Leesa
Leesa's ultra comfortable mattresses are some of my favorites. The Leesa Sapira Chill, our pick for the best luxury mattress, is on sale for $1,584. That's more than $679 in savings. It's still expensive but this is a good deal for the quality, especially because Leesa is adding a free sleep bundle that includes two pillows and a microfiber sheet set.

Nectar
Hands down, Nectar does some of the most generous sales of all the mattress brands, which is good because some of the newest Nectar beds can be pricey. For Memorial Day, Nectar beds are up to 50% off, and bundles are 66% off.
That means you can get the Nectar Classic Hybrid for $799 instead of $1,531. If you want to update your whole bedding setup, add the optional bundle for only $179. It includes a sheet set, two cooling pillows and a mattress protector. The all-foam model of this bed is only $649. Finding quality queen mattresses for less than $1,000 can be difficult, so this sale is big if you're a fan of dense memory foam.

Helix
Helix's early access Memorial Day sale is 25% sitewide with a free bedding bundle if you buy a Luxe or Elite mattress. Here at CNET, we're big fans of Helix mattresses, especially the comfy pillowtops on the Luxe models. The Helix Midnight Luxe, which I recommend to just about anyone who wants a medium mattress, is down to $1,780 with this sale. Admittedly, the Luxe beds are on the more expensive side. You can drop a tier to the core collection for more affordable beds. The Helix Midnight is $999 right now. If you choose from the core collection, you'll miss out on the free bedding bundle that includes a sheet set and mattress protector. The bedding bundle's value isn't more than the difference between the two prices so I don't think the free offerings are enough to move the needle for you.
I'm currently testing the Helix Frame, which is on sale for $187. I highly recommend it for people who want a no-fuss bed frame that is easy to assemble. Seriously, it took me less than 5 minutes to put it together.

Saatva
For Memorial Day, Saatva is running deals where you can save up to $600 off a mattress. The amount off will depend on the total of your purchase. A $950 to $1,999 purchase will save you $200, plus an extra $100 off if you get an adjustable base or upholstered bed frame with the mattress. You won't get that $600 off unless you spend more than $4,500. It's not the most generous sale we've seen from Saatva, but it's still a nice chunk of change off the price of a luxury bed. The Saatva Classic, our favorite firm bed, is only $1,799, $300 off of the usual price. If you're looking for a bed specifically for back pain, the Saata Rx is reduced to $3,049 for a queen.

Is Memorial Day a good time to buy a mattress?
Memorial Day is a good time to buy a mattress if you're in the market for one. Some of the sales are generous, especially the ones that throw in extra pillows and bedding.
I've been doing this long enough to notice sales trends across brands. For instance, Saatva usually peaks around $600 off mattresses, while Nectar has been known to mark 50% off. Most big names offer sales within a specific range, so if you can't afford a mattress right now, don't sweat it. There's always another holiday coming.
Should you wait until Prime Day to buy a mattress?
No, it's not necessarily better to wait until Amazon Prime Day in July to buy a new mattress. While some brands will offer deals around that time, nearly all mattress companies offer discounts around Memorial Day. Additionally, upcoming tariffs may increase the prices of mattresses across the board, so if you want to snag a new bed for a lower price, significant sales are happening now.

Knock Knock: Buy a Ring Doorbell and Get Another for Just $10 at Amazon
When you think about the humble video doorbell, Ring is probably the first name that springs to mind. It's the company that started it all off, and it now offers some of the most popular models on the market. They have all the features we've come to expect and often at a price that people can afford. But what if you want to keep tabs on more than one door? Now you can, with Amazon selling a pair of Ring Battery Doorbells for just $110. Buying a single one of these doorbells normally costs $100, so you're effectively getting the second one for just $10 here, a savings of $90 off what you'd pay elsewhere. We can't vouch for how long this deal will last, though, and the limited-time label does worry us. If you want to snag this bargain, do it soon to avoid missing out. The Ring Battery doorbell comes in both bronze and silver finishes, although you have to get both of your doorbells in the same finish, unfortunately. Make sure to pick your favorite one before adding anything to your cart. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. In terms of features, these doorbells offer head-to-toe coverage so you can see more of who is at your door. They also offer support for live video streaming, while the two-way talk feature means that you can converse with the person at your door -- perfect for getting deliveries when you aren't at home. Other features include the battery-powered nature of these doorbells, removing the need to run cables anywhere. All you have to do is connect the doorbell to your Wi-Fi, charge the battery, and you're off to the races. Why this deal matters Keeping an eye on your home is always important. But if you live alone, knowing who is at your door can be vital. Even just telling a delivery driver where to leave a parcel can come in handy, and doorbells like the Ring Battery Doorbell make that possible. This is your chance to pick up not one, but two of them, at a bargain price.

