The Grand National is just days away as momentum gathers after a thrilling four days at Cheltenham Festival to leave the British horse racing calendar in full swing.
Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin appeared set to attempt a famous double at Aintree, but he was one of 11 horses taken out at the second round of scratches while a number of others withdrew at the five-day confirmation point, boosting hopes of an audacious repeat for I Am Maximus after glory in 2024 with jockey Paul Townend.
Inothewayurthinkin, who was the 3/1 favourite on betting sites after downing Galopin des Champs at Cheltenham, was attempting to become just the second horse after Golden Miller in 1934 to win both iconic races in the same season.
But his withdrawal leaves the likes of Irish Grand National winner Intense Raffles, Iroko and Stumptown as the big contenders to stop I Am Maximus becoming the latest dual scorer after Tiger Roll in 2018 and 2019.

When and where is the Grand National 2025?
The Grand National is on Saturday, 5 April and headlines a three-day festival of racing at Aintree racecourse, which begins on Thursday, 3 April.
The big race begins at 4pm BST on 5 April. Aintree Racecourse, positioned just outside of Liverpool, will host the iconic race, with more history to be made this year on the Mildmay course.
The triangular-shaped course, which is just over 2m2f long, is one of the most challenging tests in the sport with a maximum of 34 horses, cut from 40 in 2023, battling for glory.
The race can vary in time, with Mr Frisk triumphing in 1990 in a breathtaking time of eight minutes and 47.80 seconds, but most years the winner crosses the finish line in just over nine minutes.

When are the horses announced?
The confirmed field will be published 48 hours before the race, with entries already closed, that list will be cut down over several key dates.

How can I watch on TV and is there a live stream?
More than six million fans tuned in to watch last year's Grand National, which is on free-to-air television through ITV, with the channel set to broadcast coverage throughout the three-day Aintree meet.
But if you want full and uninterrupted coverage of all the races, you must have a subscription for Racing TV. Both ITV and Racing TV will provide live streams. ITVX and Racing TV are available through the websites or dedicated apps on your phone.
Several Grand National betting sites will also be live streaming the race.
Prize money: How much does the Grand National winner win?
The pot for the Grand National is up to an eyewatering £1 million and the winning connections earn £500,000.

Tickets are still available and as cheap as £85 for the Festival Zone area, but if you want a seat, it's £195 to offer fans an excellent view from the grand stand.

Willie Mullins eyeing famous Ascot success with Reaching High
Willie Mullins could be set for another landmark occasion in his glittering training career when he saddles Reaching High for the King and Queen at Royal Ascot on Tuesday. The master of Closutton has long been at the top of the training tree and it should perhaps be no surprise that the first man to pass a century of winners at the Cheltenham Festival and who also holds his own on the Flat is the first Irishman to train for the reigning monarch. If Mullins was feeling any nerves after being bestowed such an honour, he can take comfort from heading to the familiar territory of the Ascot Stakes with Closutton's royal inmate, a race he has won four times and which came immediately on Reaching High's radar after a pleasing stable bow at Leopardstown. 'I've been very happy since his first run, he did everything nicely at Leopardstown and if he could run a similar type of race at Ascot I would be very pleased,' said Mullins reflecting on Reaching High's short head defeat in the hands of Jody Townend. 'It would be great to have a winner for Their Majesties. It's great of them to send me a pedigree like this to train and we're hoping for the best and that it all goes well on the day.' Mullins of course has previous with the royal family at their own meeting having been the man who saddled Simenon to narrowly finish second to the late Queen Elizabeth II's Estimate when she achieved a famous Gold Cup success in 2013. Estimate was trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Ryan Moore and it is perhaps fitting that Mullins' first horse since being added to the royal roster is a former Stoute-trained offspring of Estimate set to be partnered on Tuesday by Moore. Mullins though, is determined to enjoy his week attending Flat racing's annual jamboree, even if the magnitude of victory for the King and Queen will see him bookmarked in racing history yet again. 'Why wouldn't you look forward to Royal Ascot,' said Mullins. 'Yes we'll have a few runners and hopefully a winner, but it's sort of a busman's holiday that gives you a good chance to get round and meet people who I don't get to meet at Cheltenham. 'While the Flat trainers are working away, I can catch up with all our owners just like the Flat trainers do while we're busy during Cheltenham and it works well. If we can then get a winner it's a bonus, even one in the first four is great.' Mullins currently has 10 Royal Ascot winners to his name and will also bid for a Copper Horse Stakes hat-trick with Charlus on the opening day card, while the biggest threat to Reaching High could in fact come from within his own Closutton camp in the form of Triumph Hurdle hero Poniros. Owned by Brighton and Hove Albion supremo Tony Bloom, for who Mullins saddled Stratum to win back-to-back Queen Alexandra Stakes in 2021 and 2022, the Ascot Stakes marks what could be a busy summer on the level for the shock 100-1 Cheltenham Festival scorer who was bought with dual-purpose designs. 'Poniros is well entitled to go there and he ran well there at the meeting last year,' continued Mullins. 'I think we could have some fun with him this summer and he would be one we can look forward to in all of those staying handicaps.'

