Family, supporters of Sade Robinson commemorate one year since her death
One year since Sade Robinson's disappearance and death, her mother and sister stood alongside family and supporters to mark her memory.
Adrianna Reams, Robinson's younger sister, spoke of their relationship. She described the way she and Robinson fought as young siblings do, then grew close as they aged. She watched Robinson take care of herself as she got older, picking up work and still managing to take care of her younger sister, like when she would cook for her despite a hectic work schedule.
"Anyone who knew us knew that she was the person who you wanted to talk to. She could put a smile on anyone's face," Reams said. "Her laugh was iconic for one and unmatchable."
The memorial event was held to mark one year since Robinson was last seen and, the day after, her remains were found at Warnimont Park, the same park where the event, dubbed an angelversary, was held. About 50 people attended to support Robinson's family as they discussed Robinson's memory and advocacy for crime victims and missing Black, brown and indigenous women and girls.
"We want justice for Sade," said Sheena Scarbrough, Robinson's mother. "There are other crime victim families in Milwaukee. There are so many other missing and murdered Black and brown women who have not been found."
Robinson was killed in April 2024, after last being seen on April 1 and reported missing the next day. Over the next weeks, remains believed to be hers were found on the shoreline of Warnimont Park and other parts of Lake Michigan's shores.
Milwaukee County prosecutors have charged 33-year-old Maxwell S. Anderson with first-degree homicide, mutilating a corpse and arson after prosecutors say he killed Robinson and dismembered her body earlier that month. Authorities say Anderson and Robinson went on a date together, before going to his home.
A trial was initially set for early December but was postponed to May.
Scarbrough thanked the community for its support, before remarking on how difficult the wait for justice has been. At times speaking through tears and at others speaking firmly, Scarbrough said she was fighting for justice for her daughter.
"This is not to be tolerated. I'm very upset," Scarbrough said. "I miss you so much baby girl."
After her daughter's death, Scarbrough and supporters started Sade's Voice Foundation, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to supporting missing persons and crime victims, especially for Black, brown and indigenous women. The organization intends to hold self-defense training in the future and Scarbrough urged people to advocate for the issue at the memorial event.
Statistics show Black women and girls make up a disproportionate amount of missing persons cases nationwide. Journal Sentinel reporting from 2016-2022 showed Black women represented 40% of domestic violence homicides.
"This is a pandemic that needs to be addressed," Scarbrough said on Tuesday.
Robinson's mother has previously advocated alongside legislators to create a taskforce meant to gather statistics on how many women and girls currently are missing and data on the number of murder cases.
Robinson's uncle David Scarbough II, who goes by the moniker Lil Dave the Poet, closed the memorial with a poem he wrote about his niece. As he concluded his poem, the crowd released pink balloons into the sky, that were quickly swept away by winds.
"As we release these colors high, may they dance upon the sky. Carrying our hopes and dreams." David Scarbrough recited. "We'll remember you forever more and cherish the love we shared before ... Until we meet again and play our part, we fly these balloons through the pain. Sade Carleene Robinson is her name."

Furious passenger calls in bomb threat to Spirit Airlines after showing up late and getting barred from flight: Feds
No one has ever been so eager to get on a Spirit Airlines flight. A passenger called in a bomb threat to the flight company as part of a bungled attempt to get revenge for not being allowed to board a plane in Michigan, according to the United States Attorney's Office. Charles Robinson, 23, had missed his chance to board the airline's Flight 2145 in Detroit — and then got into an argument with the customer service agents when they wouldn't let him board late, according to officials. Advertisement He was told at the gate that he needed to rebook, according to the United States Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Michigan. The FBI arrested Charles Robinson for allegedly calling in a fake bomb threat. FOX 2 Detroit Robinson then allegedly called in a bomb threat for his missed flight in a misguided attempt at revenge at 6:45 a.m., even going so far as to invent a bomber and giving authorities a detailed description of what he looked like, according to prosecutors. The passengers who had boarded the flight needed to deplane and the authorities brought in bomb sniffing dogs to look for explosives, prosecutors said. Advertisement 'No American wants to hear the words 'bomb' and 'airplane' in the same sentence,' U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr. said in a press release. 'Making this kind of threat undermines our collective sense of security and wastes valuable law enforcement resources.' The FBI arrested Robinson at the airport when he tried to board another flight to Los Angeles, prosecutors said. Robinson, of Monroe, Michigan, was arrested on a criminal complaint for reporting a fake bomb threat for a flight, according to federal prosecutors. Police needed to clear a plane and search for explosives after federal officials said a disgruntled passenger called in a fake bomb threat. FOX 2 Detroit During the call reporting the fake bomb threat, Robinson allegedly said he was calling about Flight 2145 because he had information about that flight, according to prosecutors. Advertisement 'There's gonna be someone who's gonna try to blow up the airport,' he said, according to prosecutors. 'There's gonna be someone that's gonna try to blow up that flight, 2145.' After giving a description of the make-believe bomber, he then added: 'They're going to be carrying a bomb through the TSA,' he said, according to prosecutors. 'They're still threatening to do it, they're still attempting to do it, they said it's not going to be able to be detected. Please don't let that flight board.' Robinson appeared in federal court in Detroit Friday afternoon and was released on bond, according to prosecutors. His next court appearance will be on June 27 for a preliminary examination.

Home of Seattle rapper Macklemore invaded, nanny maced: police
The Brief The home of Seattle rapper Macklemore was broken into and raided over the weekend while a nanny and three children were inside. The suspects allegedly sprayed the nanny with bear mace and stole valuables before fleeing the home. It's unclear if this incident is linked to other celebrity home break-ins in Seattle, with the investigation ongoing. SEATTLE - The home of Seattle rapper Macklemore was invaded over the weekend, Seattle police confirmed. A nanny looking over three children inside the home was maced and assaulted by two suspects, who ransacked the home of its valuables, according to the police report. What we know Two men allegedly entered Macklemore's residence through an unlocked patio door around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, and sprayed the nanny in the face with bear mace. The nanny told officers one of the suspects helped her clean the mace from her eyes before saying, "where are the jewels, bi—h?" Police say they then grabbed the nanny's arm as she led them around the house, where they raided various rooms and closets, getting away with numerous watches, jewelry and shoes they put into bags. At one point, the nanny said the men threw her to the ground and took her phone while assaulting her. She was able to escape after biting one of the suspect's hands, escaping through a bathroom, and fleeing to several neighbors' homes until someone allowed her inside to call police, according to the report. The incident happened after the nanny put three kids to sleep in their beds. The children were safely extracted after officers arrived and cleared the home. The nanny described the suspects as two Black males, one "taller one" and a "shorter one," wearing all black, face masks, gloves and tactical vests. This home invasion shares similarities to a series of other break-ins at the homes of several high-profile athletes in the Seattle area. Police recently arrested Earl Henderson Riley IV,the leader of a burglary ring that targeted pro athletes like Richard Sherman, Blake Snell and Luis Castillo. While the ringleader is in jail, his two accomplices remain on the loose, and court documents state they left behind bear spray in the home invasion of Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez's home. What we don't know It's unclear if Seattle police believe this incident is related to the other series of celebrity home break-ins. The investigation is ongoing.
