Simone Inzaghi will be hoping it is second time lucky when he sends his Inter Milan side into Champions League final battle against Paris St Germain, saying: 'we've made it this far and don't want to stop now.'
The Serie A runners-up will go head-to-head with the Ligue 1 champions at Munich's Allianz Arena on Saturday evening in search of a fourth European crown as they attempt to prolong the big-spending French club's quest to land a first.

Former Lazio striker Inzaghi only made it as far as the quarter-finals as a player, but sampled the bitter taste of defeat as Inter's head coach against Manchester City in Istanbul two seasons ago.

He said at his pre-match press conference: 'We have to step onto the pitch with the determination and desire to win this match. We'll play it our way, with the qualities that brought us here. The journey we've been on, full of challenges, gives us great belief. We've made it this far and don't want to stop now.
'This squad has given me a great deal over four years. We've won a great deal.
'We've lost on the odd occasion, as occasionally happens in football, but I think we've always given everything out there on the pitch, we, the players, the staff, the fans, so we're absolutely proud to represent Inter, and we will do so again tomorrow in the final act of this season's Champions League.

'This is a competition that I dreamt of playing in as a kid. I didn't make it as a footballer, I only got as far as the Champions League quarter-finals, but thanks to this group of players, I will be involved in two Champions League finals as a head coach.'

Inzaghi, who batted away speculation about his future, revealed he has a fully-fit squad from which to choose for the first meeting between the teams in a game which for many is too tight to call, unlike in Inter's last final when City were firm favourites.
He said: 'We were huge underdogs two years ago, but then our performance on the pitch showed that we went toe-to-toe with them and maybe we might have deserved a bit more despite the fact that we were up against Pep Guardiola and Manchester City, the best team in the world at that moment in time.'
Skipper Lautaro Martinez is convinced Inter are a better team now than they were that night, but knows they may have to produce the 'perfect' game to take the silverware back to Italy.

Martinez said: 'We've definitely improved a great deal as a team. We've developed, we've grown.
'We've come up against some top-class opponents in some very challenging arenas – we were up against teams that had long unbeaten home records, yet we turned up there, we played our football, we showed what we're all about and we've earned respect in this competition.
'We've got our heads down, we've worked hard, we've focused on ourselves. We've got Inter to where we are.
'We've got the opportunity to now secure this goal after a number of years. Let's hope this is the right time once again to win the Champions League. We'll try to produce the perfect performance to reach this target.'

Cesc Fabregas says he believes in ‘long-term' Como project amid links to Inter

The former Arsenal and Spain midfielder guided the team to an impressive 10th-place finish in their first top-flight campaign for 21 years helped by a club-record six-match winning run between April and May. A first season in senior management for the 38-year-old ended with his reputation as a head coach significantly raised, reportedly catching the eye of Inter who are without a manager after Simone Inzaghi departed this week in the aftermath of Saturday's 5-0 Champions League final loss to Paris St Germain. 'I really believe in the Como project,' Fabregas said at the SXSW event taking place in London, as reported by La Gazzetta della Sport. 'I started with this club because I was thinking about a long-term project. I don't want to finish my career at a club where there's a project for one or two years and then everything ends.' Fabregas, who is a minority shareholder of the club, joined Como as a player in 2022 and played out the final year of his career with the club in Serie B. After retiring the following summer, he joined the coaching staff, briefly taking charge of the first team as caretaker after boss Moreno Longo was sacked. Welsh coach Osian Roberts took charge for the remainder of the promotion-winning season while Fabregas completed his UEFA coaching qualifications, with the World Cup and Champions League-winner taking over last summer. ⚫🔵✍️#ForzaInter #WelcomePetar — Inter ⭐⭐ (@Inter_en) June 4, 2025 'I really believe in Como's long-term project,' he said. 'I arrived here as a player and I'm very, very happy because I get to work in the way that I want. We have the same goals and the same ambition. 'The President allows me to work the way I want, the way I see things. Fortunately, we share the same vision and have the same goal, which is to go as far as possible. 'We've become a really good team together, in a small town, in a small club but with big, very big ambitions for the future.' Inter meanwhile have signed Croatia international Petar Sucic from Dinamo Zagreb. The midfielder, who has seven international caps, played last season on loan at Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar.

Man United 'made contact' with Aston Villa's Emi Martinez, Argentina media claims... with Ruben Amorim in the market for a goalkeeper this summer after Andre Onana's difficult season

Manchester United reportedly made contact with Aston Villa over signing goalkeeper Emi Martinez in the winter transfer window. United, who endured a miserable campaign, finishing in 15th and missing out on European football for just the second time in 35 years, were looking to bolster their squad ahead of a difficult second half of the season. Current shot-stopper Andre Onana made a number of high-profile errors throughout the campaign and was eventually dropped by Ruben Amorim for United's clash against Newcastle in April. And the Cameroonian's inconsistent form saw the Red Devils turn their attention towards the Argentine. Amorim's side contacted Villa about a move for Martinez in the January transfer window but eventually decided to keep faith in Onana, according to Argentine outlet TyC Sports. That decision may have cost United, with Onana's form failing to pick up in the second half of the season. The 29-year-old made a series of errors, including two in a 2-2 draw against Lyon in the first leg of their crucial Europa League quarter-final. It came after Onana had been involved in a war of words with former United - and now Lyon - midfielder Matic. Matic had taken exception to Onana claiming Lyon are a 'very good team' but that 'I think we are better than them', branding the shot-stopper 'one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United history'. Onana's words came back to haunt him as he made mistakes for both Lyon goals and he was jeered by the French side's supporters throughout the game. His poor form culminated in being replaced by Altay Bayinidir, who made his own clanger during United's 4-1 loss to Newcastle. TYC Sports also claim that United will be interested in Martinez if he leaves Villa this summer. The Argentine, who was named the Best Fifa Men's Goalkeeper for the second time in three years in December, looks set to leave Villa Park. The 32-year-old moved to Aston Villa five years ago from Arsenal and has shone, reaching the Champions League quarter-finals this season. He appeared to bid farewell to Villa fans and was in tears during their final home game, a 2-0 win over Tottenham, last month. He was then sent off in the final Premier League game of the season - a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford which saw Villa miss out on the Champions League to Newcastle. Asked about his future ahead of Argentina's upcoming World Cup qualifiers, Martinez said: 'I don't know, I come here to play for the national team, and that's the only thing that matters to me right now.
