Chouhan appreciated the efforts made by local farmers in areas like cold storage-based grape exports, capsicum cultivation, organic groundnut farming, mango production, and floriculture. He also stated that farmers were leading new experiments in agriculture, and their efforts must be supported through scientific research. Chouhan stressed the urgency of developing new crop varieties that could withstand climate change.
Chouhan highlighted concerns over the excessive use of
chemical fertilisers
, which led to reduced profits and poor crop quality.

"We keep adding so much chemical fertiliser, which increases expenses, and profits decrease...Because of using more chemical fertilisers, the quality also deteriorates," he said.
He emphasised the Modi government's commitment to reducing production costs and ensuring fair prices for farmers, even in the face of natural losses.
Earlier on Saturday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan hailed

Trump vs Musk: CNN commentator uses trash bin to symbolise GOP chaos over feud, says 'heads are in garbage'
CNN commentator Scott Jennings with US President Trump (Image credits: X @ScottJenningsKY) CNN's conservative commentator Scott Jennings used humor, and a trash can, to illustrate how Republican allies are feeling about the growing rift between US President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk . During a panel on 'The Lead with Jake Tapper' Thursday, Jennings grabbed a nearby trash bin and shoved his head inside to demonstrate the GOP's frustration. 'Let me just tell you what every Republican is doing,' he said. 'Here's where we are today. Heads are in the garbage can right now. That's the state of everybody I know at the moment.' The stunt came as tensions between Trump and Musk escalated publicly. Musk, who had supported Trump since the 2024 election and served as head of the now-defunct department of government efficiency, DOGE, broke with the former president over his 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act.' Musk denounced the bill on X, calling it a 'disgusting abomination.' Their falling-out quickly spiraled on social media, with Musk even alleging Trump's name appears in documents related to Jeffrey Epstein . Jennings, while playful, acknowledged the seriousness of the split. 'It's an ugly day, and you hate it when your friends are fighting,' he said. He emphasized that the Trump-Musk alliance had previously played a crucial role and that their goals 'are not mutually exclusive.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esta nueva alarma con cámara es casi regalada en Mendoza (ver precio) Verisure Undo He urged Republicans to unify, warning that Democrats are gaining ground amid the chaos. Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill,' currently under senate review, includes measures such as border security funding and eliminating taxes on overtime and tips.

Umeed portal to monitor Waqf properties launched
New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday launched the UMEED Central Portal — a groundbreaking digital initiative aimed at ensuring real-time uploading, verification, and monitoring of Waqf properties across India. UMEED (Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development) aims to streamline Waqf property management to ensure fair usage, particularly for the benefit of poor Muslims, women, and children. To ensure accountability, the portal will create a digital inventory with geo-tagging of all Waqf properties, online grievance redressal system for better responsiveness, transparent leasing and usage tracking, integration with GIS mapping and other e-Governance tools, public access to verified records and reports among others. Union MoS George Kurian who was also present on the occasion here called the launch a "historic step," asserting that the system will prevent misuse and ensure properties serve their original charitable purposes, said a statement here. At the same time, Union Ministry Affairs Secretary Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar noted the portal's potential to support education, healthcare, livelihood, and welfare for underprivileged Muslim communities.