This Is How Long Eggs Last in the Fridge
Although eggs have been a common kitchen staple since the dawn of time, you may not know everything about this protein-packed ingredient, including how long they last in the fridge. According to a CNET survey, 93% of Americans are concerned about inflation, and 77% are experiencing "sticker shock" when shopping for groceries. If you're considering buying eggs in bulk to save money or simply want to stretch that carton in your fridge for as long as possible, we have you covered. We spoke to a food safety expert to explain the best way to store eggs so that you can enjoy them at their best, no matter when you decide to use them. How long do eggs last in the fridge? According to the US Department of Agriculture, eggs typically stay good for three to five weeks in the fridge. They "often remain safe to eat for a week or two beyond that date, as long as they've been kept refrigerated," said Zachary Cartwright, a member of the Food Safety and Quality Management Division at the Institute of Food Technologists and lead food scientist at Aqualab by Addium. There are ways to maximize an egg's freshness. Cartwright says you should keep your eggs in their original carton and "with the pointed end down to help maintain their freshness by keeping the air cell at the top. This slows moisture loss and keeps the yolk centered." It's also important to store eggs in the coldest part of your fridge rather than the door since the temperature fluctuates in that area, he says. Hard-boiled eggs that are still in their shell stay good for about a week in the fridge, according to the USDA. Why do we refrigerate eggs? The USDA recommends that eggs from a hen be stored in the fridge as soon as possible."In the U.S., eggs must be refrigerated due to the washing process that removes the natural protective coating on the shell, making them more susceptible to bacteria," Cartwright says. "In some other countries, eggs are not refrigerated because they retain their protective coating. However, once eggs are refrigerated, they should remain so to prevent condensation, which can promote bacterial growth." According to State Food Safety, the U.S. washes its eggs to prevent the spread of salmonella. The USDA also recommends that eggs from a hen be stored in the fridge as soon as possible after they are gathered. Can I freeze eggs? Cooked eggs freeze extremely well. David Watsky/CNET Yes, but not in their shells. One option for freezing eggs is to crack them and then beat them together before storing them. Or you can freeze the egg yolks and whites separately. According to the USDA, the whites are more optimal for freezing because the texture stays the same, but if you want to freeze the yolks, you'll need to add salt and corn syrup or sugar to help with the consistency. Individual eggs can be frozen separately in ice cube trays and muffin pans, and they can stay frozen for up to one year. You can also cook scrambled eggs or egg bites and store them in the freezer for two to three months. Although eggs can spoil, they often stay fresh much longer than you'd think. How to test egg freshness If you want to check if your eggs are still good before you crack them, you can perform a simple float test with your egg and a glass of cold water. First, fill a large glass with cold water, then gently drop the egg inside. If the egg sinks and turns to its side, it's still perfectly good to eat. If the egg sinks, but stays upright, it's also still OK to eat, but it is an older egg and should be used soon. If the egg floats straight to the top of the water, that's your sign that it has gone bad and should be thrown away. The egg float test: The egg on the right has spoiled, according to experts."This test works because air builds up inside the egg as it ages, making it more buoyant," Cartwright says. One important thing to remember about the egg test is that if one of the eggs in the carton passes the test, that doesn't mean all of them will. Individually test each one before cooking it and pay attention to the smell after you crack the egg open. "A strong, sulfur-like odor is a clear sign the egg has gone bad," Cartwright says. Something else to look out for is "unusual coloring, such as a pink, green or iridescent hue in the egg white or yolk, which can indicate bacterial contamination," Cartwright adds. Is the best by date on eggs accurate? It's best to keep your eggs stored in their original says that the best by date on eggs is "a guideline, not a strict rule," adding that eggs are often good for one to two weeks after the date printed on the carton, as long as they've been refrigerated. "As eggs age, their quality diminishes -- they may lose some firmness, and the whites might become thinner -- but they can still be safe to eat," he says.
