, the western side of the North Stand could be expanded to fit in an additional 600 seats.
Plans for the new Edgeley Park aim to improve accessibility for disabled supporters and make the stadium more environmentally friendly.
Stockport plan to produce a true 'community stadium' with "access to a wide range of spaces for the local community".
Non-Executive Chairman at Stockport County Ken Knott, said: "We are delighted to be bringing forward plans for the expansion and enhancement of Edgeley Park to create a true community stadium.
"We know just how much the ground means to the fans and local community; it has been at the beating heart of Stockport for over 120 years.

"Ultimately, we want to ensure that the stadium matches our level of ambition so it can continue to provide a first-rate home for the Club and the local community for many years to come.
"Following our first round of consultation in 2022, we took our time to review and reflect upon the feedback we received, and we have developed our plans accordingly.
"We want to ensure our plans for Edgeley Park provide our fans with the best possible matchday experience, whilst also remaining sensitive to our neighbours and providing the people of Stockport with a range of high-quality new community spaces.
"This is a very exciting time for the club as we continue to go from strength to strength, both on and off the field.
"We have outlined our ambition to reach the Championship, and we have already taken great strides towards reaching this goal over the past two seasons.
"Ultimately, we believe that the expansion and enhancement of Edgeley Park is crucial in order to support the continued growth of the club and provide a platform for further success."

Wimbledon chiefs insist security will be 'a top priority' this year after British star Emma Raducanu's stalking ordeal

Wimbledon say security will be 'a top priority' at the Championships, in a year when Emma Raducanu 's stalking ordeal threw the issue into the spotlight. The 22-year-old was pursued over four countries by a man displaying 'fixated behaviour' and things came to a head in Dubai when the sight of the man in the stands during her match reduced her to tears. Since then, five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek was verbally abused from the sidelines during a practice session at the Miami Open, and Katie Boulter has talked about receiving death threats. 'The safety and wellbeing of all of the players is our absolute top priority,' said Wimbledon CEO Sally Bolton. 'The recent incidents coming to light, we certainly recognise the concern generated by that. 'But we have in place - and have had for many years - processes for ensuring the safety of our players. 'And that is in liaison with law enforcement agencies, specialist security teams and we liaise with both tours. 'It is absolutely a top priority for us. We wouldn't comment on any details in respect of any individual athlete but that intelligence is being gathered working with those other parties throughout the year to make sure we have got the right measures in place.' Two games into her Dubai clash with Karolina Muchova she had to hide behind the umpire's chair and was in tears while a man - who 'exhibited fixated behaviour' - was removed from the arena and later handed a restraining order. Raducanu made her return to action at Indian Wells back in March, but has now spoken about how things have changed for her since the events of Dubai, as she prepares for her first home outing at Queen's. 'I've definitely noticed a difference in how people are watching my back when I'm on the site [at tournaments],' she told BBC Sport. 'I'm obviously wary when I go out. I try not to be careless about it because you only realise how much of a problem it is when you're in that situation and I don't necessarily want to be in that situation again. 'But off the court right now, I feel good. I feel pretty settled. I feel like I have good people around me and anything that was kind of negative I'm just like trying to brush it off as much as I can.'

Hale would 'be an ideal strike partner for Murray... a no brainer'

We asked for your views on whether or not Dundee should sign Ross County striker Ronan what some of you said:Gary: Of course you'd take him. Him and Simon Murray upfront, if they get played as a two are proven goal scorers in the Premiership and it'd seemingly have the makings of a decent pair. Will he come? Or will we even go in for him? As a Dundee fan we've learnt transfer speculation is usually a whole load of stuff and nonsense, but we can Yes definitely! No brainer. Hale would be a great partner for Murray, between the two players last season you have nearly 30 goals, this would be the signing of the close season for sure !Thomas: Yes, he could be a good partner alongside Murray, the new Tommy Coyne and Keith Wright If it's possible for Dundee to get Hale, they certainly should. He'd be an ideal strike partner for Murray and we know Hale can score goals in the top flight. Most other potential signings up front would represent a much bigger We need to try and hold on to Josh Mulligan. Hale would be a good signing, there are a lot of good players in the market now but will they come to Dundee?Alan: Hale would be a marquee signing for Dundee and show the club have ambition - not many signs of that up to now! We should be competing for the top six every season and pushing the boat out, for once, on players like Hale will make that I'd like to see Dundee show some fresh ambition with our signings this year under a new coach, but the owners haven't spent hard cash for transfers historically, which would have to happen to sign him. More loan deals are likely. We definitely need support for Murray.
