UK pressed to explain links between Polisario and Iran
British Conservative Party MP Charlie Dewhirst has challenged the Labour government of Prime Minister Keir Starmer with two written questions, seeking clarification on potential links between the Polisario Front and Iran.
Dewhirst asked the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Hamish Falconer, whether he had any information regarding the provision of military training and drone technology to the Polisario Front by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Hezbollah. He also inquired about the potential impact of such alleged collaboration on British interests in North and West Africa.
In its written response, the government stated that it «does not have information to confirm the allegation of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or Hezbollah provision of military training and drone technology to the Polisario Front».
UK Government: No Confirmed Evidence
«We continue to support UN-led efforts to reach a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable political solution, based on compromise, which will provide for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara», the government added.
MP Dewhirst also asked whether the government had recently discussed with regional allies Iran's alleged involvement in training Polisario militias and its broader strategy to destabilize the region.
In response, the government said: «The UK has not seen requisite evidence to raise concerns with allies regarding the allegation of Iranian involvement in training of Polisario Front. However, we continue to monitor Iranian activity in the region».
Hamish Falconer reiterated the UK's position, stating that the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office considers the Polisario Front an independence movement and a party to a conflict under UN review.
These questions follow recent calls by former British MP Liam Fox, a member of the Conservative Party, and Irish Senator Gerard Craughwell, an independent, to designate the Polisario Front as a terrorist organization under UK law.
In the United States, Republican Congressman Joe Wilson is leading a similar initiative. Both Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Lebanon's Hezbollah, which serve the interests of the Iranian regime, are already designated as terrorist organizations by the U.S. government.

Iran Attacks: King Mohammed VI Reiterates Morocco's Support for Qatar on Call with Emir Sheikh Tamim
Rabat – Qatar's leader, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, received a phone call on Monday from King Mohammed VI, who renewed Morocco's full solidarity with Qatar and strongly condemned the Iranian missile strike on the US Al-Udeid Air Base. According to the Qatari news agency QNA, the monarch described the Iranian attack as a blatant violation of the sovereignty of Qatar and its airspace. The attack is also against international law and the United Nations Charter. The statement added that the Moroccan King also stressed his firm rejection of any aggression that 'threatens the security and safety of Qatar and undermines the security and stability of the region.' He also called on the Qatari emir to exercise restraint and resort to diplomatic solutions. For his part, the Qatari Emir expressed his gratitude to the Moroccan monarch 'for his sincere fraternal sentiments and his valued solidarity with the State of Qatar and its people,' the statement concluded. Morocco conveyed its position against Iran's missiles on a US military base in Qatar, condemning it as a violation of Qatari sovereignty and airspace. Earlier today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also pledged support and said that it backs the Gulf country in the face of 'anything that may affect its security and the safety of its citizens.' Many countries have joined the growing support for Qatar, pledging full support for Doha amid the Iranian attack. Saudi Arabia also condemned the aggression, noting that it views the attack as a flagrant violation of international law and the principles of good neighborliness. Riyadh also said that it's ready to deploy all its capabilities to support Qatar in all measures it deems necessary. Converging reports said Iran contacted the US before the missiles. The US confirmed that no casualties were reported following the attack. Alongside Qatar, Iranian missiles also struck a US base in Iraq. Algeria State Media Brands US ‘Terrorist' While Militaries Cooperate Closely
Algeria's El Chourouk newspaper has launched a blistering attack on the US, labeling America as a 'terrorist entity.' This incendiary rhetoric comes despite Algiers' deepening military cooperation with Washington. The lengthy editorial, published following recent US airstrikes on Iran, accuses Washington of serial violations of international law. It condemns America's 'imperialist arrogance' concerning Iraq and Iran while attacking the UN Security Council as a tool of Western powers. This narrative, unfolding within the opaque and highly politicized security apparatus of the Islamic Republic, shows Algeria's deepening alignment with Tehran's regional axis, a reality it seeks to obscure through diversionary attacks on the US. The piece particularly spoke about US support for Israel, framing it as evidence of America's 'Zionist-terrorist' alliance. Yet, this vitriolic condemnation stands in stark contrast to recent actions by Algeria's own government. Just months before the article's publication, Algerian Ambassador to Washington Sabri Boukadoum told US media that security cooperation between the two countries had 'no limits,' enthusiastically stating: 'The sky is the limit for our partnership.' Algerian political analyst Oualid Kebir has sharply criticized this flagrant contradiction, calling Algeria 'the largest rogue state in contemporary history,' in a post on X. 'This is textbook hypocrisy,' Kebir added. 'When you call your military partner a 'terrorist entity' while conducting joint exercises and sharing intelligence, you completely undermine your credibility on the international stage.' While Algeria's state media hysterically denounces the US as a 'terrorist state,' its regime shamelessly bankrolls and arms the Polisario Front, the separatist group in Western Sahara that has been repeatedly drawn alarm on the international stage for its acts of terrorism. This glaring hypocrisy shows Algiers' true agenda which is to destabilize North Africa through proxy militias while posing as an anti-imperialist champion. Even as Algeria lectures about 'international law,' it violates every principle by sheltering the Polisario, which embezzles vital humanitarian aid to the Tindouf camp refugees to maintain its anti-Morocco agenda. Royal Air Maroc Flight Rerouted as Qatar Closes Airspace
Gummersbach – Several airlines have suspended or altered flights across the Middle East after Iran threatened to retaliate the US air missile attack on the Gulf country's nuclear bases last night. The escalating tensions sparked airspace closures and security concerns. Major carriers, including Emirates, Lufthansa, and Qatar Airways, have canceled services to Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and Israel, with some suspensions extending through summer. A Royal Air Maroc (RAM) flight was compelled to return to Morocco on Monday evening following Qatar's sudden closure of its airspace, prompted by ongoing escalating tensions. The aircraft, registered as CN-RGX, was operating a scheduled service from Casablanca to Doha when it was rerouted mid-flight due to the regional security alert. The diversion occurred as Qatar faced Iranian missile strikes targeting the Al Udeid Air Base US military base, an action that violated Qatari sovereignty and led to the immediate shutdown of its airspace. Morocco has expressed full solidarity with Qatar after the strike. In the same wave of retaliation, Iran also launched strikes on the Ain Al Asad Air base in Iraq. A statement from Morocco's Foreign Affairs Ministry issued tonight said that the attack targeted the sovereignty and airspace of the sister State of Qatar. The ministry firmly asserted that Morocco backs Qatar in the face of 'anything that may affect its security and the safety of its citizens.' Saudi Arabia also joined a growing list of countries that have reacted in support of Qatar since Iran launched a missile attack on US military bases in the Gulf country, detailing that is 'strongly condemns' the Iranian aggression. US and European airlines, such as Delta and Air France, have also halted Tel Aviv flights, while others rerouted through alternative corridors. With no immediate resolution in sight, further disruptions are expected in the coming days. Tags: Iran strikesQatar airspaceRAMRoyal Air Maroc
