A humble tribute on the birth anniversary of the great revolutionary, a man of multifaceted talent, poet, and writer who sacrificed everything for the nation, a great son of Mother India, Ram Prasad Bismil.'
Other prominent leaders also paid their respects to Bismil.

By playing a courageous role not only in the Kakori action but also in many revolutionary activities, he inspired countless youth to join the national movement. His spirit of living and laying down his life for the nation will continue to inspire us forever.'
Gen VK Singh, Governor of Mizoram and Former Chief of Army Staff, also shared a powerful couplet by Bismil on X, stating, 'The desire for martyrdom now burns within our hearts, let us see how much strength the arms of the oppressor truly have.'
Singh further described Bismil as a young revolutionary and a great freedom fighter who inspired and led from the front.
On the occasion of Ram Prasad Bismil's birth anniversary, Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and G Kishan Reddy paid heartfelt tributes to the legendary freedom fighter.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi remembered Bismil as a fearless patriot, poet, and martyr who gave his life for India's independence. 'Remembering revolutionary freedom fighter Ram Prasad Bismil on his birth anniversary. A fearless patriot, poet and martyr who gave his life for India's independence. His courage and verses continue to inspire generations,' Joshi said on X.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy paid tribute to Bismil's revolutionary spirit, which was embodied through his powerful poetry. 'My humble tributes to the great poet Shri. Ram Prasad Bismil ji on his Janm Jayanthi. His revolutionary spirit, embodied through powerful poetry, called for the revival of India's cultural and spiritual strength. Today, we reaffirm his vision for a united India rooted in our rich heritage,' Reddy said.
Ram Prasad Bismil was born on June 11, 1897, in Shahjahanpur. He played a pivotal role in the Kakori train action and was one of the four revolutionaries who were hanged on December 19, 1927.
The Kakori Train Action or Kakori Conspiracy was a train robbery that took place at Kakori, a village near Lucknow, on 9 August 1925 during the Indian Independence Movement against the British colonial rule.
The robbery was organised by the Hindustan Republican Association, and more than 40 persons were arrested in this incident. They were finally sentenced to death by the British government, and severe punishments were also given to those people who helped with the incident.
Earlier in August, the Uttar Pradesh government renamed the 'Kakori Kand' to 'Kakori Train action' as the word 'Kand' denotes a sense of insult to this incident under India's Independence struggle. (ANI)

Restore Section 13 on loan waivers in Disaster Management Act, CM writes to PM

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention to restore Section 13 of the Disaster Management Act related to relief in loan repayment for victims of disaster. Mr. Vijayan pointed out in the letter that the removal of this Section, which was included in the law with purely humanitarian considerations, will further distress the victims of natural disasters. The Chief Minister wrote to the Prime Minister in the context of the Union Government informing the Kerala High Court that the law does not allow the loan waiver of the victims of the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslides in Wayanad district, citing the amendment made in March 2025 to the Disaster Management Act. Section 13, which the Union government omitted as part of an amendment, reads — 'The National Authority may, in cases of disasters of severe magnitude, recommend relief in repayment of loans or for grant of fresh loans to the persons affected by disaster on such concessional terms as may be appropriate.' 'The above Section enables providing much needed financial relief to victims of disasters, who face unprecedented crisis and will have to rebuild their lives after incurring heavy losses. The said provision in the Disaster Management Act was included with a humanitarian intent and deleting the same amounts to putting the victims of natural disasters to added hardship,' wrote Mr. Vijayan. The CM's office said in a press release that Kerala had submitted its first memorandum to the Union government on August 17, 2024, immediately after the disaster. In addition to the memorandum, a Post-Disaster Needs Assessment was conducted and a detailed report was submitted to the Union Government on November 13, 2024. On both these occasions, Section 13 of the Disaster Management Act was in force. However, it was only much later, March 29, 2025, that the Union Government issued a gazette notification amending the Act by deleting this Section. This amendment does not have retrospective effect. Yet the Union government is taking the position that since the Act has been amended, it cannot provide assistance anymore, said the release.

MP: Railway over bridge with around 90 degree turn design in Bhopal sparks row, opposition questions

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 12 (ANI): A railway over bridge constructed nearly after a decade-long wait in Aishbagh locality in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal has hit the headlines and sparked a controversy due to its design having around 90 degrees sharp turn. The Opposition Congress party raised questions on the design of the overbridge saying the government should wake up before it becomes a ground of death. The bridge design is such that vehicles will have to take almost 90 degree sharp turns, resulting in the bridge being seen as an accident point. The Railway Overbridge is about 648 meters long and 8 meters wide. It has been built at a cost of Rs 18 crore. Nonetheless, state PWD (Public Works Department) minister Rakesh Singh said it was a five years old project and its design was already prepared though it was inspected by NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) and further action would be initiated based on the report. Speaking to ANI, MP Congress Chief Jitu Patwari, 'How did the department (PWD) accept this kind of design? There is a BJP government in the state and their real thinking and mind can be understood. Still, the government should wake up and punish the people who created such a design with the public's hard-earned money. The government should get up before it becomes a death ground.' 'Railway officials raised objections over the design but the railway officials have not stopped them (PWD). They are equally responsible for this mistake,' he added. Meanwhile, state PWD Minister Rakesh Singh said that the NHAI inspected the bridge on Wednesday and its report was likely to arrive today. Action into the matter will be taken based on it. 'It is a 5 year old project and its drawing design was already prepared. Though NHAI inspected it yesterday and its report will arrive today. Further action will be taken based on the report,' the minister told ANI. According to the information, it is being said that at the time of construction, the railways had raised objections to the design, but the PWD ignored it citing lack of space. This bridge construction is being considered as the negligence of the PWD. (ANI)
