Argoe in Newlyn crowned one of the UK's best eateries

Argoe featured on the list from OpenTable, along with a few other Cornwall eateries.
The restaurant reservation site compiled a list of its top 100 spots around the country.
In a statement, they said: "If you're looking for the perfect place to dine outdoors this summer, this list has it all.
"Visit diner favourites in your area and enjoy a shared experience in the sun with friends, family, and even your dog!"
The full list of the UK's best outdoor dining spots for 2025 can be found on the OpenTable website here.
Why is Argoe among the UK's best restaurants for outdoor dining?
The list by OpenTable is generated from more than 800,000 reviews from verified OpenTable diners and dining metrics from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
Restaurants with a minimum threshold of diner reviews were considered and evaluated through various factors.
These included:
Diner ratings
Percentage of five-star reviews
Number of alerts set
Percentage of reservations made in advance
Percentage of capacity and direct searches
Metrics were weighted to comprise an overall score, with restaurants then filtered by having outdoor dining.
Argoe is said to be a "tribute" to Newlyn's fishing heritage as well as a "celebration of those that continue to fish here today".
According to its website, its purpose is to bring "some of the country's best produce from the sea to our tables".
Some dishes on their sample menu include hand-dived scallops, Piri Piri Monkfish, whole lobster and John Dory.
What do visitors think of Argoe?
Argoe has been well-received by visitors, earning a 4.5/5 score on Tripadvisor from 133 reviews.
One person wrote: "As everyone says, expect beautiful food, good wines and attentive service.
"Sharing platters for a whole fish works well with vegetables or salad, your choice. Deserts and cheese are also excellent."

The ‘secret' UK island surrounded by the country's deadliest footpath

FOULNESS Island is a mere six miles from Essex, but anyone wanting to walk over will have to take on one of the deadliest paths in Britain. The Broomway is so dangerous that it can only be walked with a guide during certain times of the day - before the tide comes in. 5 Foulness Island, which is separated from Essex by narrow creeks, is dangerous to get to if you travel on The Broomway because of rising tides. The path connects Foulness Island to the mainland and stretches along the sands for six miles. The Broomway is considered dangerous because of rapidly rising tides, soft mud and quicksand, and the unexploded ordnance. There is often poor visibility across the path, which makes it hard to navigate in bad weather and during winter months. Over centuries, the path is said to have killed more than 100 people and at some points in history it was even called 'The Doomway'. As a result, The Broomway has earned itself the title of 'deadliest footpath in the country' by the BBC. Don't let that put you off though as some hikers have said a guided walk along the path is very special. One wrote on Tripadvisor: "On the way back you pass an old shipwreck before heading back. The landscape across the estuary is amazing and will take your breath away." Another added: " A fascinating, eerie walk on firm sand with an inch or two of water swirling in the wind at our feet." Someone even said it's worth adding to the 'bucket list.' Exploring UK Islands: A Journey Through Beautiful Isles (1) 5 For anyone wanting to visit Foulness Island, you can also go by car with access by road via Landwick Security Gate. However, Foulness is a 'closed island', meaning you can't just turn up. In order to step foot on the island, visitors will need to complete a registration form on the Foulness Island Heritage Centre website in advance of a visit. Non-residents can visit the island from 12pm-4pm on the first Sunday of every month from April to October. Anyone who wants to visit the Heritage Centre must declare so at the police checkpoint. The Foulness Island Heritage Centre first opened in 2003 inside a former school, which closed to students in the late 1980s. Inside is lots of artefacts and pieces of memorabilia covering 2,000 years of the island's history. Visitors to the island aren't allowed to freely explore, but there are organised excursions, including a visit to the church. Most other places on the island have closed in recent years, like The George and Dragon pub - schools and most shops have also closed. There is a post office which is also a general shop, but this is in one of the restricted areas of the island. 5 Foulness Island is home to around 200 residents who live mostly in the two villages on the north side of Foulness called Churchend and Courtsend. The reason why Foulness is a 'closed island' is because it's owned by the Ministry of Defence. It's allegedly used to test munitions like missiles, torpedoes and ballistics - although the exact nature of this work is classified. Here's another tiny UK island with under 1,000 residents so rich it's known as 'Millionaire's Isle'. And here's a UK island 'feels like a sci-fi novel' with dolphins and 12m-long sharks.

Singapore is one of Asia's top travel destinations in 2025, according to TripAdvisor

Trawling through user reviews is one of the best ways to decide if a given place is worth your time, and each year, TripAdvisor receives hundreds and thousands of opinions on various tourist attractions, food establishments, and hotels all across the world. As part of this year's TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards, the Best of the Best have been selected – all based on a high volume of excellent user reviews over a one-year period – and we're stoked to announce that Singapore has made its way on the ranks of the 'Destinations' category. Singapore ranks eleventh place in TripAdvisor's list of best travel destinations in Asia for 2025 – a decent spot on the list of 25. The popular beach paradise of Bali takes the number one position, followed by Hanoi (#2), Bangkok (#3), Hoi An (#4) and Siem Riep (#5) rounding out the top five, showing that Southeast Asian cities dominate. Places like Nepal's Kathmandu (#7) and India's New Delhi (#8) also make an appearance in the top 10. Singapore falls just outside this range, but hey, there's always next year. TripAdvisor highlights city tours, shopping malls, night tours, and attractions like theme parks as some of the 'great things to do' in Singapore, with the Thian Hock Keng temple and beaches mentioned as some places to visit. But that's barely scratching the surface, as our list of 101 best things to do in Singapore will tell you. On top of those mainstays, there are always new attractions and pop-ups opening across the island every month – the ongoing Jurassic World exhibition, upcoming Singapore Oceanarium, and yearly i Light festival are just some of the many examples. And if you're hankering for a satisfying meal after all that fun? Check out compilation of the best hawker centres in Singapore, or our newly updated list of 50 best cafés in Singapore. Our ever-expanding collection of new restaurants in Singapore is a great resource for foodies too. While TripAdvisor lauds us for being 'one of the cleanest and safest cities of its size in the world' – clearly true as we recently scored second in a new list of the safest cities in Southeast Asia – it also amusingly warns visitors of the importance of following our local laws, which includes not being allowed to spit in public. Indeed, we're a fine city – find out more about the odd things that are illegal in Singapore so that you don't unwittingly get slapped with a penalty for the most unexpected offences. Getting back to the main point: If you're planning a holiday in Asia, Singapore is definitely worth a visit. Although it's small, you'll never be bored or hungry in this island city. After all, this user review-based ranking speaks for itself. 25 best travel destinations in Asia in 2025, according to TripAdvisor: Bali, Indonesia Hanoi, Vietnam Bangkok, Thailand Hoi An, Vietnam Siem Riep, Cambodia Phuket, Thailand Kathmandu, Nepal New Delhi, India Maldives Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Singapore Jaipur, India Chiang Mai, Thailand Kyoto, Japan Seoul, South Korea Agra, India Colombo, Sri Lanka Phnom Penh, Cambodia Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Hong Kong Jakarta, Indonesia Pokhara, Nepal Luzon, Philippines Flores, Indonesia Beijing, China READ MORE
