A sleeping pug's reaction to being woken up by his dog groomer has left internet users in hysterics.
It's often said that you shouldn't wake a sleeping baby, but perhaps that rule should apply to Gus the pug too. His mobile dog groomer, Sarah, shared a hilarious video of what happened when she tried to wake a snoozing Gus for his appointment—needless to say, it didn't go too well.
The footage was shared on Sarah's TikTok account (@prettypennidoggrooming) showing Gus sleeping on the sofa and snoring very loudly when she arrived at his home. As she tried to rouse the pug, he grumbled and didn't seem too pleased, momentarily refusing to open his eyes.
Eventually, Gus succumbed to the inevitable and woke up enough just to let Sarah, from Canada, give him some belly scratches.
Since the clip was shared online, internet users can't get enough of Gus's loud snoring and refusal to get up. In just a matter of days, the clip has already amassed over 2 million views and more than 352,800 likes at the time of writing.
Newsweek contacted Sarah via email for comment.

It's no secret that pugs have a certain penchant for relaxing and snoozing, as the American Kennel Club (AKC) highlights that they would happily spend most of their day snoozing on the sofa.
Indeed, sleep is certainly important for dogs of any age or breed, as they require so much of it. The website PetMD suggests that most dogs will typically sleep for around six to eight hours overnight when their owner sleeps, as well as anywhere between 10 and 18 hours during the day.
There are varying factors which can play a role in that too, including their age (as puppies and seniors need more sleep), their home life, and their breed. Working dogs, such as spaniels or golden retrievers, may not need as much sleep because they're used to an active lifestyle. Pugs on the other hand are more prepared to work hard at staying relaxed.
If owners are concerned that their dog sleeps too much, PetMD recommends introducing more stimulation to their day. This could be through new toys, teaching them new tricks, or going on more walks outside.
The TikTok Reaction
After the video of Gus snoring went viral, he's become quite the internet sensation and TikTok users are obsessed. Many people have lauded his laziness, which has led to more than 1,000 comments on the TikTok post so far.
One comment reads: "Gus said not today ma'am, we will need to reschedule."
Another TikTok user wrote: "I've never seen a fresh loaf of bread snore before."
Another person added: "Gus was like, just come back tomorrow."
While one commenter joked: "Gus snores like he's done a 16-hour shift."

An Elephant Wanders Into a Grocery Store and Steals Crackers, a Sandwich and the Internet's Heart

In Thailand, a wild elephant lumbered into a grocery store and helped himself to all the goods as if he was taking over the place. Now, the male elephant known as Plai Biang Lek is taking over the internet, too. Plai Biang Lek entered a store in Pak Chong, Thailand, after finding his way there from Khao Yai National Park, according to NBC News. Video of the incident circulating on social media shows the giant animal, plastered in mud, the inside of the small store as he towers over a wall of shelves packed with snacks and groceries. The store's owner, Kamploy Kakaew, and national park workers can be heard trying to wrangle the elephant out of the store as he munches away, seemingly unfazed. Speaking to NBC News, Kakaew recalled how the behemoth managed to feast on several items from her morning haul, including dried bananas, nine bags of sweet rice crackers and a sandwich. 'This sandwich, the whole pack was gone,' she said. Plai Biang Lek was eventually escorted from the shop's premises without anyone being harmed. Still, he didn't leave the store empty-trunked. The video shows him making his departure with a parting snack tucked against his chest. The chaos and crumbs left behind might have been local to Thailand, but the laughs and comments are now global. On Instagram and TikTok, users have reacted to the video with amusement and affection, with TikTok calling Plai Biang 'impossible to ignore.' 'That elephant was being very mindful, very demure,' one user commented on Associated Press' Instagram page. 'Previous human looking for favorite snacks in the afterlife for sure,' replied another. ''Hello boss?'' one replied, leaning into the absurdity. 'So, it's just that I don't know where to start.'' 'Insurance company: a WHAT entered the store?' someone quipped. 'They'd love Costco,' chimed in another. 'This sounds like a math problem,' one user mused. 'If one elephant eats 3 apples, how much will it cost to replace the ceiling?' 'Me in the kitchen at 2 am,' came another joke. Khao Yai National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located some 114 miles away from the city of Bangkok, according to the park's website. It is a home to a diverse range of wildlife, including reptiles, birds and mammals like Plai Biang Lek. In Thailand, elephants are cultural figures of royalty and strength. While deeply respected, their numbers have dropped significantly due to poaching, habitat encroachment and the increase of human-elephant conflicts, according to the World Wildlife Fund. In 2020, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP), started a plan to ease these conflicts by increasing food and water resources for animals within their protected habitats.
