A 13-year-old girl has died after falling through the floor of an attic during a youth event over the Easter weekend, according to reports.
The devastating incident happend on Friday, April 18, at 7pm local time when Pueblo Police Department rushed to the Rocky Mountain SER (RMSER) after- school head start program in Pueblo. Upon arrival officers pronounced the young girl dead at the scene despite best efforts to save her life.
According to KRDO and Fox affiliate KXRM-TV the family have identified the girl who died as Joeylin Kenley McDonald.
As reported by USA TODAY, Pueblo Police Department confirmed officers responded to reports of a juvenile who "had fallen through the ceiling of the gym at RMSER during a youth 'kickback' event featuring various activities" shortly after 7pm on April 18. Upon investigation, it was determined that the 13-year-old, "along with four others, had been exploring the second floor of the building unsupervised."
"While there, the group discovered a room with a ladder leading up to the attic," police said. "As they walked across the wooden beams in the attic, a 13-year-old fell through the ceiling, dropping approximately 25 feet to the gym floor below."
A GoFundMe page has been launched to help Joeylin's family during this challenging time. A tribute from the McDonald and Chambres family left on the page read: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden and unimaginable loss of Joeylin, a bright, loving, and vibrant 13-year-old girl who was taken far too soon.
"Joeylin was the kind of person who lit up every room she entered. Full of life and joy, she loved to dance and brought laughter and positivity wherever she went. She was not only fun-loving and kind but also an exceptional student with a future full of promise. Recently honored as Mrs. Spirit 2024, Joeylin embodied strength, spirit, and grace in everything she did. She was truly a remarkable young girl — a daughter, a friend, and a light to so many.
"Her passing has left an unfillable void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. As her family navigates this heartbreaking time, they are also faced with unexpected financial burdens — including funeral expenses, time away from work to grieve, and other costs related to this unimaginable tragedy.
"We're asking for your support to help ease those burdens and allow her family the time and space they need to heal. Every donation, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated. If you're unable to give, please consider sharing this campaign. Your love, prayers, and generosity mean the world during this time of sorrow. At this time, services are still pending."
In a statement shared with KRDO and KXRM-TV, the Rocky Mountain SER said that McDonald died during a youth kickback event — calling it a 'tragic loss' to the community.
Adding: "Joeylin was a bright and beloved light in our community, and her sudden passing is a devastating blow to all who knew and loved her. While the exact circumstances of this tragedy remain under investigation, we ask the Pueblo community and beyond to join us in lifting in loving support and deep prayer for Joeylin, her family, friends, and all who are grieving during this unimaginable time."

Man from Newton Mearns raped woman and fractured her skull
Christopher McDonald repeatedly tormented his victim leaving her traumatised by her ordeal. The attacks included the 45 year-old raping her and also fracturing her skull when he discovered she was in a new relationship. The woman was known to McDonald. The crimes mainly occurred in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire. The first offender had denied the accusations during a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. But, jurors found him guilty of a total of three charges. READ MORE: Thug knocked out three of teen's teeth with one punch He was convicted of engaging in a course of abusive behaviour which included violently having sex with the woman "without her consent" in August 2022 and punching her on the face the same day. The other charges were two counts of acting in a threatening manner. Describing the most serious incidents, Judge Douglas Brown today told McDonald: "In the early hours, you awoke her from her sleep and got into bed beside her. "She got out and tried to get out the room, but you grabbed her. "You pinned her down on the bed and raped her." The hearing was told McDonald, of Newton Mearns, also East Renfrewshire, flew into a rage again later that day when he found out the woman was seeing someone else. READ MORE: Serial sex attacker raped woman he met on Tinder Judge Brown: "You punched her in the face with such force it caused severe injury in form of fractured skull and facial bones." He added the victim had been abused in her own home "where she was entitled to feel safe". The judge told McDonald: "Your behaviour has caused her substantial and enduring psychological harm. McDonald was put on the sex offenders list and banned from going near the woman - both for an indefinite period. Gary Allan KC, defending, said the attacker maintained his innocence. A clutch of testimonials from those who knew McDonald had earlier been given to Judge Brown. The advocate added McDonald's life was also in "tatters" whatever the jail-term would be.

Onlookers couldn't hide their amusement at the officers' inability to break down the front door. One chuckling onlooker teased them, taunting: "Bit Harder!" "Go on, hit it!" They then mocked the fumbling officers with a killer line: "Call yourself a police force? "There's no force in ya!" Two officers can be seen repeatedly attempting to barge down the door. Even while using a handheld ram and a hooligan bar they are unable able to enter the house. Two other visible cops can be seen standing idly by as their colleagues floundered at the house's entrance. The door does appear to have suffered some damage, as there is a significant dent is visible on its left side, as well as fractures to its top, glass window. Yet it remained upright and intact. Many seeing the social media video online were quick to mock the officers' fruitless efforts. One man commented: "They couldn't break into an Easter egg." Another said they, "Couldn't open an advent calendar door." One comment even appears onscreen at the end of the video saying: "Rumour has it they're still trying." Some people saw a darker side to the video, believing it showed a decline in British policing standards. "Police are losing respect, it's what it's come to. So sad," commented one viewer. A different TikTok user said: "It's a shame because I have respect for the police. "But currently the state of this country is a joke. In a twist, one user, claiming to be a former Method of Entry instructor, even seemed to spot why the police were having such little success. He said: "Use the other end of hooligan bar i.e. the wedge knocked into the door gap. "Then pull on the bar and the door (usually) opens."

It added that any card information taken would not be useable as it does not hold full card payment details on its systems. Chief executive Stuart Machin blamed "human error" for the attack and refused to comment on whether the retailer had paid a ransom to the hackers.
