COCO GAUFF became the first American singles winner of the French Open since Serena Williams as she overpowered fuming Aryna Sabalenka in Paris.
For the first time in a decade, the Roland Garros women's crown will be in United States hands as Gauff came from a set behind on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Under an open roof, in a final that pitted the No1 versus the No2 seed, the 21-year-old won 6-7 6-2 6-4 after more than two-and-a-half hours, with Manchester United legend Eric Cantona watching from the front-row seats.
Gauff, who lost to Iga Swiatek in the 2022 final, fell to the floor when it was all over and started to cry, mouthing: "Oh my God, oh my God."
This is Gauff's second major championship win, the last one coming against the Belarusian at the 2023 US Open in New York, which also went to three sets.
It was tense and suspenseful but not the best quality final.
That will matter little for the Yanks as Gauff took possession of the trophy on the biggest clay-court arena in the world.
Tenacious Sabalenka, who has a tiger tattoo on her left forearm, managed to come from 4-1 down in the first-set tie break to move 1-0 up after 80 minutes of intense play.
It was the first time the opening set of the women's singles final in the French capital had been decided at the tie-break since 1998 when Arantxa Sanchez Vicario faced Monica Seles.
Yet world No2 Gauff won 12 of the next 18 games, banking the £2.1million top prize on her second match point in slightly bizarre fasion.
Her forehand looked for all the world to be heading long but bounced on the line as Sabalenka had to readjust to keep the rally going but on her next shot pushed a backhand wide of the tramline as Gauff collapsed on to the clay in delight.
The Florida-born star is the first American to win the Roland Garros singles title since Williams in 2015.

And she is also the youngest American conqueror since the retired 23-time Grand Slam champion was successful in 2002 aged 20.
World No1 Sabalenka, as she often does, cut a frustrated figure as things went against her, screaming out obscenities to her box, and failing to find any inspiration to stop the tie turning in her opponent's favour.

Just months since being granted permanent residency, Kasatkina's hopes of becoming the first Australian woman to reach the quarter-finals since Ash Barty's triumphant year of 2019 may have fallen short, but the 28-year-old, who enjoyed being the 'last Aussie standing', smiled: 'It's been a good start. 'First of all it's been a good result but also, I felt super good to step on the court as an Australian player,' said the 17th seed. 'To feel the support from the stands so many times. I don't know if everyone who was screaming, 'Aussie', were from Australia, but I felt this support. Also, on social media I'm getting a lot of support from the Australians that they are so happy to welcome me, and they're happy for me. Tottenham decide transfer stance after missing out on two targets
Tottenham are prioritising the appointment of their new head coach but there is recognition that they must now act quickly following a slow start to their summer transfer business Tottenham's hesitance over the future of Ange Postecoglou has already seen them miss out on two midfielders and now they want to get a deal for the Aussie's successor in place to avoid missing out on further targets. Daniel Levy had spent the past two weeks deliberating whether to stick or twist in the aftermath of Spurs' Europa League triumph in Bilbao before finally pulling the trigger on Postecoglou on Friday. Thomas Frank is considered the clear frontrunner to replace the 59-year-old and while Brentford are yet to receive a formal approach for the Dane, positive talks have already taken place with Frank. Fulham's Marco Silva remains another name of interest but barring a significant U-turn, it looks as though Spurs will push ahead with a swoop for Frank, whose Brentford contract contains a significant buy-out clause. The Bees head coach is thought to have a good relationship with Spurs technical director and compatriot Johan Lange, who is expected to remain at the club and he'll also be tasked with overseeing transfer business alongside the likely returning Fabio Paratici. Spurs have already lost key ground in the market, England international Angel Gomes, a player Tottenham had been pursuing, has opted to join Marseille on a free transfer after also snubbing West Ham. Gomes' contract with Lille is set to expire at the end of the month but he now looks poised to remain in France after warming to the idea of working with Roberto De Zerbi. Coco Gauff has hit back at Aryna Sabalenka 's contention that Iga Swiatek would have beaten her in the French Open final. The 21-year-old American sensation conquered Roland-Garros for the very first time after coming from behind to defeat the top-ranked Sabalenka 6-7, 6-2, 6-4. This marked the second Grand Slam of Gauff's career, having also claimed the 2023 US Open title. The world No 2 became the first American to win the French Open since Serena Williams in 2015. To tee up Saturday's showdown, Gauff beat Lois Boisson in the semi-final, while Sabalenka edged past world No 5 Swiatek. And in an ungracious press-conference after the final, Sabalenka argued that Swiatek would have beaten Gauff had she progressed past the semi-final. Sabalenka said: 'That hurts. Especially when I've been playing really great tennis during the whole week. A lot of tough opponents, Iga. 'I think if Iga would have beaten me, she would go out today and she would get the win.' Gauff parried the distasteful claim away and cited her victory in straight sets against Swiatek at the Madrid Open earlier this year, which was also on clay. Gauff rebutted: 'I mean, I don't agree with that. I'm here sitting here (with the trophy). Last time I played - no shade to Iga or anything, but I played her and I won in straight sets (in Madrid). 'I don't think that's a fair thing to say, because anything can happen. The way Aryna was playing the last few weeks, she was the favourite to win the title. If you asked me, honestly, who I wanted to play, it was Iga just because I felt Aryna was playing so good, and she was. 'But regardless of who I played, I think I had a good shot to win. I definitely had that belief.' Sabalenka made 70 unforced errors in blustery conditions, and said: 'It felt like a joke. Like somebody from above was laughing: let's see if you can handle this 'After two weeks of incredible tennis, in the final in terrible conditions to play such terrible tennis really hurts. 'It felt like she (Gauff) was hitting the ball off the frame and somehow magically it lands in the court. I don't think she won the match because she played incredible, just because I made all those mistakes.' The world No 1 went on to blame the conditions, namely the wind, and admitted her emotions got the better of her. 'They were terrible. The wind was terrible. Coco simply handled it better,' Sabalenka added. 'Also, I was overemotional. I think I didn't have a good mental grip on myself today. That was basically it,' said the world number 1. In detail: 'Whenever she hit the ball, the wind would eventually make it fly like crazy, and I was always too late. It just felt like a joke, like someone from above was just laughing and saying, 'Let's see if you can do this.' And today I couldn't.'
