Online software streamlines Panama City development process
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Local developers got a look at the future Friday morning.
Panama City officials held a development services symposium to introduce them to Cloudpermit. The online software streamlines planning and zoning, building services, environmental, fire, code compliance, and contractor registration services.
Officials hope the platform speeds up the development process.
'We had made a lot of changes to some of our processes, like the development order process, so we wanted to be able to get out in front of everybody and show them what the processes are and what we're doing and have an opportunity for feedback,' Panama City Development Services Department Director Michael Fuller said.

Not everyone is satisfied with the move to computers, but officials say they're ready to assist with the adjustment.
'Transition and change are not easy. It never is. But I think once we get past that and we get to the other side of things, we'll understand the thought process and the fluidity that's going to be able to allow us to happen with that,' Panama City Building Services Chief Building Official Jake Schmidtke said.
The software is not exclusive to developers.
Residents can also create an account to file a code compliance complaint. It allows anyone to look up an address where construction is taking place to see what's being built.
'Whether it be a developer, whether it be just a homeowner looking to permit a shed in their backyard. We want to make it as easy as possible. So, if folks are having trouble navigating through the website, I encourage them to come down to City Hall, and we'll sit down and walk them through it,' Fuller said.
Cloudpermit will update applicants throughout the review process. To access the portal, .
