
El Gouna Film Festival Opens Film Submissions for 8th Edition
Filmmakers invited to submit works for El Gouna Film Festival's 8th edition this October.

El Gouna Film Festival has officially opened submissions for its 8th edition, set to take place from October 16th to 24th, 2025. Filmmakers are invited to submit their works between April 1st and June 30th, 2025. The festival will feature competitions in the Feature Narrative, Feature Documentary, and Short Film categories, with participants vying for El Gouna Star awards that come with a total of USD 234,000 in cash prizes.
Additional accolades include the Cinema for Humanity Audience Award, designated for films addressing humanitarian themes, and the El Gouna Green Star Award, reserved for works focusing on environmental concerns.

Since the program's launch in November 2023, more than 60 new companies have been established in Dubai of which 12% are large global companies — marking a growth rate of 16.6% since the launch of the program. The gaming industry has emerged as one of Dubai's most promising economic sectors in recent years. His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, said: 'The recent achievements in the Dubai's gaming industry reflects the success of the city's vision for its future economy — one built on economic diversification and the proactive investment in current and future development opportunities. Belhoul added: 'The gaming sector holds unprecedented economic potential, and Dubai was — and will remain — a land of opportunity and a destination for innovators and creators. The industry offers a wealth of unprecedented opportunities thanks to the supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs and innovative ideas in advanced technology sectors, particularly game development, which is a key driver in enhancing Dubai's global competitiveness and in achieving the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).' Dubai Program for Gaming 2033: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of DFF, launched the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033 in November 2023, with the goal of positioning Dubai among the world's top 10 global gaming hubs over the next decade, with 30,000 new jobs and a $1 billion boost to GDP by 2033. DPG33 focuses on nurturing talent and entrepreneurship, embracing technological advancements, and fostering digital content development, while creating training and employment opportunities with leading global firms and academic institutions, and leads a variety of local and international events, exhibitions, and partnerships that strengthen collaboration between individuals, businesses, and regulatory bodies in Dubai and beyond.

FIFA Announces 2025 Club World Cup Final Half Time
Rana Atef On Monday, FIFA announced the acts of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final. The performance will take place in the half show of the final game, such as Super Bowl halftime shows. Here's Our First Look at "El Sellem Wel Teban" Sequel
Yara Sameh The first look at the sequel to the 2001 romance-drama film 'El Sellem Wel Teban' ('The Ladder and The Snake'), has finally been unveiled. The film stars Amr Youssef, Asmaa Galal, Dhafer L'Abidine, Nicole Saafan, and more. Tarek Alarian, the film's original director and co-writer, is also returning to helm the sequel. Alarian is directing the pic from a script written by Ahmed Hosny. The upcoming film is being touted to be entirely different from the first film, both in terms of visual style and character development. It reunites Galal and Youssef for the second time after collaborating in 2024's "Welad Rizk 3: El Qadya". The film also witness the fourth collaboration between Alarian and Youssef after the Welad Rizk franchise. The sequel was announced at the 7th edition of the El Gouna Film Festival in October 2024. The original film starred Hani Salama, Ahmed Helmy, Hala Shiha, Ragaa Al-Geddawy, Tarek El Tilmisany, and more. Alarian directed the pic from a script he co-wrote with Mohamed Hefzy. 'El Sellem Wel Teban' is centered around Hazem, a reckless young man, who fails at being a good husband and father. His life changes when he meets Yasmin, and they both face issues that force them to fall in love with each other. The film went through many stages during its preparations, during which Hefzy wrote the script in English. Al-Aryan was very enthusiastic about the project, which was different from the films available at that time.
