Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world's largest aluminium smelter on one site, cemented its reputation as a leader in industrial safety by receiving the Royal Society for the Prevention Accidents (RoSPA)'s 'President's Award' for the third consecutive year.
This prestigious recognition follows Alba's 12th consecutive RoSPA Gold Award, highlighting the Company's outstanding and long-standing commitment to upholding the highest standards of occupational safety and health standards.
On this occasion, Alba's Chief Executive Officer, Ali Al Baqali, said: 'At Alba, Safety is not just a priority or a practice, it's the bedrock upon which all our operations and processes are built. Receiving this distinguished award for the third consecutive year proves that we are on the right track in our Safety journey and fuels our determination to advance with even greater dedication, ensuring the safety and well-being of our most valuable assets - our people, encompassing both our employees and contractors' workers.'
RoSPA Awards recognise organisations for promoting a safe and healthy work environment, as well as preventing injuries and accidents inside and outside the workplace, thus creating a safer society for everyone.

His progression through the ranks is a prime example of how Alba invests in its national talent, providing robust pathways for growth through continuous education and professional development From an entry-level position to his most recent role as Senior Head of Treasury, Ali played a crucial role in securing Alba's refinancing deals as well as expertly managing treasury operations. Commenting on his promotion, Alba's Chief Executive Officer Ali Al Baqali stated: 'Ali has consistently demonstrated the calibre of talent we cultivate here at Alba. His remarkable journey at Alba. With deep financial acumen honed over decades, Ali has played a key role in advancing the strategic growth of the accounting department.' Ali Al Hanan holds a bachelor's degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Bahrain and a Master of Business Administration from Arabian Gulf University.

Alba, NFPA ink deal to strengthen fire safety and occupational health measures

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world's largest aluminium smelter on one site, has entered into a strategic partnership with the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®), a global self-funded US-based non-profit organization, dedicated to advancing fire prevention and safety on a global scale for nearly 130 years. The signing ceremony took place between Alba's Chief Executive Officer Ali Al Baqali and NFPA MENA's Director of International Business Development Director Eng. Dana Kamal on 12 May 2025, marking the beginning of a three-year strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing knowledge-sharing and exchanging best practices in occupational health, safety, and fire prevention initiatives. Commenting on the partnership, Alba's CEO Ali Al Baqali stated: 'As the first aluminium smelter in the region and the first manufacturing company in Bahrain to embark on this journey, we are proud to lead the way, learning from the best while sharing our advancements to contribute to a safer and more sustainable industrial world starting from Bahrain.' Adding further, Dana Kamal, Director, International Business Development MENA at NFPA, said: 'By aligning with the NFPA Fire & Life Safety Ecosystem™, we aim to help Alba maintain high safety standards as it continues to grow its operational footprint.' Through this partnership, Alba and NFPA will jointly develop and implement an action plan that includes hosting awareness forums, training sessions, certification programmes, and conferences to promote best practices in fire safety.
