Trump announces Israel-Iran ceasefire
WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that a 'complete and total' ceasefire between Israel and Iran will go into force with a view to ending the conflict between the two nations.
Trump appeared to suggest that Israel and Iran would have some time to complete any missions that are underway, at which point the ceasefire would begin in a staged process.
'On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, 'THE 12 DAY WAR',' he wrote on his Truth Social site.
Trump says Iran gave US notice before attack on Qatar military base
Trump declared a ceasefire minutes after each side threatened new attacks.
CNN reported shortly before Trump's post that Iran had not received any ceasefire proposal and saw no reason for one, citing a senior Iranian official.
Earlier on Monday, Trump said he would encourage Israel to proceed towards peace after dismissing Iran's attack on an American air base that caused no injuries and thanking Tehran for the early notice of the strikes.
There was no immediate comment from Israel on Trump's statement.
Hours earlier, three Israeli officials had signaled Israel was looking to wrap up its campaign in Iran soon and had passed the message on to the United States.
S&P 500 futures rose 0.4% late on Monday, suggesting traders expect the U.S. stock market to open with gains on Tuesday.

Lawyers to observe strike today: IBA condemns US attacks on Iran's nuclear sites
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) on Monday, strongly condemned the US-led attack on Iran's nuclear sites. In this regard, the legal community announced to observe a strike on Tuesday (today). Condemning the attacks on the nuclear facilities, the Islamabad legal fraternity said that the attacks were orchestrated at the behest of the illegitimate Israeli state. In a statement issued by the IBA, Chauhary Naeem Gujjar Advocate, President of the association said that this egregious act constitutes a blatant violation of Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and Iran reserves the right to respond accordingly. He stated that the IBA firmly believed that such aggression directly contravened the principles of the UN Charter. He added that it also highlighted that Israel's presence constituted a grave menace to international peace and stability. Gujjar maintained that the IBA urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to intervene and facilitate a peaceful resolution to this escalating conflict. He continued that the IBA stands in solidarity with the Iranian government and people during this trying time. Attacks on Iran: If we don't speak they will come to us: Bilawal
ISLAMABAD: Regarding the military attacks of Israel and America on Iran, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that first they came to Lebanon, then to Yemen, and now to Iran, if we don't speak up, they will come to us, and there will be no one to speak up. Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly on Monday, he said that that we strongly condemn the attacks on Iran's nuclear sites. 'Israel attacked Iran based on lies. We condemn it. Iran's sovereignty was violated. Iran's military leadership was targeted not on the battlefield but in their homes. Iranian scientists were targeted. The biggest violation is the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.' He said that the United States (US) attacked Iran's nuclear sites. US carried out strikes at Iranian nuclear sites. Had there been a spread of radiations due to the attack, it would have impacted the entire region, especially Pakistan. The people of America do not support this war. The PPP chairman said that earlier this was said about Iraq and now it has been said about Iran that they have weapons of mass destruction. 'First, they came to Lebanon, then to Yemen and now to Iran. If we do not speak up now, then when they come to us, there will be no one to speak up. The Israeli regime must be stopped,' he said. CFM-OIC for strict adherence to agreements, including IWT
ISLAMABAD: The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (CFM-OIC) meeting has called for strict adherence to bilateral agreements, including Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) and stressed the importance of a broad-based dialogue for peaceful settlement of all outstanding disputes between Pakistan and India. The CFM-OIC also expressed solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan, over the recent military escalation in the South Asia region, including the unjustified strikes carried out on multiple locations in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and stressed the need to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that would destabilise the region. The OIC Foreign Ministers emphasised that the ceasefire, announced on 10 May 2025, must be faithfully adhered to, in the interest of regional peace and stability. This was stated in a joint declaration adopted by the 51st Session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (Under the Theme: the OIC in a Transforming World) issued here by the Foreign Office of Pakistan on Monday. The two-day regular 51st session was convened at Istanbul on 21-22 June 2025. The session renewed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and expressed full support for their inalienable right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council and OIC resolutions. The Joint Communiqué reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause for the OIC, firm support for the establishment of a sovereign, independent, contiguous Palestinian state on the 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital and that two-State solution is the only viable solution to reach peace and stability in the region for all. The OIC reiterated the importance of convening the United Nations High-Level Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution and relevant United Nations resolutions, under the co-chairmanship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic. The declaration called upon all UN Member States to participate actively in the conference once its new date is announced. Condemning the continued Israeli aggression against Gazans, the CFM-OIC supported the intensive diplomatic efforts of the Ministerial Committee established by the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on Gaza to press for an immediate ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip, and the initiation of practical steps toward the implementation of the two-State solution. In addition, they also expressed support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency in the Near East for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) which plays an irreplaceable role in providing services to Palestine refugees and call on the international community to continue their support to UNRWA both politically and financially. The OIC unequivocally rejected any schemes aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians from their land. The CFM-OIC condemned destabilisation policies of Israel in the region and its recent attacks on Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, constituting flagrant violation of sovereignty and security of these countries and international law, call on the international community to take deterrent measures to stop this aggression and make Israel accountable for crimes committed; decides to establish an open ended Ministerial Contact group, which will be tasked with establishing regular contacts with the relevant regional and international parties, in order to support De-escalation efforts, stop the aggression against Iran and to achieve a peaceful settlement.
