Legendary horror and sci-fi director John Carpenter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 3, 2025 — and the ceremony turned into a nostalgic reunion.
Appearing in public together for the first time in 40 years, Kurt Russell and Keith David, stars of Carpenter's iconic 1982 horror film The Thing, joined the celebration alongside special effects master Greg Nicotero.
Nicotero praised Carpenter as a trailblazer who 'altered the way we watch movies.' He joked, 'Maybe now we'll finally find out if Kurt or Keith was The Thing.' David replied with a laugh, 'It wasn't me,' before honoring Carpenter for giving him his first film role and calling the experience 'beautiful.'
Russell shared a behind-the-scenes story about the oversized sombrero he wore as R.J. MacReady in The Thing, recalling Carpenter's trademark confidence in the choice. 'He said, 'It's gonna be great, man.' And he was right.'
Other attendees included PJ Soles, who posted photos with Nick Castle (Michael Myers in Halloween), and Carpenter's ex-wife Adrienne Barbeau, who shared a joyful moment with Slash of Guns N' Roses.
Carpenter closed the event with his signature dry humor, saying, 'Thank you for this place on this sacred boulevard where people and dogs can pee on me at any time.'
John Carpenter's star is now located at 7000 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

'this one's about you!!' – sabrina carpenter announces new single 'Manchild' after viral teaser buzz

Sabrina Carpenter has sparked excitement among fans with a new Instagram post teasing her upcoming release, 'Manchild.' The pop singer shared a striking photo of herself hitchhiking, accompanied by the caption, 'this ones about you!! 'Manchild' is out this Thursday 6/5 8pm EST ❤️ special 7" vinyl available now.' This confirms that Carpenter's new music will be released on June 5, marking the latest chapter in her evolving discography. This post follows a viral video Carpenter shared yesterday, featuring her hitchhiking in micro denim shorts and heels. The 16-second clip, captioned 'we're READY,' quickly gained traction online, fueling fan speculation about the nature of her upcoming project. The video's casual tone and visual style led many to make a possible connection to 'Manchild,' particularly after promotional billboards appeared across Texas. These billboards, credited to SC Entertainment, prominently featured the word 'Manchild' along with cryptic phrases such as 'HEY MEN,' 'AMEN,' and 'I SWEAR THEY CHOOSE ME I'M NOT CHOOSING THEM.' The billboards also included a 2025 copyright, further indicating a new release was imminent. Though Carpenter has not clarified whether 'Manchild' will be a single, music video, or part of a larger project, industry observers note the timing is strategic. Carpenter's North American Short n' Sweet Tour resumes in July, suggesting 'Manchild' could become a summer anthem. Moreover, Carpenter is set to headline Primavera Sound Barcelona this weekend alongside Charli XCX and Chappell Roan, providing an ideal platform for promoting new material. The caption to the post, 'this ones about you!!', still remains in question, as to whom this is directed. Is this single also going to be a subtle or a much more direct dig towards ex-boyfriend Barry Keoghan, as it was seen in 'Please Please Please' remasterd/remix video.

Sabrina Carpenter eyed for Mamma Mia 3 role as franchise plans film, Broadway return & potential TV series

Pop sensation and actress Sabrina Carpenter is being considered for a role in the upcoming third installment of the Mamma Mia! film franchise, according to producer Judy Craymer in an exclusive interview with Deadline's Baz Bamigboye. While Craymer declined to confirm specific casting, she hinted Carpenter could portray a 'goddess or some relation who would look very much like Meryl Streep.' The singer—who has publicly expressed her love for ABBA and has close ties with franchise star Amanda Seyfried—has frequently performed ABBA hits in concert, making her a natural fit for the beloved musical series. Craymer confirmed that the third film remains in active development, though casting is not yet finalized. 'It'll happen when it happens,' she stated, emphasizing that the new story will focus on character-driven engagement rather than rehashing past material. The Mamma Mia! universe is expanding beyond the silver screen. In addition to the film, Craymer hinted at broader plans for the franchise, including a potential television adaptation described as a 'comedy-drama made for TV.' Though still in the early concept stage, the idea underscores the enduring popularity and flexibility of the brand. Meanwhile, the original stage musical is set to return to Broadway this summer for a six-month engagement at the Winter Garden Theatre, beginning August 2, with an official opening night on August 14. The production, which originally opened in New York in 2001 and closed in 2015, has long been celebrated as a 'comfort blanket' during uncertain times. Carpenter's rising popularity among Gen Z audiences and the show's continued relevance position Mamma Mia! as a multigenerational phenomenon—now poised for a new chapter across film, stage, and possibly television.

Axl Rose's Stage Wipeouts Featured in Guns N' Roses' Humorous Instagram Compilation

Guns N' Roses are embracing frontman Axl Rose's history of onstage missteps with humor, sharing a lighthearted compilation of his most memorable falls. Posted on the band's official Instagram account, the video montage showcases Rose's many tumbles throughout his decades-long career — all set to the backdrop of their iconic track, 'Welcome to the Jungle.' Titled 'Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits,' the one-minute video features clips dating back to the 1980s and highlights a series of onstage wipeouts. The footage shows Rose falling backward, face-first, and even walking straight off the stage. One of the more recent mishaps occurred during their concert in Mumbai over the weekend, when the 63-year-old singer tripped while sprinting up a staircase mid-performance of 'Sweet Child O' Mine.' That incident appears as the second clip in the reel. Fans and followers responded positively to the self-deprecating post, applauding the band's willingness to laugh at themselves — particularly Rose, who has remained at the helm of the group through countless tours and performances. The compilation coincides with the launch of Guns N' Roses' 'Because What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things' World Tour. The band is set to perform across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East through the end of July. Select shows will feature special guests including Public Enemy, Rival Sons, and Sex Pistols. This tour also introduces drummer Isaac Carpenter, who joined the lineup earlier this year after replacing longtime member Frank Ferrer. 'Carpenter has made a name for himself by uniquely blending versatility and groove with crushing force and technical skill,' the band said in a statement, adding that being behind the drum kit may be the safest place when it comes to avoiding Rose-style stumbles.
