
International Yoga Day observed at CUK
The Central University of Kerala (CUK) celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga with fervour at its campus in Periya on Saturday (June 21).
The programme, organised by the Department of Yoga Studies and aligned with the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health', drew around 300 participants, including faculty, students, staff, and members from nearby institutions.
The programme was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Siddu P. Algur. In his presidential address, Prof. Algur underscored CUK's unwavering commitment to commemorating International Yoga Day over the past eleven years.
He also referred to the large-scale national and global celebrations of Yoga Day - including the Common Yoga Protocol being performed at over one lakh locations, the Yoga Bandhan initiative, the ten signature events, and the Yoga Sangam, all of which reflect the rising international acceptance and integration of yoga as both a health discipline and cultural heritage.
Chief guest Prof. K. Krishna Sharma, former Professor at the Department of Human Consciousness and Yogic Sciences, Mangalore University, delivered the Yoga Day message. He highlighted scientific research supporting yoga's role in enhancing mental clarity, emotional regulation, and physical health, emphasising meditation as a core practice for inner transformation and awareness.
The programme featured yoga practices and cultural performances. Participants engaged in the Common Yoga Protocol, including asanas, pranayama, and meditation, followed by the Yoga Pledge to promote yoga's values. Cultural highlights included artistic yoga demonstrations by Yogasana Bharath, a spiritual thread art display, a Bharatanatyam performance, and a dynamic Yoga Dance by Yoga Studies students, showcasing yoga's integration with Indian traditions.

Bengaluru embraces wellness on 11th International Day of Yoga
1 2 Bengaluru: Deep breaths, folded hands, and mindful stretches marked Bengaluru's celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga Saturday. Across multiple venues, the city embraced this year's theme — Yoga for One Earth, One Health — with enthusiasm and collective spirit. The Indian Air Force's headquarters training command (HQTC) observed the day by following the common yoga protocol (CYP) set by the ministry of Ayush. Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, air officer commanding-in-chief, Training Command, IAF, joined personnel and their families for the event. At Command Hospital Air Force, over 150 IAF members and their families also took part. Educational institutions across the city joined in the celebrations. The Taproot Group of Colleges marked the occasion across all its 15 campuses. At The Great Eastern PU College, certified yoga trainer Pradeep Urs led a special session demonstrating asanas such as Vrikshasana, Bhadrasana, and Bhramari. "Yoga connects individuals to the world around them. At Taproot, we value holistic well-being alongside academics," said Sridhar S, director of Taproot Group. At the Vidhana Soudha precincts, more than 5,000 people took part in the yoga event organised by the state govt. Dinesh Gundu Rao, minister for health and family welfare, said Yoga Mandiras would be established in district and taluk govt hospitals in the coming days to introduce yoga to more people in the state.

Himachal Pradesh celebrates Int'l Yoga Day
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh governor Shiv Pratap Shukla joined International Yoga Day celebrations on Saturday, declaring that it was not related to any religion, but a holistic approach to health and consciousness. "People across the world have adopted yoga for physical health and now increasingly for spiritual awakening. Yoga is not just about physical postures; it is also about awakening and awareness," he said. In commemoration of the 11th International Yoga Day, a session was organised at Raj Bhavan in Shimla. Shukla performed yoga along with other participants. Shukla highlighted the relevance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, stating that yoga was a priceless gift designed to strengthen the body, and unite the mind and the soul Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also performed yoga at his residence, Oak Over. He described yoga as "a scientific and spiritual path related to the totality of life". The day was also celebrated at Army Training Command (ARTRAC), with participation by all personnel and their families. The event was led by Shalini Kushwah, regional vice president of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), ARTRAC, an Ayush ministry certified yoga instructor and Art of Living faculty.

Bokaro celebrates International Yoga Day
1 2 3 4 5 6 Bokaro: International Yoga Day was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm across Bokaro district on Saturday under the global theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." Thousands of people from different walks of life participated in various yoga camps, creating an atmosphere of energy and harmony. A major yoga session was held at the Sports Complex in Sector 4, Bokaro Steel City, organised by Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL). BSL Director In-Charge Birendra Kumar Tiwari inaugurated the event alongside senior executives, employees, their families, and school students. Renowned yoga expert Krishna Bandhu Mishra led the session, conducting practical demonstrations of asanas and pranayama. Tiwari, in his address, said "Yoga is not merely physical exercise but a holistic discipline that nurtures physical, mental, and spiritual well-being." Simultaneously, a district-level yoga event was held at Camp 2 Town Hall, jointly organised by the District AYUSH Committee, Ganga Committee, and the Sports Department. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha, SP Harvinder Singh, and several other officials, volunteers, and students attended. The DC underlined yoga's relevance in today's lifestyle. Several schools, including DPS Bokaro, Ayyappa Public School, Chinmaya Vidyalaya and The Pentecostal School also observed the day with dedicated yoga programs. Activities included mass yoga demonstrations, yoga-themed performances, quizzes, and poster competitions. Students and teachers practiced various asanas and meditation exercises, promoting a message of health, peace, and unity.
