Wrexham AFC tour Australia and New Zealand for pre-season
Phil Parkinson's men finished runners-up in League One to secure an historic third successive promotion and place in the second tier next term.
The club has announced that this year's pre-season tour will take the Reds to Australia and New Zealand in July, with matches confirmed in Australia versus Melbourne Victory on July 11 (Marvel Stadium), Sydney FC on July 15 (Allianz Stadium), and Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand on July 19 (Sky Stadium).
Promoted by TEG Sport, the Wrexham Down Under Tour follows on from two highly successful pre-season tours to the USA, the first in 2023 which included a clash against Manchester United followed by the Wrex Coast Tour in 2024 with the headline fixture against another Premier League side in Chelsea.
Wrexham's tour of Australia and New Zealand will see the club take on a high calibre of competition from the A-League, offering a true test against some of the region's most accomplished sides.
With the A-League continuing to grow in stature and talent, these matches promise to deliver a compelling showcase of football, blending Wrexham's global story with the skill and intensity of the elite clubs.
Wrexham AFC co-chairmen, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, commented: 'From the very beginning, we wanted to help make Wrexham a globally recognised team, town and brand.

Wellington Phoenix General Manager David Dome said: 'We're delighted to be welcoming Wrexham to Wellington. The capital has a proud history of hosting New Zealand's biggest football events, and this promises to be another unmissable match at Sky Stadium.
"Wrexham have had an incredible rise to the Championship and I know our players can't wait to test themselves against the Red Dragons.
'I also look forward to catching up with Rob and Ryan over a pint of Wrexham lager at The Welsh Dragon, the only Welsh bar in the southern hemisphere!'

Tickets go on general sale via Ticketek in Australia and New Zealand on Friday May 16 at 9:00AM AEST and 11AM NZST. Tickets start at $39 for children and $59 for adults.

No excuses from Graffard after Calandagan misses out again
A brilliant winner of the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot last summer, the four-year-old went on to give Derby and Eclipse hero City Of Troy a run for his money in the Juddmonte International at York before suffering a narrow defeat behind Anmaat in Ascot's Champion Stakes. Having picked up the silver medal for the third time in succession on his return to action in the Dubai Sheema Classic in late March, Calandagan was an 8-13 favourite to break his top-level duck on the Surrey Downs but again came off second-best, with Aidan O'Brien's Jan Brueghel keeping him at bay by half a length. 'I don't have any excuses. The horse had the perfect run; Mickael (Barzalona) gave him a ride with plenty of thought. Going down the hill he found himself behind Ryan (Moore, riding Jan Brueghel) and gave the horse plenty of time to balance himself,' said Graffard. 'He challenged him, probably took the lead for a moment and then just as they started to climb again, you could see that Ryan was finding more. 'He's a very talented horse who needs to win a Group One, but I'm sure he will. He always gives his best. I don't have any excuses. It was a good performance from him.' Considering future plans, the French trainer added: 'He's in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, don't forget he ran in Dubai so hasn't run in France this year. 'Did I do enough at home? I think he was ready, but a tough O'Brien horse beat me, a horse who will keep finding more.' Barzalona felt Calandagan did not help his cause at the start. He said: 'He's always slowly away, we cannot manage differently with him at the start, but once he found his rhythm I was behind Ryan at Tattenham Corner and I was pretty happy to be there. 'I think I hit the front 100 yards before the line and he kind of just stayed on and got a bit tired going uphill. The O'Brien horse was just a little bit stronger today. 'I hope one day we will be able to break a little bit faster and be able to get a better position earlier, but he has his own rhythm and we'll have to deal with that for the moment. 'He's getting more mature and it's the first time he's run over this kind of different track, so he ran well.' Seven lengths further behind in third was Marco Botti's Hong Kong Vase hero Giavellotto. 'It was a good run, but they were a couple of proper horses in front of us,' said the Newmarket handler. 'My horse has run with credit, but Aidan said they would go hard and that's the way it turned out.'

Jan Brueghel holds off Calandagan in Coronation Cup thriller
Unbeaten when winning the world's oldest Classic at Doncaster, he had been aimed at the Melbourne Cup later that year but was ruled out by the local vets and was then beaten on his return to action this spring in a Group Three. Like so many O'Brien horses he improved enormously from his first run to his second and while the patiently-ridden Calandagan looked like gaining the upper hand more than once, the 8-13 favourite could never get in front and went down by half a length. O'Brien said of the 100-30 winner: 'He's a very tough horse and Ryan (Moore) gave him a class ride. He doesn't surrender. 'He improved a lot from the last day and he was still pricking his ears.' 'Ryan has given him an incredible ride and got him balanced and into a lovely rhythm. They started to race from a long way out, but it was incredible in the straight how he carried on. 'Everyone knew it was going to be a good gallop and Wayne Lordan (on Continuous) was there to ensure it was a good gallop, all everyone wanted was a solidly-run race and Ryan felt they were going fast enough for him. 'I thought Wayne was excellent at setting the pace and everyone was happy to get a lead off Wayne and when you get a race run at a suitable pace you know what distance you can go next or what not to. This way everyone learns. 'At Group One level he is a mile-and-a-half-plus horse and he's a very tough horse who would still be unbeaten if I hadn't run him at the Curragh. 'It's was a lovely run first time back and it was only over a mile and a quarter and he was beaten by a good horse of Joseph's (O'Brien, Galen). It was a bit unfair what I did pitching him in over that trip, but I needed to get him out early. 'He's a very brave horse and if you pass him slowly you're in trouble.' This race was originally slated for Illinois prior to the shuffling of the Ballydoyle pack following Kyprios' retirement and O'Brien added: 'Everyone was standing in line behind Kyprios and he was always going to get first preference and there would be no move made on anything if he was going to Gold Cup. 'When he was retired Illinois was put in there and this fella came into Illinois' position. He was going to go for a Group One in Longchamp but then slotted in here.' Moore said: 'He's only been beaten once and he's a very good horse. He's a Classic winner and still improving and we're still learning. Hopefully we'll keep learning about him. 'He was headed there and battled back, but he's a tough horse.'
