Brad Pitt's L.A. home ‘ransacked' by thieves, say reports
Police in Los Angeles are investigating a break-in at a home reportedly owned by Brad Pitt, who is currently on an international press tour promoting his new feature film F1: The Movie.
L.A. police confirmed officers responded to a break-in Wednesday at about 10:30 p.m. at a house on the 2300 block of North Edgemont Street in the Los Feliz neighbourhood of Los Angeles, The Associated Press reported.

According to officer Drake Madison, three suspects broke into the home through a front window and ransacked the property, then fled the scene with an unknown quantity of miscellaneous items.

Madison said he could not identify who owned or lived in the home, and that no information is currently available on what was stolen.

The home was purchased for US$5.5 million in April 2023, according to Traded, a commercial real estate website.
NBC News first reported the incident on Thursday afternoon, after two police officers familiar with the investigation told the outlet the home belonged to Pitt.
He was not present at the time of the robbery, the sources added.
The actor's representative has not commented on the incident.
Pitt is not the first high-profile individual whose Los Angeles home has been targeted this year.
In February, actor Nicole Kidman and musician Keith Urban's home was broken into around the same time police caught three burglary suspects after a car chase and eventual crash close to Rodeo Drive, a swanky L.A. shopping area.

In January, police in Beverly Hills arrested five suspects — believed to be involved in organized burglary rings — in connection with a wave of break-ins in the city and other nearby locations, including Glendale, San Marino, Los Angeles, Burbank, Pleasanton, Bakersfield, Ventura County, Orange County and San Mateo County.

It is unclear whether those caught in the car chase or arrested in connection with the string of break-ins were responsible for the robbery at Kidman and Urban's residence.
As of this writing, no suspects have been charged in connection with the break-in at Pitt's property.

Diddy's lawyer mocks sex trafficking case, says charges ‘badly exaggerated'
Sean 'Diddy' Combs' lawyer portrayed the hip-hop mogul on Friday as the victim of an overzealous prosecution that twisted his recreational drug use and swinger lifestyle into a racketeering conspiracy charge that could put him behind bars for life. In a closing argument, defence lawyer Marc Agnifilo mocked the government's case and belittled the agents who seized hundreds of bottles of Astroglide lubricant and baby oil at his properties as he began a presentation expected to last several hours. 'Way to go, fellas,' Agnifilo said of the agents. The lawyer said prosecutors had 'badly exaggerated' evidence of the swinger lifestyle and threesomes to combine it with recreational drug use and call it a racketeering conspiracy. 'He did not do the things he's charged with. He didn't do racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking,' the lawyer said. Story continues below advertisement Agnifilo also called Combs' prosecution a 'fake trial' and ridiculed the notion that he engaged in racketeering. 'Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?' Agnifilo asked. 'Did any witness get on that witness stand and say yes, I was part of a racketeering enterprise — I engaged in racketeering?' Story continues below advertisement 'I don't know what Jane is doing today,' Agnifilo said. 'But she's doing it in a house he's paying for.' Referring to lawsuits filed by Combs' accusers, he said: 'This isn't about crime. It's about money. This is about money.' Agnifilo noted that Combs' former longtime girlfriend, the R&B singer Cassie Ventura, sued him in November 2023. Combs settled with her the next day for $20 million, but the allegations in the lawsuit prompted federal law enforcement to open the criminal investigation that led to his arrest. 'If you had to pick a winner in this whole thing, it's hard not to pick Cassie,' Agnifilo said. Ventura and Jane both testified during the trial that they were coerced repeatedly by Combs to perform in drug-fuelled days-long sex marathons with male sex workers while Combs watched, directed, masturbated and sometimes filmed the encounters. Prosecutors, he argued, have invaded Combs' bedroom and his most intimate personal affairs. 'Where's the crime scene? It's your sex life,' Agnifilo said. He also mocked the prosecution's assertion that Combs and his underlings had engaged in hundreds of racketeering acts and their suggestion that many of his so-called freak-offs and 'hotel nights' were crimes. Agnifilo reiterated that the defence 'owns' the fact that Combs was violent, but he argued that behaviour does not justify the grave charges he faces. He said Combs and Ventura had a 'loving, beautiful relationship,' albeit a 'complicated' one. 'If racketeering conspiracy had an opposite, it would be their relationship … they were deeply in love with each other,' Agnifilo said. Echoing the prosecution's closing argument on Thursday, the defence lawyer showed jurors part of the now-infamous security camera footage of Combs attacking Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. Agnifilo acknowledged that the video clearly shows domestic violence, but he disputed the prosecution's theory that the assault was evidence of sex trafficking by force. Pausing the tape several times, he insisted, Combs may have been angry not that Ventura was trying to flee a 'freak-off,' but that she was taking his cellphone. After Agnifilo completes his closing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurene Comey was expected to deliver a rebuttal summation before the judge reads the law to the jury, which is not likely to begin deliberations until Monday.

Teen arrested, charged with murder after Australian millionaire stabbed to death
Police in Brisbane, Australia, have arrested a 15-year-old accused of fatally stabbing a man while attending a house party at his residence. The unidentified teenager was charged with first-degree murder after the body of the 58-year-old victim — millionaire businessman Greg Josephson, co-founder of popular Australian retailer Universal Store — was found at his home in the upscale neighbourhood of Clayfield on Thursday night. 'At this stage, the initial investigation indicates that no other persons were involved other than the 15-year-old boy,' Williams said. Police also located the alleged murder weapon, he confirmed. The teenager — who was refused bail and appeared in children's court Friday — was charged with one count of murder and taken into custody. Several teenagers at the party are co-operating with police and were transported to the station to contact their parents. Police say the victim and accused knew each other, but didn't elaborate on their relationship. A spokesperson for Universal Store confirmed the death of its co-founder in a statement. 'Our sincere thoughts and condolences are with his family at this very sad time.' Josephson co-founded Universal Store in 1999 with his brother Michael, and sold it in 2018 for a reported AU$100 million. Neighbours told Australian outlet 9News that they noticed some commotion. 'I just saw kids come up and congregate and then walk back down the street,' resident Patrick Gallagher said. 'Shocking, it's just unbelievable.' Another neighbour, Corinne Matthews, told 9News she was in 'absolute shock.' 'There was nothing that could give … any indication whatsoever that this ever could have happened,' she added.
