Five suspects wanted in multiple distraction thefts in Toronto

Toronto police have released photos of five suspects wanted in connection with multiple distraction thefts and frauds throughout the city.
Police said they received reports of five incidents between Oct. 9, 2024, and Feb. 28, 2025.
In each incident, the suspects would approach an elderly victim using an ATM and some of them would allegedly distract the senior while another steals the bank card.
The suspects would go on to use the card and withdraw money, police allege.
Police said they are searching for three men and two women between 30 and 50 years old.
One male suspect stands five-foot-ten to six-foot-two with a medium build, dark-coloured hair, and a full beard. The second male suspect stands five-foot-eight to five-foot-10 with a medium build, dark-coloured hair, and a beard. The third male suspect stands five-foot-seven to five-foot-10 also with a medium build, dark-coloured hair, and a goatee.
Meanwhile, one female suspect is described as standing between five-foot-two and five-foot-eight with a medium build. The other female suspect stands five-foot-five to five-foot-eight with a heavy build and long brown hair.

‘Unusual for him not to return home': Hamilton police continue to search for 62-year-old man missing since Wednesday
John Edwards, 62, has been missing since June 11, 2025. (Hamilton Police Service) Hamilton police continue to search for a 62-year-old man who has been missing since Wednesday. Police say John Edward was last seen on June 11 just before 10 a.m., walking westbound on Baldwin Street from a McDonald's restaurant. 'This was confirmed by surveillance video,' police said. He was reported missing when he did not return to St. Joseph's Villa. Edwards is described as a white male, five-foot-11, weighing over 200 pounds, with a medium to heavy build, shoulder-length brown hair, and light-coloured eyes. Police say he was possibly wearing baggy shorts, a striped blue t-shirt, white socks, running shoes and a baseball-style hat. 'John is known to enjoy walks through local trails and parks in Dundas and is familiar with the area. It is unusual for him not to return home, and there is growing concern for his well-being,' police said in a news release. Police are urging residents and business owners in the area where he was last seen to check their properties, outbuildings and security cameras. Anyone with information about John's whereabouts is urged to contact the Division 30 Staff Sergeant at 905-546-3886.

Area near Disraeli Bridge closed off amid negotiations with armed man: police
The Winnipeg Police Service has closed off an area near the Disraeli Bridge amid an armed and barricaded scenario. (Daniel Timmerman/CTV News Winnipeg) The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) has closed off an area near the Disraeli Bridge and Sutherland Avenue Saturday amid negotiations with a man believed to be armed. According to WPS Const. Dani McKinnon, police were called at about 5:30 a.m. to an incident where sounds of shots were heard in the 100 block of Grove Street. Upon officers arriving at the scene, it was learned that no one was injured and that an adult male, armed with a firearm, had transitioned to the Sutherland Avenue and Disraeli Bridge area. 'Police immediately cordoned off that area and immediately made sure that the community knew that this was an area that should be avoided for public safety,' said McKinnon during a media briefing Saturday afternoon. As of 1:30 p.m., the man is still believed to be in the area according to police. Crisis negotiators and the tactical support team are assisting the situation. '(We're) looking for a very safe resolution for everybody,' said McKinnon. 'This is considered an armed and barricaded scenario.' 'They've spent a number of hours with him, now, communicating, building (a) relationship, as we do with crisis negotiation,' she said. 'Part of it is getting to know that person, how we can help them.' McKinnon said the armed man is known to police and is asking people to stay away from the area. As of 2 p.m., the Disraeli Bridge is open to vehicles but access through the east and west ramps remain closed. Pedestrian and water traffic in the area is not allowed.