King remember victims of Air India plane disaster at Trooping the Colour
The King has celebrated his official birthday with an eco-friendly flypast by the Red Arrows and remembered all those killed in the Air India plane disaster. Trooping the Colour was a display of military pomp and pageantry but Charles asked for the traditional programme to include a minute's silence, and for senior royals and officers taking part to wear black armbands as a mark of respect. When the royal family gathered later on Buckingham Palace's balcony they acknowledged the crowds and watched an aerial display of vintage and modern aircraft with the Red Arrows' finale powered by a blend of sustainable aviation fuel. The world-famous aerobatic team also used vegetable oil to produce their trademark red, white and blue vapour trails over the royal residence – believed to be a first. Trooping, also known as the King's Birthday Parade, fell silent after Charles had inspected hundreds of troops on Whitehall's Horse Guards Parade from a carriage with the Queen by his side. The moment of reflection acknowledged the aviation disaster on Thursday that killed 241 passengers and crew, including more than 50 British nationals, and around 30 people on the ground. Charles led the royal colonels in wearing black armbands, with the Prince of Wales, Colonel of the Welsh Guards, Princess Royal, Colonel Blues and Royals, and the Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel Scots Guards, all wearing bands on their left arms. Young royals delighted monarchy fans by making an appearance, with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis riding in a carriage with their mother Kate. George, Charlotte and Louis joined other members of the royal family, including the Duchess of Edinburgh in the former office of the Duke of Wellington, to watch the spectacle in honour of their grandfather the King. During the pageantry, the colour was first trooped through the ranks of soldiers before the guardsmen marched past the King, first in slow then in quick time, with Charles acknowledging the command of 'eyes right' with a salute. Lieutenant Max Martin, 24, who carried the regimental flag at the heart of the ceremony, said: 'The King's Colour emphasises and symbolises everything that has ever gone before in the Coldstream Guards. 'The gold embroidered silk of the flag is physically heavy, especially in the flourish, but the symbolic weight is heavier still. 'It bears 44 of our 113 battle honours: the achievements and sacrifices of countless generations of our forebears.' Thousands lined the royal procession route from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade where Trooping was staged. A group of activists from the anti-monarchy group Republic staged a 'not my King' protest. During the fly-past Louis, who was dressed in an identical red tie and suit outfit as older brother George, was seen chatting to his father, William, and waving to the crowds. The sustainable display be the Red Arrows is in keeping with Charles decades long support for sustainability and climate action. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said the King was not involved in the decision but was 'delighted' because he has been encouraging use of the fuel on royal flights where practical and hopes the example will lead to wider use across the aviation sector.

Sir Beckham has been awarded the knighthood for his services to sport and charity. And after the news was finally revealed, his loving wife took to social media to gush over her hubby. Victoria took to Instagram to share a lovely message about David, alongside a sweet photo of her kissing his cheek, in the caption she penned: "You've always been my knight in shining armour, but now it's official. Sir @davidbeckham!!! "What an honour, I couldn't be prouder of you. Your dedication to the things that matter most — your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family — has never wavered. "The way you've touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us everyday. But above all else, I'm so, so proud to call you mine.I love you so much xxxx". David said he is "immensely proud" to have received a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours. In a statement to the PA news agency, he said: 'Growing up in East London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour. To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true. 'Off the pitch I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Britain around the world and work with incredible organisations that are supporting communities in need and inspiring the next generation. I'm so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I'm grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. "It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family.' The knighthood has been a long time coming for the former sports star who is known to be good friends with the Royal Family, having previously described himself as a huge Royalist'.
