India has $45 billion opportunity in mining-construction equipment sector by 2030: CII-Kearney report
New Delhi [India], May 26 (ANI): India is poised to unlock a USD 45 billion opportunity in mining and construction equipment sector by 2030, according to a joint report by CII-Kearney.
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in collaboration with Kearney, a global management consulting firm, has come out with a 'Vision Report' for making India a global manufacturing hub in the mining and construction equipment sector.
The report presents a bold Vision 2030 to position India as a global leader in India's mining and construction equipment (MCE) sector and outlines an action plan.
Currently valued at USD 16 billion, the sector is projected to grow at a 19 per cent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), unlocking a USD 45 billion opportunity by 2030, the joint report asserted.
India is now the fastest-growing MCE market among the top six global economies, surpassing even the US, Germany, and Japan, the report asserted.
According to the report, the mining and construction sector, a key enabler of infrastructure, energy, and industrial growth, commands a USD 18 trillion global market and contributes 16 per cent of global GDP.
In India, this sector is central to national development, contributing 22 per cent to GDP, ranking second only to China, and supporting over 70 million jobs.
India is the fastest-growing market among the top six global MCE markets, with a CAGR of 12 per cent over the past five years!
The expansion of the MCE sector is projected to contribute over USD 100 billion to India's economy by 2029-30 including 20 million jobs directly or indirectly.
This impact is driven by the growth of upstream and downstream industries, job creation and a boost to tax revenues, the report said.
To realise the full potential of Vision 2030, the report recommends structural and policy initiatives. Institutionalizing governance via a single nodal agency, Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme tailored for MCE, Accelerating MCE exports through Free Trade Agreement (FTAs), establishing mutual recognition arrangements for Indian certification standards, promoting technology adoption and automation, Rationalizing tax and import duties, Creating innovation forums including National R&D consortia and start-up accelerators, green incentives and clean-tech R&D support, Revamping underground mining and beneficiation regulations to unlock mineral potential are the key recommendations. India showcases world's largest DRR financing system at UN disaster platform in Geneva
Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, PK Mishra, highlighted India's robust Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) financing system--cumulatively exceeding USD 28 billion--and called for concrete, time-bound outcomes and the creation of a global facility for catalytic funding, technical assistance, and knowledge exchange. While delivering India's statement at the 8th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) 2025 in Geneva on Wednesday (local time), Mishra commended the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and its partners for convening the ministerial roundtable on DRR financing , emphasising that its journey from a USD 1 million allocation to a projected USD 42 billion under the 16th Finance Commission underscores the importance of a rule-based, structured financing architecture backed by the Disaster Management Act of 2005 . "India commends the UNDR and its partners for convening this important ministerial roundtable on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) financing. We also appreciate the efforts made by Brazil and South Africa in continuing the global dialogue on this vital subject through their respective G20 presidencies," Mishra noted in the opening statement. "For India, DRR financing is not a territorial issue -- it is central to the effective functioning of disaster management systems and the protection of development gains in an era of escalating climate and disaster risks. India believes that a robust and responsive DRR financing architecture is a cornerstone of resilience. Our journey has evolved steadily and purposefully -- starting from an allocation of approximately USD 1 million through the early Finance Commissions, our cumulative outlay now exceeds USD 28 billion and is expected to rise to USD 42 billion under the 16th Finance Commission. India's experience underscores the importance of rule-based, pre-determined allocations that flow seamlessly from the national to the state and district levels. This system is backed by a strong legislative foundation -- the Disaster Management Act of 2005 -- which has transformed disaster financing from a reactive mechanism into a structured and predictable system," he further added. According to a post on X by the Permanent Mission of India at Geneva, India showcased the world's largest DRR financing system. Milan [Italy], June 5 (ANI): Leading Italian companies have announced significant investment plans for India following a strategic meeting with Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in Milan, signalling strengthened economic ties between the two nations. The meeting brought together top executives from key Italian industrial sectors, including commercial refrigeration, aerospace and defence, and technical gases, all expressing a strong commitment to expanding their operations in India's rapidly growing market. Marco Nocivelli, CEO of EPTA Group, a specialist in commercial refrigeration, emphasised the substantial opportunities he sees in the Indian market. EPTA has already established a subsidiary in Bengaluru and plans to unveil its expansion strategy at a press conference in June. The company is introducing its Costan and IARP brands to India, offering comprehensive refrigeration solutions for the retail, food and beverage, and hospitality sectors. Minister Goyal highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership and posted, 'Pleasure to meet Marco Nocivelli, CEO of EPTA Group, a specialist in commercial refrigeration. With India's rapidly expanding retail and cold chain sectors, we discussed how the company could seize the opportunity and contribute toward sustainable refrigeration solutions in India.' 'It was a very good meeting. It was a big pleasure for me, especially because now we are entering the Indian market,' Poggipolini stated. The company plans to establish strategic partnerships in India to transfer expertise and technology to strengthen the domestic supply chain. 'We have this great opportunity to take our know-how and technology to India in order to try to elevate the domestic supply chain of the Indian market,' Poggipolini explained.
