MAKKAH — Minister of Health Fahd Al-Jalajel inaugurated the surgical robot project and viewed the advanced PET-CT imaging device, among a group of advanced medical and technical projects, during his inspection visit to King Abdullah Medical City, a member of the Makkah Health Cluster.
The surgical robot project is one of the latest medical technologies for performing delicate and complex surgeries in the fields of thoracic surgery, urology, uterine tumors, intestinal tumors, and rectum. It is characterized by its high precision and reduced need for human surgical intervention.
It is operated by qualified Saudi surgeons, reflecting the competence of national cadres, contributing to reducing recovery periods, enhancing patient safety, and improving the efficiency of healthcare services provided to patients.
The advanced PET-CT scanner is the first of its kind in the Western Region among the Ministry of Health's sectors and is one of the most prominent modern technologies in the field of medical imaging. It is used for early detection and accurate diagnosis of a number of complex medical conditions, including tumors, heart disease, and neurological disorders. It is distinguished by its ability to provide high-quality images that contribute to increasing diagnostic accuracy and improving the efficiency of treatment decisions.
This comes as part of the Ministry of Health's preparations for the Hajj season, which aim to provide comprehensive healthcare services according to the highest quality and safety standards, and to ensure a comprehensive health environment that enables pilgrims to perform their rituals with peace of mind and health security.

For the Hajj season 1446 AH, approximately 8,000 pilgrims from various Hajj packages, both domestic and international, are expected to use the site. This limited deployment will serve as a critical test of the project's effectiveness and its suitability for meeting the diverse needs of pilgrims, potentially paving the way for expansion across the holy sites. The full project is scheduled for completion by next year's Hajj season, with an expected capacity of up to 20,000 pilgrims. The double-story tent initiative is set to significantly enhance the quality of accommodation services in the holy sites, enriching the pilgrim experience by providing a safe and organized residential environment that supports their well-being and meets diverse needs. It will also create an optimal setting for performing rituals with ease and peace, contributing to greater pilgrim satisfaction and promoting sustainable, efficient land use.

Saudi Arabia's health sector sees 145% surge in beneficiaries in 2024
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's Health Sector Transformation Report for 2024 has revealed substantial improvements in the quality, accessibility, and efficiency of healthcare services, aligned with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 objectives. According to the report, more than 33 million individuals benefited from the services and pathways of the Saudi healthcare model by the end of 2024 — a 145% increase compared to the previous year. The integrated model is designed to deliver tailored, comprehensive healthcare that meets the varying health and age-related needs of the population. Patient satisfaction with medical services reached 83.38%, reflecting enhanced service integration and overall improvement in healthcare delivery across the Kingdom's regions. Insurance coverage also saw significant growth, with over 13 million beneficiaries now accessing health services through insurance schemes, supporting greater equity and access across different segments of the workforce front, the report highlighted that more than 30,000 individuals have graduated from Saudi Board programs since their number of Board seats increased by 71% compared to 2021, underscoring the Kingdom's commitment to empowering national healthcare professionals and sustaining the Arabia also led the region in promoting healthy living environments. In 2024, 16 cities were designated as 'healthy cities' in line with World Health Organization standards — the highest number in the region. These designations aim to improve quality of life and support healthier lifestyles across urban centers.

120 catheterization procedures and 11 open-heart surgeries performed for Hajj pilgrims
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Saudi medical teams have performed 120 cardiac catheterizations and 11 open-heart surgeries, and treated 25 heat stress cases among the Hajj pilgrims from the beginning of the current Hajj season until Friday, Dhul Hijjah 3. This is part of an integrated field response system supported by specialized teams and advanced equipment. The health system provided more than 81,000 services to pilgrims, receiving more than 48,900 pilgrims at health centers. Emergency departments admitted 19,219 patients, outpatient clinics received 949 patients, and 3,515 patients were hospitalized, including 1,730 in intensive care. The health system continues to provide its services with high efficiency, based on proactive plans and an integrated system that ensures the highest quality standards. This is aimed at providing a safe and comfortable environment for pilgrims during the Hajj season, as part of its ongoing commitment to achieving the highest levels of healthcare.
