‘Adulterated' fuel grounds 19 SUVs of CM's convoy in Ratlam
Indore: Nineteen SUVs, a part of
Madhya Pradesh chief minister
's cavalcade sourced to ferry VIPs from an airstrip to an industrial conclave venue in Ratlam on Friday came to a screeching halt on Thursday night after refilling 'adulterated fuel' from a petrol pump in Dosigaon.
The Ratlam district administration on learning about the incident immediately ordered a probe into the incident and sealed the petrol pump and booked its owner.
Chief minister Mohan Yadav and VIPs were supposed to arrive at the airstrip in Ratlam on Friday morning and were supposed to be taken to the venue in vehicles that were sourced from an Indore-based travel agent. The agency sent the vehicles 15 hours before the CM's arrival and got it refuelled.
"Apparently, diesel mixed with water was filled in the vehicles at the petrol pump. The vehicles got stranded and were being repaired," naib tehsildar Ashish Upadhyay, who rushed to the spot to inspect the petrol pump, told reporters.
All the vehicles stopped moving soon after refuelling. A driver, Shubham Parmar, said that it was unprecedented to find water in diesel. Mechanics were pressed into action in the night.

Two arrested for 'poisoning' tigress, 4 cubs in Karnataka

The big cats were found dead on Thursday, and subsequent investigation revealed they were poisoned. The tigress, which had initially preyed on the cow returned with her cubs to feed on it again and died after ingesting the poison, sources said. According to police, Maaduraju was reportedly enraged after his cow named 'Kenchi' was preyed upon by wild animals. To avenge the loss, he sprayed poison on the cow's carcass. His friend Nagaraju too is believed to have accompanied him during the act. The tigress, which had initially preyed on the cow returned with her cubs to feed on it again and died after ingesting the poison, sources said. Both the suspects have been taken to Meenyam-based 'Aranya Bhavan' in Hanuru Taluk of Chamarajanagar district for further interrogation. During investigation, Maaduraju's father Shivanna approached the police claiming that he was responsible for the death of the big cats. However, he was let off after the investigation revealed his son's involvement.

384kg ganja worth Rs 96 lakh seized in UP: STF busts inter-state drug racket, 3 held in Sultanpur
LUCKNOW: The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday arrested three active members of a drug trafficking syndicate and recovered 384 kilograms of illegal ganja (cannabis) with an estimated international market value of Rs 96 lakh. The arrests were made in front of Bhadeiya Block, under the jurisdiction of Kotwali Dehat police station in Sultanpur district. According to STF officials, actionable intelligence was received over the past few weeks indicating that a syndicate operating across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and other states was actively smuggling narcotics into Uttar Pradesh. Acting on these inputs, STF units were deployed for surveillance and information gathering under the supervision of Additional SP Dinesh Kumar Singh. On Friday, an STF team was patrolling in Sultanpur when they received a tip-off about a large consignment of ganja being transported from Odisha in a container truck concealed beneath paper rolls and en route to Bahraich. The STF, in coordination with the Circle Officer of Lambhua and local police, intercepted the truck and arrested the trio at Bhadeiya Block. ASP Singh said that during interrogation, Ravi Mishra revealed that he leads an organised syndicate dealing in large-scale smuggling of ganja. His associate Rahul, based in Bahraich, coordinated with the truck driver Nomaan to load the cannabis from Sonepur, Odisha, concealing it between paper rolls meant for delivery in Delhi. The contraband was to be offloaded in Bahraich, while the legal cargo was to continue to Delhi. Nomaan, the driver, was to be paid ₹800 per kilogram for the transportation. A case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered at Kotwali Dehat police station, Sultanpur, and further legal proceedings are underway.
