First lady congratulates Copts on Easter, wishes Egyptians continued happiness

CAIRO – 20 April 2025: First Lady Entissar Amer expressed her heartfelt congratulations for the Coptic people of Egypt on Easter.
In a social media post on Sunday, the first lady extended her prayers to Allah to grant the Copts and all Egyptian people well-being, happiness, and lasting love.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi also extended his congratulations and best wishes to Egyptian Copts on Easter in a social media post earlier on the day.
'I wish you a happy holiday filled with goodness and blessings, and may your families enjoy happiness and joy,' the president said in a message on his social media accounts.
'I pray that Allah preserves Egypt and its people, keeping it a beacon of tolerance and coexistence among all its citizens.'
He prayed that 'the values of love and peace flourish, uniting us under the banner of one homeland.'
'Happy Easter to you all.'
As Egyptian Copts celebrate Easter, Head of Egypt's Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II led the Easter mass at Saturday night at the St Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo's Abbasiya district.
A representative of President Sisi attended the mass, alongside various ministers, high-level state officials, diplomats, public figures, and media professionals, joining hundreds of Christian worshippers.

Taarek Refaat Abdel Motaleb Amara, Governor of Luxor received Senator Tim Sheehy, a member of the US Congress, as part of his visit to Egypt and the accompanying high-level delegation. The meeting witnessed an open dialogue between the two sides, addressing ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. The Senator began his speech by expressing his happiness at being in Luxor for the second time after 22 years. He expressed his admiration for the positive changes taking place in the city and his amazement at ancient Egyptian civilization, emphasizing that Egypt is a country with a rich civilization dating back thousands of years. Sheehy added that Egypt is an important and ally in the Middle East region, and that it has a promising economic future over the next five years. He expressed his hope for strengthening American partnerships in Egypt and praised the country's ongoing comprehensive development efforts, particularly in infrastructure modernization and the renewable energy sector. On his part, the Governor of Luxor welcomed the US Senator and explained the governorate's economy, which is based on the cultural tourism sector, followed by agriculture and industry. He emphasized that tourist bookings have increased this year compared to last year, and that the booking rate for the upcoming tourist season is very promising and exceeds previous years, despite global events. The governor added that despite the hot June weather approaching, the continued growth of tourism in Luxor has not been affected. He attributed this to the stability and security Egypt enjoys thanks to the wisdom of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who assumed the presidency 10 years ago. He also praised US support for the country. The US Ambassador to Cairo attended the inauguration of the new drinking water station in the village of El-Hanady, east of Esna, south of Luxor. This station will serve approximately 10 villages by 2024. The station was funded by the US Agency for International Development. French President praise mediators' efforts to reach ceasefire in Gaza
CAIRO – 30 May 2025: French President Emmanuel Macron praised Egypt and Qatar for their efforts to achieve a ceasefire, saying, 'I salute the Egyptian, Qatari, and American efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza. We cannot leave Israel free to do whatever it wants in Gaza.' Hamas said on Friday that it is still consulting with Palestinian forces and factions regarding the US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff ceasefire proposal in Gaza that was received via mediators. In another statement, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) called on the Hamas leadership to exert more efforts, in cooperation with Arab mediators, to reach an agreement to halt the aggression in the Gaza Strip, even for 60 days. The statement explained that this period would be sufficient to allow for regional and international initiatives to develop the situation in the favor of the Palestinian people. The official spokesman for DFLP said that given the impasse in the ongoing negotiations with the US administration to halt the aggression on the Gaza Strip, due to Washington's clear bias towards the Israeli position of continuing the war, the Front is fully confident that the Hamas leadership is fully aware of the grave dangers facing our people if a ceasefire is not reached immediately. High hopes are pinned on the US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff ceasefire proposal in Gaza after Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu announced accepting it; while Hamas said in a statement that it has received it via mediators and will 'study it responsibly'. The new suggested proposal is to secure a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza and allow aid to enter the Strip following the two sides' approval. The White House also expressed its optimism with the new proposal from envoy Steve Witkoff according to Axios, saying that this proposal expected to help bridge the remaining gaps between Israel and Hamas and produce a ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza soon. 'If each side moves just a bit, we could have a deal within days,' Axios quoted a source. In case Hamas announced its approval; the United States President Donald Trump will explain details of the new brokered deal. According to Israeli reports, Witkoff has affirmed repeatedly Trump's commitment to reaching a ceasefire in Gaza. The proposal states that US, Egypt, and Qatar are listed as guarantors for maintaining the ceasefire over the 60-day period and any potential extension.
